chapter 3
July 1 1987
I woke this morning to find that my bed had been moved against the door. I couldn't figure out how it happened without me knowing. The doctors will punish me for it being moved. How did it move? Maybe I sleep walk?
When they came to let me out for breakfast this morning they saw that I had moved the bed and thought the best way to punish me was to lock me in "the box". The box is a five foot by five foot room. The only light in the room was a light bulb hanging from a wire in the middle of the room. The light was really pale and you could hardly see three inches in front of you. There was no bed, just a small pillow and thin wool blanket. The worst part is the room is either really hot or really cold. I'm not sure of the time. It must be past lunchtime. I'm very bored but at least they are still letting me write in here, even if I can't see the page in front of me.

Later that day

I tried sleeping, but the light was flickering, nothing annoys me more then lights when I’m trying to sleep. It was more then the light bothering me, there was a sad crying should coming from somewhere. I felt bad for the person but I really just wanted them to shut up. They were someone outside my door, I’m not sure if it was a completely different room or not. I tried to call out to the person crying but there was no reply. The crying stopped when I called out. I yelled once more, just to see if they would reply, but I got nothing back.
About an hour later they came and let me out for dinner. They told me I was allowed to return to my room as long as I didn't move the bed again. Dinner went by with nothing of importance happening. I still haven’t seen Ruby I’m starting to worry. People just do not disappear like that.
