Episode 3

The days ahead are going to be hard.

She looked on awkwardly at Jules. The weekends are drawing to a close. He arrived on Friday, today is Sunday. The four of them are having the Sunday night family dinner. It has been a ritual, a habit, no matter how busy they are over the week, Sunday dinnertime is strictly family time. She wondered if he is able to follow the habit that their family had developed over the years. It didn't seem likely, he is a teenage boy afterall, he is bound to have his dates with his friends. Her heart skipped a beat at that thought. His friends. Him. She couldn't help but wonder if from then on, she will get to see more of him. Her resolution is starting to waver.

It has been three days, they haven't spoken much. He seemed to recognise her, but he hasn't yet mentioned anything about school. He will have to ask what transport to take to school won't he? Her parents broached the subject. What time did he start school the next day? He can go with her, she will tell him what are the routes available to him. The most convenient would of course be the train. He looked over to her as though he is asking for her view on the matter. She shrugged her shoulders and said she did not mind, but she takes the bus more frequently than the train. Train fare is expensive and strictly only for wednesdays. If he did not mind taking the bus, she would not mind showing him which buses he can take. He did not mind. They will be going to school together from tomorrow onwards. His timetable, surprisingly complemented hers.

"You don't talk much huh."
What is he talking about? Is he mad?
"It depends."

"So, I guess the only conclusion is that you don't really like me? For intruding on your life suddenly?"
..... He is obviously mental. When did I ever say I dislike him?
"I don't."

"You obviously do. Your replies are always so short and sharp."
Does he expect me to recite poetry to him when i barely know him?
"I don't even know about you much."

"If you don't start talking, how will you?"
Shit, how long will this bus ride take!
"And may I ask, why must I be the one who starts?"

"Well, I am starting now, you have to reply before a proper conversation can commence right?"
"From my definition of reply, I am definitely replying you now."

"You smile and laugh a lot in school."
WHAT?! Oh great! He really did notice me in school before.
"You realised that I am from the same school?"

"Yes, we are taking the same bus to the same destination, if you remember."
Now, he thinks I am an idiot.
"I meant before my parents mentioned it."

"Yes. You and your friends aren't exactly the types to go unnoticed."
What did he meant by that!
"What are you trying to imply? That we are a noisy bunch?!"

"Chill! I didn't say that, I merely meant that you guys attract attention, definitely."
"Since we are going to be under one roof, let me tell you this. Whenever someone asks me to chill, I feel like punching him/her in their face, so shut it on the chill. You and your bunch aren't exactly the wallflower types either."

"Woah."
"What?"
"That has got to be the longest sentence you have spoken to me so far. Woah."
"Shutup."

From then on, she kept silent throughout the whole bus ride. He kept the conversation going. Introduced himself to her. She acted as though she couldn't be bothered but, she listened. Year two, business studies, blue, lemon barley, chicken dishes, soccer, 12th October, libra, 1.8m, 74kg. The bus is reaching their stop. She pressed the bell, a signal to him that they are alighting. He grumbled about her ignoring him again. She clasped her earphones firmly over her ears, volume turned to the maximum.

Shock was written all over her face, he was at the bus stop, waving at her. WHAT?!
