Chapter 3 – It's Saturday

Chapter 3 – It's Saturday

“SHIT!!” Alan jumped out of bed as he looked at the clock. “Damn it! I am late for the test. I could’ve sworn I had set the alarm clock before I fell asleep last night.” He quickly got changed and dashed out of his room.

“MOM!? Why didn’t you wake me up? I have a final exam today and I am so damn late. Shit!” He didn’t even bother brushing his teeth. Furious as he was, he put on his shoes and grabbed his bag and headed for the door.

“Alan, today is Saturday. And there is no school on Saturday. Come have breakfast.” His mom made breakfast.

(WHAT?? Today is Friday. Today is the final exam. Today is what I study all last night for.)

“Mom, I think you are a day ahead of all of us.” He stopped at the door. “I didn’t study all last night for nothing. I need to take this test."

“The hell you were.” She flipped out on him. “You came home so damn late last night. You didn’t call or anything. If you ever come home so late without letting me know again, I swear I will kick you out of the house. If your father is still alive, he would give you the hardest beating you ever had. Now come and eat your breakfast.”

(This is impossible. How can this be?)

Alan pulled his cellphone out of his pocket to check the date. “No!” Then he rushed into the living to turn on the television and the news channel. Sure enough, it was Saturday. He turned off the television and went to the dining area to have his breakfast.

(What the hell? I lost a day of my life. How can this possibly be? Mom told me that I came home late last night. I don’t have any memory of any events that happened yesterday. What about my test? Did I go take my test? I am going to go berserk!!)

Before Alan could start his breakfast his cellphone rang. “Hello?” he answered the call.

“Hey Alan! How are you?”

“Jessica? Is that you? How did you get my cellphone number?”

“Yeah, it’s me Jessica. I’m just calling you to let you know that I had a great time last night. We should do it again sometime. I love you, Alan.”

(I love you? Why is she telling me that she loves me? What in the world did we do last night?)
