Resolution

This is the final chapter of The Everafter, and the last in the series chronologically. Let's root for that happy ending that we all want in life. This chapter is also quite short. This is how I wrote it years ago. I am also experimenting with the HTML coding at the end. Let's hope it works. There's another Post Author's Note at the end. Be sure to read that as well. If you liked this series, be sure to read my other slash fiction, Black Star Cross, updated every other Sunday. Apparently, it's quite good for some reason or another. Enjoy.

The Everafter: Suspicions Remix

Part 3: Resolution

“Hey babe.” came Tyler.  He noticed my weird expression.

            “What’s wrong?”

I looked up and for some reason felt like holding back.

“It’s nothing.  I...I’m still thinking about all that’s happened.” I lied.

“Well, just know that I’ll always be yours and yours alone.  And when you do decide to tell me what’s wrong, I’ll be there for ya, dude.”

I nodded my appreciation and walked to my class.  For the rest of the day, I was in my own little coma, oblivious to all that was around me.  I kept thinking and analyzing everything that Ashlee told me.  When it was time to go home, just about all my friends asked about my sudden mood change.  Tyler decided to try to break through again and by now I had all I could take.  I confessed everything to Tyler, and to Ben, Mark, and Dave, who were there as well.  I told all about my conversation with Ashlee.  Needless to say, they were all ticked.  Ben said to confront my mother ASAP; Mark said to wait until he got Cameron out of the hospital.  Dave said that he would back me up no matter what I decided to do.  Tyler, however, stayed eerily silent.  I think that this had the most impact on him; after all, he was my lover.  I tried to convince them that this was something I had to do alone, but they would have none of it.  They all told me that this affected them just as much as it does me.  I could see that I was outnumbered and surrendered to their way.

We went and picked up Cameron.  The car was getting crowded with six people in it.  Cameron was informed of all the new info and quickly got just as angry as the rest of them.  I’m surprised that they didn’t try to start a riot.  I was the only one not angry.  I was scared; scared of what would happen, not only to her, but to me as well.  Would I get kicked out?  How would I survive?  It’d be too much to ask Tyler’s family to take me in.  None of my other relatives would want a queer nephew or grandson living with them either.

We got to my house and walked in.  My entire family was in the family room.  Apparently, Trista’s school only had a half-day.  They all looked surprised to see all of us standing there, some of the guys barely concealing their look of disgust.

“Son, what are all you guys doing here?  You can’t just make up a party out of nowhere, and it’s too early for a sleepover, which you also didn’t have permission to have.” my dad said.

“Dad, we need to talk to Mom, privately.” I pleaded, though I probably looked drained and defeated.  Dad could sense that I was serious though, so he left the room along with Trista.  Mom looked at us innocently enough, but looked confused as well.  Was it possible that Ashlee lied and I’m blowing this all out of proportion again, just like with Tyler and Dave?

“Gary, what is this all about?”

            “I...Ashlee said...you...” I stammered.

“We know you were behind everything!  We know that you hate Gary just because he’s not normal!” Cameron spoke.

            “What?  What are you saying?”

“I can’t believe you would do this to him.” Mark said. “Your own son.”

“I’ve known you for a long time,” said Ben, “but I never knew you’d be like this.”

“What are you guys talking about?  I didn’t do anything.  I don’t hate my own son!”

“I talked to Ashlee earlier today.  She told me about how you told her to date Ben and take him away from me.  She told me that you thought I was a spoiled...” I couldn’t say the final word.

“I...I only said that so that she’d go along with it.  I’m only doing what’s best for you.  I’m looking out for your best interests.”

            OMFG, it was fucking true.

“And his best interests are to exclude him from everyone he knows?” screamed Tyler, who finally seemed ready to burst.  “Did you even stop to consider our own relationship problems that he was working on?  And I know that you saw it, it was practically visible to everyone but me!  Or how about the fact that there were three guys in our school that wanted to, and tried to, kill us?  Did you even notice the blood on the walls?  He was freaking attacked!  Here, in his own house!  Did it ever occur to you that this was something that could’ve emotionally wrecked him for life?  He could’ve committed suicide!  Would you be happier then?  WOULD YOU??!!”

“Well, of course not.  But that’s not something he would do.”

There was a sudden silence as everyone looked at me, expecting an answer.  I couldn’t lie, but I didn’t want to tell the truth.  So I remained quiet.  That gave everyone’s answer.

“OMG.” was whispered by someone; I don’t know who.  Tyler hugged me like he was afraid of letting go.

“I’m not like that anymore.” I explained. “I’ve got you and Ben back.  I have everything to live for.”

“I am so sorry.” Dave said. “Your mom wasn’t behind yours and Tyler’s rift.  It was all me and I nearly drove you to suicide.”  He was almost ready to cry.

“I don’t want to lose Gary either.” said Mom. “But maybe we can see this as a learning experience and...”

“No, we can’t.” came a new voice.  We all turned around to see my dad and sister, whom apparently had been listening for quite some time.  Trista ran over to join me in another hug.

“At least not in Gary’s perspective.  Most everything that’s happened is your fault.” my dad said. “Now I see that Gary has forgiven Dave, but you did something much worse.  For Pete’s sake, he’s our child; our only son!  How could you think like this?  I thought we got it past you that he is still like any other boy.”

The argument went on throughout the night and well into the morning.  My dad still loved my mom, but couldn’t live with her like this.  Everyone agreed to help her understand and accept who I am.  It took weeks before any sign of progress was made.

She’s getting better now.  At the end of the school year, we all graduated.  Tyler looked stunning in his cap and gown.  He kept complimenting on how hot I looked.  Dave became good friends with all of us, not just Tyler, but still admits to having feelings for him.  Aaron, Alex, and Brian were all tried as adults, since they were eighteen, in court for attempted murder of a minor, which would be the first half of Andy and Scott, who was seventeen at the time of the attack, attempted murder of adults, which would be the rest of us, hate crimes, and other stuff.  They’re in prison now.  Andy and Scott got out of the hospital in time for graduation, though they still had to take all of their exams.  We still try to stay in touch.  Ben decided that he would go to the same college as Tyler and me.  He wanted to go in the first place, but Ashlee convinced him otherwise.  Never really saw her again.  Hope she gets a job as a hooker and gets a STD.

Dave decided at the last minute to change colleges.  He said that the one he was going to suit him more than the one we’re going to.  We told him that he didn’t have to leave because of his feeling for Tyler, but he stuck with his story.  He stopped contact with us as time went on.  I felt so sorry for him, and I should know, how it feels to lose someone you care so deeply for.  Mark and Cameron both got football scholarships and are playing college football now.  I also heard that they’re double dating.

As for Tyler and I, we enrolled in the same college as planned and got an apartment together.  Now there aren’t any pesky family members trying to pry into our personal lives.  Friends say that we act like an old married couple, which we hope to be.  Our relationship has only gotten better and stronger.  And, as I am proud to say, we have explored further into the dynamics involved in bed, behind closed doors.  We both seem to like that alot.  Our days consist of classes, part-time jobs, then spending the rest of the time with each other.  I couldn’t have asked for more.  Every night we get to say the same thing:

            “I love you.”

            “I love you too.”

The End

PAN: If you can read this, then that means that I successfully mastered the HTML coding. Cookie points for me! Yes, it seemed to tie all loose ends together quickly again, and I apologize. This was how it was written. No, I will not make a story about their college lives. You can imagine that on your own. No, Cameron and Mark are not gay. Each of the characters in the True Love Hurts series resembles someone I know/knew in real life. Gary is, according to my friends, me, but he's not. Tyler is based off the same person as Anthony is in Black Star Cross. Ben is based off of my best friend at the time (we've since lost touch with each other). Cameron was a work buddy of mine. Mark, Alex, Brian, and Aaron were all classmates I wasn't too particularly fond of, Mark to a lesser degree. Ashlee was a co-worker who wouldn't keep her nose out of my business/life. Andy, Scott, and Dave were classmates who were gay/suspected of being gay. Trista is one of my closer friends. She was okay with her being my mental punching bag in the series. The parents are just loosely based stereotypical parents. That's it. Hope you had fun reading.
