Chapter Three

After dropping Leian off at work, Aiden made a very important phone call.

“Hello?” asked the voice on the other end.

“Um, is this Dylan Deveroe?” asked Aiden.

“Yeah, what do you want?”

“Um….this might be kind of awkward. It’s Aiden. Aiden Collins. We went to high school together.”

“…oh. It’s you. So, um, how’s Kai doing?”

“You see, that’s kind of why I’m calling. I don’t know how to say this but…”

“You’re in love with him, aren’t you?”

“Um….huh? What? I mean…no. yes. Yes I am. Was it that obvious?”stuttered Aiden.

“Not really. You’re usually straightforward and sure of yourself. And he’s an easy person to fall for…I know. So what do you want from me?”

“Well, I was actually kind of hoping for some advice. You guys had a relationship and a connection I’m not sure we could ever reach. I need to know what I should do. I didn’t realize what he meant to me until very recently. And I mean very recent. It’s weighing on my chest and I don’t know what to do.”

“Don’t you worry, sweetie. Just follow what Dylan says. As of right now, don’t do anything; sit and wait to see where things might go. Have you guys ever…experimented with each other?”

“No, never,” lied Aiden.

“Okay, well, just don’t do anything yet. And I’ll tell you later on what to do. Good luck, baby! But I have to go now. I’ll talk to you later, okies??”

“Yeah. Thanks. And bye.”

Aiden hated himself for doing it. He knew it would only lead to trouble. He should’ve just talked to Caz or Leian. But neither of them knew Kai as well as Dylan. It had to be done.

**Meanwhile...**

“Ugh,” groaned Kai as the incessant buzzing of his cell phone slowly woke him up. “Who the hell would be calling me at this hour? They should know I don’t wake up until at least three in the afternoon.”

“What do you want?” growled Kai into the phone.

“Hey sweetie! How have you been?”

“Who is this?” asked Kai, curtly. Although he thought he recognized the high pitched voice on the other end.

“Silly, it’s me, Dylan. I’ve missed you.”

Oh yes, Kai was right. It has him. The boy he had loved. Still loved, but would never admit to anyone. After Dylan had cheated on him, he thought he could never forgive him. He still wasn’t sure that he could but he couldn’t help but love the little slut. He had spent so much of his high school career with him, he had missed him too.

“Hello? You still there? Please don’t hang up on me, I really need to talk to you about something,” asked Dylan.

“Yeah, I’m still here. You just caught me off-guard. How’s Enrique?”

“Honey, he left me four months ago. Do you still hate me?”

“I don’t know. You really hurt me. I haven’t had a relationship since you cheated on me. I couldn’t face it again. It brought up too many ghosts of us.”

“I truly am sorry. I wish we could go back to what we had. You were the best thing to ever happen to me. I’ve changed a lot you know. I’ve grown…in a few places, if you know what I mean.”

“Look, I don’t know what you want but could you just get it over with? You’re breaking my heart all over again. You’re picking old scabs and letting them bleed afresh. I don’t know if I can bandage them again.”

“Okay, here goes. I still love you. I want you back. I miss everything about you.”

“Dylan, you had better not hurt me again. Would you like to come over so we can talk about this? I think we might be able to salvage something of what we once had. Don’t make me regret it. I can’t handle it again,” pleaded Kai. He hoped it was the right thing to do.

“Oh my god baby, I’ll be right there. I won’t make you regret anything. I’ll be even better than before! Buh-Bye!!” answered Dylan excitedly.

Kai began to doubt his logic immediately after hanging up the phone. He sank back into the bed and closed his eyes. He knew Dylan would be here in less than ten minutes and he had no idea what was going to happen. He hoped Aiden wouldn’t show up. Aiden was so mad at Dylan. He hated Dylan for what he had done, and it turned violent quickly.

Kai’s reminiscing thoughts were intruded by a knocking on the door. Dylan was there already! It had only been less than five minutes since they had ended their conversation. He must’ve thought Kai would answer yes and had been waiting outside. As Kai opened the door, Dylan leaped onto him and brought him to floor.

“Hey sweetie! You’re as hot as ever! I’m so glad to see you again,” exclaimed Dylan as he hugged Kai tightly. “I forgot how good your arms felt around me.”

“Ha ha, yeah. It feels like a perfect fit, huh?”said Kai awkwardly. “Are you sure this is for the best? I’m just worried about our past. I just don’t want history to repeat itself.”

“Baby, you have no need to worry. And if something does happen, you can punish me like the bad boy I’ve been.”

The two boys lay on the floor in an embrace for a few quiet minutes when Kai said, “So, I was thinking… Boygirl2 has a gig next Tuesday and I don’t have any groupies, would you be mine?”

“Does this mean you’re my man again?? Of course I will be your groupie!”

“Yes, I’m your man. God, that feels great to say. I’ve been single for so long now. I feel ecstatic right now.”

“Me too. My relationship with Enrique was empty and was only good for the sex. I’m sorry,” said Dylan

apologetically.

Kai just studied his face. He looked so genuine, so happy. He loved when Dylan looked like this. But Kai just didn’t feel like he did when he used to see Dylan. He once got this tingling sensation in the bottom of his stomach, no matter how long they had been together Dylan always managed to take his breath away. But not anymore. He just saw a sad boy who needed a hug. Was he sure that he was the one to provide that? Where had all this doubt come from? He was sure that he loved Dylan. He could figure it out later, now he needed some loving.

“So, I’ve got a new set of sheets….want to christen them with me? It’s so uncomfortable when the sheets aren’t broken in,” suggested Kai.

“Oh honey, yes. Let’s go now. I’m going to make you holler until you pass out.”

“Hopefully that won’t be soon. I’m a little out of practice, you see.”

“Well, let me re-educate you. You always were a fast learner.”
