THREE

"She's amazing," Theo said. He merged onto the freeway with a wide smile. "We talked about the Clash, J5, Anthony Hamilton... Eilla, she likes the Suicide Machines."

"I thought that was just us!" Eilla said in surprise. "She sounds really cool. When are you going out again?"

"I don't know. Soon I hope." Eilla couldn't help but notice the permanent smirk on Theo's face. Normally he was somber, quiet, hard to read, but not today. He was clearly in a good mood, unable to hold back the occasionaly chuckle. It was nice to see him so happy. "We talked about going to that concert this weekend, the one in West Park. The acoustic sets, you know, local artists."

"Really? Would it be cool if Ben and I tagged along?"

"Yeah, absolutely," Theo said, exiting the freeway. "Is he going to come to the store later?"

"No, he's in Dallas for some Maverick's expo or something," Eilla sighed. "He won't be home until Friday. I had to... never mind." She suddenly looked over her right shoulder as if she had brought up a sensitive subject.

"Had to what?" Theo questioned, intrigued by her apparent embarassment.

"You don't want to hear this," she let out a feeble laugh. "Anyway, he's gone until Friday."

"No, you tell me what you were going to say."

"You told me not to tell you about my sex life," Eilla said quickly, hoping it would curb the conversation elsewhere.

"Well, I don't need graphic detail or anything, but I can handle the basics. Its not like we've never discussed these things before," Theo pressed the brakes to stop at a red light, and looked at Eilla with a look of both understanding and insistance.

"I had to, you know, say goodbye this morning and I just hate it when he leaves, this is stupid, you don't want to hear this," Eilla still looked to her right.

"So you fucked him right before you got in my car!?" Theo said with exaggerated disgust. "Just kidding, but really, what's the big deal about that? Its just like, you're not going to see him for a few days and you guys have sex, what, like four times a week?" Theo began to ramble, "If that was how he likes to say goodbye, that's cool I guess, I mean..."

"Hey, its not a big deal," Eilla interrupted, beginning to become uncomfortable with where Theo was heading with his rant. "I just wish I would have talked to him a little more before he left instead of sleeping with him and not really getting to say goodbye."

"He's only going to be gone four days," Theo said with a hint of disbelief. "Its not like he's not going to call you tonight, its not like he doesn't leave all the"

Eilla and Theo suddenly were flying forward and instantly flying back into their seats along with a crash. Eilla let out a scream as her head jerked back into the headrest of her seat. "Shit!" Theo yelled, after regaining his composure slightly, realizing he had just rammed square into the car in front of them. A stream of white smoke was emerging from under his accordian folded hood. "Are you ok?" He asked Eilla without taking his eyes away from the smoke.

"Yeah, but, what the hell?" Eilla said, unbuckling her seatbelt. She opened her cardoor as Theo did the same. "Oh, God, Theo..." The front of his car was smashed, a stream of some fluid was beginning to flow slowly into the gutter by Eilla's feet and the car he hit had considerable damage done to its back end. Theo's hands went slowly to the top of his head, where they rested as he shook his head back and forth in disbelief. The driver of the other car was a petite, short haired girl, probably about 18, with tears running down her face when she got out of the car.

"Are you ok?" Theo asked her the second she emerged from her driver's side door. "I'm so sorry, this is entirely my fault."

"Damn right, it is, ass hole!" The girl snapped. She had on sunglasses that seemed to cover three quarters of here face, and her head pivoted back and forth as she spoke. "What is your problem? This car is my step-mother's. I cannot believe youare so stupid, you can't even drive, why are you on the road?" The girl began waving her left hand at the damage, making elaborate figure eights and cocked her hip. "You are retarded! This is so not cool."

"This is very uncool," Theo sighed.
