Part Eight

Sorry! I meant to have this up yesterday but stuff happened and I didn't get a chance to. Anywho...I just realized I need to write more of this story or else there won't be an update next week. O_O Oh! And there's more plot stuff thrown in here!

Part Eight

The gang decided to get a hotel in the next city because it was getting late. It was a two bed room.

“Let’s play ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ for the beds.”

They stood in a loose circle and chimed in unison. “Rock! Paper! Scissors!”

An-chan and Big Kitty had Scissors, CrimsonMoon had Paper, and Nicole and Rain had their hands behind their backs.

“I get a bed by default.” Nicole crossed her arms over her chest. “If anyone has a problem with that, I can make them reincarnate into a fruit fly one million times.” They all nodded and she sat on the edge of one bed.

“I’m not used to these places. I live in a cave.” Rain shrugged.

“One more time to see who gets the bed.” Big Kitty turned to An-chan.

“Rock! Paper! Scissors!” She had Paper and he had Scissors.

“Awwww!”

“Mew.” Little Kitty jumped onto the foot of the bed and curled up to sleep.

“Why can’t I do that on your bed?” An-chan turned to the Goddess...who was already sleeping.

Rain sat on the edge of the hotel roof and watched the city’s horizon. They’ve only been travelling for a week so far and no Races have randomly popped up. She was getting restless. Fighting off some trees was boring. She needed to kill.

“Don’t cause trouble.”

“If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be me, Kitty-Cat.” She turned around and laughed a little. “If you think I’m a threat, try to take me out of the equation.”

“I know you are a threat. But you and I are the only ones who will do what we have to. I’m not as young as I used to be.”

“No...it’s a shame too. You were adorable back then with your little wife.” She dodged the blade with ease and laughed again. “Not to say you’ve aged badly, of course. Do you remember the night of her death?”

“You may be needed for this mission but I will kill you.”

“Oh, I have no doubt.” She laughed and left the roof.

William sheathed his katana and clenched his hands into fists. He still didn’t know who had killed her. Any leads he had found went cold after a while. He needed to be careful of Rain. She was purposefully trying to get him to react. They had known each other for a long time. They fought only once in all those years and it ended as a tie...only because that was the night.

He had heard a scream, his wife’s scream, from the apartment. They were fighting on the roof. He had run back into the building but it was too late. She was already dead. And the two people who were standing over her lifeless body hadn’t been the ones to kill her. He had found out that much.

“They didn’t even know that she had prematurely given birth a couple of days ago. If Gillian had been pregnant when she was killed...” He gritted his teeth in anger.

***

“He’ll never find the one he’s looking for unless he looks carefully back to that time.” Rain toyed with one of her blue bangs as she walked down the sidewalk.

She suddenly stopped and smiled, reading a poster taped to a lamp post.

***

“Lookie! You can enter and have some fun for once!” She held out the flyer to Big Kitty.

He took a bite out of his piece of toast as he read the details. It was starting in a couple of hours on a few of the main roads of the city.

“How can a resist a drag race?”

When they arrived at the start point, people whispered about them. They were all going to get in the car. It was common knowledge that the more people, the slower you went. Big Kitty just smirked at their ignorance.

They sat in their usual seats: Big Kitty driving, Rain in passenger, An-chan behind her, CrimsonMoon behind Big Kitty, Nicole lying on the roof, and Little Kitty on the dashboard.

The lights in front of the cars were red. Big Kitty didn’t even sound the engine. He just sat calmly and waited. When the light turned green, he put the Chevelle into gear and slammed on the pedal. They were instantly in the lead.

“I think I’m going to be sick.” CrimsonMoon covered his eyes.

“Ya! You drive the fuck outa this car!” Rain cheered from her seat.

“Where are the seatbelts?! How come we never realized they’re not here?!” An-chan panicked.

“THEY SLOW YOU DOWN!” Nicole yelled from the roof.

“Mew!”

***

“So far there are no problems. Big Kitty and Rain are the only possible problems. Both are skilled and will kill without hesitation. However, right now they are at odds. If they ever start to get close and form some sort of comradeship, I will notify you. CrimsonMoon is far too naive and unskilled to pose a threat. When he comes more into the art of death, I will notify you. Report over.”
