Sleeping identities and Awakening abilities

Sleeping identities and Awakening abilities

Looking out the window and into the dark cold night, where Troels would call out for Lady Wolf, his chocolate eyes searched along the housetops for any sign of the friend he met months ago. With the same response…nothing…turning he looked at his first friend that he met a few weeks ago at the park while he was looking for Lady Wolf. “I don’t know why she won’t come out” tears welled up and threatened to fall as he sat at the edge of his bed fists, and eyes clenched in fear.

The smaller girl patted Troels’s knee and made soothing noises. “But Abigail I can’t show you the wolf I promised. Don’t you hate me? I’m so sorry!” Troels opened his eyes and looked down under messy chocolate colored bangs and into small red head’s sunshine eyes, who was sitting on her knees with her head lying on his lap. “I believe you.” Troels patted Abigail’s head and her short pig tailed hair bounced with each pat. “But are you sure she’s gonna come…how do you know?”

Snarling at her, he looked away, pushed her off and started to pace “Because I can feel it, she’s coming tonight.” Troels went to the window and looked outside into the hot night and would of stayed there too if Abigail didn’t start talking again. “Why can’t we shut the windows, turn on the air, and wait in the COLD air?”

The summer had brought nasty humid air, no wind early on leaving people to suffer, and the weatherman to tell them it was a code red. “Well…” Troels walked closer to the bed and glanced at the window then to the clock.

Abigail gasped and went deathly pale, shaking and pointing at the window. “Troooooelssss!” Little Abigail stuttered and Troels turned around. Inside a foot from the window stood a black and red wolf with sapphire eyes and ruby pupils.

“Lady Wolf! I know you’d come!” Troels threw himself at the over sized wolf happily “Abigail meet Lady Wolf. Lady Wolf this is my friend Abigail I met her a few weeks ago, she’s my first friend not counting you.”

Lady Wolf studied the human girl *Of course she is and of course you would say something like that…stupid kid* she looked at the two kids bitterly *don’t you even realize the danger you are both in just looking at me? Of course not your kids* snorting she turned to jump back out the window.

Troels ran outside and jumped on the wolf’s back, which made her jump in surprise and bare her teeth in return. “Lady Wolf you promised! But can Abby come too?” Troels ran his fingers through the think fur, which even in the heat was cool, clean, and shiny, as Abigail shook her head no. “I... I heard thoughts…I don’t wanna.” Troels smiles at her. “That happens when any animal is around we both know that now come on Abby!” Lady Wolf stared at the girl in thought, glanced up at the boy once, and nodded her head in agreement her tail swished making a cool breeze through the area.

“Come on Abby, it’ll be fun!” Troels laughed again and pulled her up on the wolf and she sat behind him holding tightly onto his waist as his hands were tightly holding onto the black collar on her neck. “Run Lady Wolf! Run like the wind blows!” Troels begged and ‘Lady Wolf’ looked at the tops of the other houses and both children cried out as obediently she dove out the window and was running out of the town at speeds normal wolves wouldn’t be able to match in their whole life.

They raced through the forests winding through streets going faster than any other dog or wolf could go, going faster and faster they moved from the tree-filled area to a concrete filled area. “Lady Wolf!” Troels whined holding on tightly. Lady Wolf finally stopped at what looked like an old abandon house ready about to fall apart. “Troels I don’t like this.” Abigail whimpered hugging the boy in front of her tightly. Letting go of the collar he touched her arm trying to comfort her but was just as scared as she was. “Okay Lady Wolf I wanna go home now.” Troels reached down and tugged on the collar in slight fear as Lady Wolf’s eyes darted to the top of some of the old houses.

A plum furred wolf with dipped emerald colored paws and tail slinked across the top of the abandon houses like an alley cat getting closer to the left side of the group. *Do you realize how fast I had to go to catch up with you? I’M NOT THAT FAST!* A silver pendant shaped like a six pointed star lay in the center of her forehead above her eyes, with a simple chain hidden in the fur around her head holding it in place. Wild silver eyes examined the area in pure curiosity. A black spiked collar adorns her neck as a sword was attached to her side with fire markings on the sheath and blade. On the plum wolf’s back sat two twin girls around the age of 10 who looked just as frightened to see the other wolf as Abigail did and Troels are.

The two kids gripped onto Lady Wolf’s fur tightly shaking in fear. “Come on Lady Wolf lets go home, this isn’t fun anymore.” Troels stated softly trying not to draw attention to his self and almost screamed as another wolf showed up.

A few houses to the right of Lady was another wolf was a black pelt, red-eyed wolf with black rimmed glasses that looked like something Jack Osbourne wore. While strapped to his side was an electric guitar, and attached to its back was a katana. Lady Wolf stared at the wolf and tocked her tail in greetings a boy sat on the black wolf’s back looking around the age of 12.

Instead of moving away as the other kids hoped, she went closer and a black pelt with a white tipped tail and eared wolf trotted up to Lady Wolf from out of the abandon house that was in front of her, light grey eyes dashed around looking at the surroundings around her. It stood out among the other wolves by its single triangular patch of white fur that was above its nose. In addiction to the white triangle on the nose, it had an upside down white triangle patch under each eye. The wolf wore circled earrings on its left ear and two metal cuffs at the bottom of its left leg a white, black and blue crystal bead necklace was around its neck with blue and white markings all over them. No kid was on its back like the other wolves had.

The two wolves looked at each other and dove. Abigail and Troels fell off by not having any hold on the collar and Lady Wolf rubbed against the slightly bigger wolf in high affections. * I missed you baby* the black wolf licked Lady Wolf’s face *and I missed you* she nuzzled into his neck.

“Troels who is that?” Abigail pointed at the black wolf rubbing her ears annoyed at hearing strange noises. Troels gapped at the two dire wolves forgetting about the other two wolves on the houses. “Lady Wolf? Is this where you’ve been? You got a mate?” Troels moved a bit closer to the two wolves in question.

The black and white unknown wolf spotted Troels coming near and jumped in front of her snarling loudly its lips curled back showing off razor blade sharp teeth. Staring at the kids and the other wolf, Lady Wolf nipped its ears gaining the wolf’s attention immediately. *Love, they are purity children. They can cause no harm.* the black wolf narrowed its eyes at the boy then turned back to her *doesn’t mean I have to like then right?* Lady Wolf licked the black wolf’s cheek *right* they rubbed together making a purring growling like noise.

The plum wolf barked annoyed at the show of affections. *We have a job to do these kids are in danger!* the two girls whined at the plum wolf about going back home but the wolf ignored them easily.

Abigail cooed watching the two romanticizing wolves with great interest as Troels just stood there confused. The boy on the black wolf started yelling noisily ignoring the warning growl from the stressed out wolf. “Who are you people?!”

Abigail and Troels looked at each other as the two girls looked at each other. Troels spoke up first “I’m Troels and this is my friend Abigail and this is Lady Wolf…who are you guys?” Troels gulped trying not to sound nervous.

The boy jumped off his wolf and stood up tall with crossed arms “I’m Echo and this is my partner Amida.” The three kids turned to the twins waiting. They in turn slid off their wolf and stood on either side of her “I’m Vesta” The twin with short blonde hair bowed slightly. “And I’m Ceres” The long blonde haired twin bowed slightly. “And this is Athena.” They said at once.

The wolves seem to have other thoughts though the kids wanted to go home. The two wolves, Athena and Amida, jumped off the roof grabbing their charges at the last minute and sat them down on the ground, then trotted to Lady Wolf and the other black and white wolf.

The Athena gave a sort of bow and trotted forward stopping a foot away from her. She let out a few whining noises then barked. *Life is too short to spend it on babies* the black and white wolf snorted in agreement stamping his huge paw into the concrete ground.

Lady Wolf snorted at the two wolves. *Shows what you two know, these just happen to be purity brats* the Athena and Amida stepped back and went wide-eyed. *Purity? Are you sure! I’ve been watching those twins for a few weeks how can you be so sure?*

*Positive I have been watching the boy for three years now. How’s Patches with the orphans? On top of that, watch the way they look at you when you talk* Lady Wolf looked back at the kids confused faces. *Did I mention the girl is one too? They can pick up slightly on our conversation right now more the girl than the boy* Lady Wolf looked at them with pride. The black and white wolf snorted in disgust *should we be talking about this now then?* he had his long tail slightly wrapped around Lady Wolf ignoring the Patches comment.

Athena cocked her head thoughtfully * I think we should…and Patches is doing fine I checked on her a few days ago* nodding she looked at Lady Wolf in waiting to give orders.

*So the abilities to feel what animals feel are awakening…oh dear the countdown could start soon we must go warn the crone!* Amida began to pace and Lady Wolf snarled in distaste. *The children are not to be gathered just yet and honey, its hear what animals say not feel* Light tinged the sky as they talked or what anyone heard, barking, snarling, and just plain old doggish noises. *Meeting later on…I have news* Nodding the four wolves parted but not before Lady Wolf and the black, white wolf gave a heart filled good bye and they left sadly for home.

Picking up the two kids, Lady Wolf ran like the wind back to Troels’s window where she had to go into the room and toss them off her back onto the bed. She went to go back out the window when the sun came up all the way bathing the black and red wolf is silver and gold light.

The two kids rubbed their eyes looking at her “Lady Wolf…you’re a…you’re a…you’re a girl!” Troels jaw dropped as Abigail jumped on the bed wide-awake and pointed at the half-naked girl in aw.

Instead of the huge dire wolf stood a teenaged girl with black above the knee type skirt and a black hoody, black combat boots were on her feet and all the jewelry Lady Wolf wore she wore. “Don’t scream please don’t scream.” The girl looked around worriedly ready to jump out the window in a seconds notice.

Abigail stepped off the bed and looked at the taller girl. “Was it your thoughts I heard?” ‘Lady Wolf’ stared at her sadly “I’m sorry Abigail but I can’t tell you that now, but know I will be back by the next season. Don’t tell anyone else about me okay? I don’t even know whats going on…” She snuck out the window as the two kids just watched her go.

Snapping out of surprise Troels ran to the window “Lady Wolf! Don’t leave us! What’s going on!?” Pulling himself out the window he looked around for the girl but only found two Celtic hourglasses and the grains were falling slowly. “Troels….what are they?” Abigail sat on the windowpane.

Troels handed one to her and took the other climbing back inside with Abby’s help “Well it looks like hourglasses…..but I can feel…this aura and it tells me when the grains are all done Lady Wolf will return…”Troels looked far away when looking into the hourglass.

“I hope so…” Abigail and Troels made their way into bed and slept soundly their hourglasses hidden under the bed glowing mysteriously.
