Chapter Three

As the darkness began to creep across the country Azreal collected the few items he needed for his mission. It would not be long before he had his man and this could be done with. Staring at the palace he felt the chill down his spine. Strange really usually the cold didn’t bother him but this chill was all to do with the past. But now was not the time for that.

Trinity wondered through the ball room it was quiet still but soon it would be filled with guests to welcome Sir Reno to the palace. She had never met the man before but according to her sources he and her father went back a long way and had a few things in common. He was said to be in his late forties and some said not as unattractive as one might imagine. She had heard her maids speaking of his aura. He could it seemed catch women’s attention with just his eyes. They all commentated on his eyes. But this held no weight with Trinity. She had plans of her own for this night. She only had to spend minimal time at this event and then she could get away. It was perfect timing really all attention would be placed on their guest and no one would know if she slipped off for a while. One hour was all she had. Was all she dared have really? If her father had found out she would be under real lock and key. Time to get changed. Her father expected perfection tonight. She could tell that he wanted her to make the best impression possible.

He was to close. His memories were bombarding him. This wasn’t good he needed to focus if he was to find the ma he wanted. He could feel that chill down his spine again. Not from cold he never felt the cold. Why would he when he had a body temperature colder then the climate. But thinking this he wasn’t hot either. It was strange.

Glancing in the mirror she checked herself again. The purple gown that had been chosen for tonight’s ball was the ultimate in princess dresses. With a fitted waist and ballooning skirt she couldn’t have felt more regal. Trinity preyed she couldn’t stand out too much. If she did then someone was bound to notice when she made her exit. Nothing could go wrong. Nothing. This was her only chance. A knock at the door signalled her need to leave.
‘Princess the King has requested you met him in his study before entering the ball room. He wishes to speak too you.’ Perfect probably another lecture on her behaviour to guests. Her father always wanted her to mingle and make a good impression with those her father had chosen to join them on a any special occasion.
‘I’ll be right there!’ Sweeping a hand over her curled raven locks she checked the small bag near the door frame. It still contained everything she would need. About two hours and she could be out of here.
‘The King requests your presence now my lady.’
‘Coming’

‘Come in!’
‘You wanted to see me Father?’
‘Yes I would like to introduce you to Sir Reno Hallow. He is here as our special guest tonight and I thought I should let you become acquainted as he will be your escort tonight.’
