Chapter 2: Away

Sophia awoke hearing the loud thud from down below her.

“Mr. Rimy is that you? Is everything okay?” She yelled down stairs. When there was no response she ran back into her room and locked the door. She had no reason to believe that it wasn’t the monster that had stalked her but she had also suspected it to be a criminal or thief trying to rob them. She didn’t know and didn’t want to find out either.

Her breathing was slow and steady as she awaited whatever it was. Standing by her door she braced herself for some sort of blow of any kind. She could only wish that her father was there to save her once again but this time her life depended solely on herself. In all her 17 years of living she had never been taught how to ward off criminals or even beastly creatures other than to call the police but the phone hadn’t been near and she was beginning to panic. She was afraid that whoever it was was going to kill her.

A soft thud could be heard impending up the back stairs and Sophia knew that it was the beast. Its breaths were loud and beastly like a hungry lion, frightening to any one that heard and they were coming closer and closer. Sophia had to think fast.

“No…no please what do I do?” She said to herself looking back between the window and the door. If she were to make a jump for it she would probably risk breaking a few bones and than it would be impossible for her to escape then. If she stayed she risked being caught. Because of the beasts immense strength she knew that it could easily break down her door and capture her in a heartbeat without any one even knowing. Her palms were sweating and her breathing was beginning to speed up with each footstep.

With a loud crash she darted from the door to the window climbing out and onto the hard brick wall. She tried to get a foothold just as her arm was grabbed and yanked upward. She felt as if it had been broken by such a force being put on it and cried out in pain and shock.

“Ahhh!!” She screamed, swinging back and forth all the while trying to find something to hold onto before she was pulled back up and into her window where she was sure the beast would kill her. Its sharp claws made gashes in her sensitive flesh and nearly ripped her shirt to shreds effortlessly.

“Get back here!” It roared, lifting Sophia by the collar of her shirt. She struggled but to no avail. It had her and was pulling her back up into the window and right into its hands. “I Don’t want to hurt you Sophia but I will if I must if you insist on fighting me,” It snarled, its long black hair falling through the window and overshadowing Sophia’s face.

“Please don’t hurt me! I just want my father,” She pleaded, falling with a thud onto her carpeted floor. Her arms were still bound by the beasts paws. It lifted her and pushed her roughly against the cold wall.

“Your father isn’t here to save you this time my sweet. You are mine now and I believe I made that clear a few nights ago,” it growled, its warm breath warming Sophia’s chilled skin. She turned to rid herself of the Beasts snarling face.

Sophia, unable to find her voice, grabbed a handful of the Beasts fur and tugged violently. The beast growled loudly and grabbed hold of Sophia’s neck where it held tightly paralyzing her. She gasped for air.

“You haven’t any words for me? Speak my little beautiful one your voice pleases me,” it said mockingly, brushing one of its clawed fingers over Sophia’s flushed flesh.

Sophia didn’t say a word to afraid to be impaled once more. She closed her eyes tightly hoping that it would all be a dream and that she would awake in her warm bed by the fire as her father sung softly in the distance one of his favorite choruses but in her heart she knew that it wasn’t the case. She had to face the reality of her situation.

“I shall take you back with me where you belong. You will live with me in my fortress away from these humans. Your beauty is much to valuable to let go,” he said, nipping slightly at her naked shoulder. She moaned with fright trying her hardest to pull away from its clutches.

“What is this I see?” The beast said, removing a few strands of hair from Sophia’s tearing eyes. He was astounded to see that one of her beautiful orbs had been a wonderful shade of ocean blue while the other was a emerald green coloring. Her beautiful auburn hair blew in the soft breeze of the noon day, the matching freckles above her nose seeming to play innocently on her almond colored skin. He stared amazed at her beauty.

“Your mother must have been a very amazing woman of such splendid beauty,” He said, loosing his grip on her neck. It ran its furry fingers over her glazed eyes. “Your eyes, they are disoriented your pupils dilated. What is wrong with your eyes?” He asked, a look of concern crossing his features. It hadn’t noticed before the deficiency.

Sophia was silent unwilling to speak openly on her condition for she was going blind and her eyes were only growing worse over time. Her double colored eyes had been beautiful but also caused a problem with her vision. She hadn’t told many people about it.

“With me you shall go beautiful one. With me you will be safe from harm and away from the cruel race you call humans. With me you will have jewels suited for your beauty and anything else you desire. You shall live in my forest along with the other creatures,” He said, lifting her up into his arms bridal style. Sophia hadn’t been prepared for being taken away from her home and hadn’t wanted to be departed from her father or the butler she had grown to love.

“Please…let me go,” Sophia said in a low almost inaudible voice. The beast grabbed her tightly in its clutches.

“I want you for myself. You are mine now little one,” Was all he said before, with such swiftness and balance, it jumped out of Sophia’s bedroom window and landed with a soft thud onto the grassy earth below. Sophia struggled in its arms kicking her legs wildly in order to free herself and run for help. The beast merely ceased all of her movements with a soft press to her neck causing her to blackout almost immediately.

It hadn’t taken long for the beast, Leo, to reach his destination. He stopped just below the rather large piece of land holding atop it a mansion of mammoth proportion. Its walls spread wide and far seeming unreachable and the fields went on for miles. Beautiful garden of daisies, petunia’s and roses could be seen from miles away leading up to grand double doors of mahogany decorated with golden trim. It was a sight to behold.

“My home,” Leo said, treaded up to the wonderful establishment. It breathed in deeply the fresh air and smell of flowers as he was greeted by a tall man to whom was beastly as well but with light brown fur and long silver hair that reached its ankles. It bowed slightly before opening the huge doors leading to the inside.

“Welcome home,” It said, staring down at the small girl in Leo’s arms. He could see that she was sleeping soundly.

“Thank you Danshing I am glad to be back after such a long search,” Leo said, stepping into the doorway. It immediately ascended the stairs to a large room decorated with light blue and green curtains as well as bed coverings. There were large dressers of the finest wood placed in different areas around the room along with a few beautiful painting of flying women and powerful men with large staffs.

He laid Sophia atop the Queen sized bed and opened the curtains wide enough to let a significant amount of light inside before leaving the room. A click of the door signified its being locked.

After a few more minutes Sophia awoke softly rubbing her eyes with her palms. She hadn’t remember ever leaving home but all too fast the occurrences from previously began to catch up with her. She thrust up from the bed and looked around frantically remembering that the beast she had met earlier had somehow sent her into a deep slumber of sorts.

“Father! Where are you?!” She said, hysterically stumbling around the room for in the morning her vision was very disoriented making her unable to see for long periods of time or until she was able to wash them out with ointment. She held onto the walls for support as she felt around helplessly for any way to escape.

“I’m scared…please someone answer me!” She pleaded, wiping her eyes in an attempt to clear them. She stopped in her tracks when she could hear a soft thud in the distance. It seemed to be impending but she wasn’t sure what it was. She backed up slowly afraid to meet the breast from earlier again. There was a loud clink and then a creak as the door opened revealing Danshing holding a rather large plate of food.

“You must eat girl. I have food for you here… Leo’s orders,” he said, sitting down the plate on a small table near the window.

Sophia didn’t say a word only staring down at the blurred plate of food that she made out to be hot bread and butter along with some strawberry jam and assorted fruits and cheeses. On the side was a mug of piping hot apple cider.

Danshing stared over at the frightened girl unsure of what to say to her to assure that he wouldn’t harm her in any way. He knelt down holding out his hand to her.

“Come. I promise you no harm little girl,” he said, extending his hand further. Sophia hadn’t known what to do but thought it best to comply and not put up a fight just yet. Her vision was beginning to clear enough for her to get a good look at the creature. Immediately she withdrew seeing the resemblance between it and the beast from earlier. Its hair was longer and silver and it was thicker according to its muscles and fur. Its body had been a light brown color and it was clothed more, wearing a longer flap across its abdomen along with a sort of armored shirt that covered its arms up to its elbows. Its face seemed meaner more daunting and that frightened Sophia. Its long fangs stuck out from beneath its top lip and its eyes were dark almost completely black but its ears, like Leo, were covered in jewelry golden earring hoops that glistened in the daylight.

“Nngg,” Sophia moaned, backing away from Danshing quickly. Danshing hadn’t known if the girl couldn’t talk or not because she hadn’t said a word but was sure that for some reason she was afraid of him though he hadn’t caused any harm to her. He stood to his feet.

“I shall leave you to your meal child,” it said before leaving the room and Sophia. She took in a deep breath. She had been scared of the mean looking creatures too afraid to say much to them she usually just kept silent.

Sophia feeling safe enough to commence eating the meal she was given began walking over to the hot tray of food. She knelt down in front of it, smelling it first before pulling off a small piece of the hot buttery bread. She loved the taste. She pulled off a few more pieces, dipping them in the strawberry jam and took a sip of the hot cider. The meal was exceptionally good and only as she began eating did she realize how hungry she had been. She finished off all of the bread and cheese and half of the other items before nearly collapsing where she sat. She was quite full from the big lunch.

“I’m glad to see that you’ve eaten quite a bit,” Leo said, entering the room silently nearly shocking Sophia to death. She stumbled nearly knocking herself unconscious trying to get away from the beast that had just entered. The long night gown she had been wearing tore, leaving a long stripe of her thigh exposed. She had noticed at first leaving Leo with a wonderful view of her taut backside. It had been perfectly round, slightly pale and flustered from the cold. He had to control himself from pouncing on and ravaging her where she laid struggling to get back up to escape from him.

“Sophia need you to stop struggling and come to me,” Leo said, reaching out his hand. Sophia backed away more frustrating him until he was forced to seize her himself. He grabbed hold of her ankle, gently pulling her toward him in an attempt to get her to calm down. She screeched loudly, astonished by the assault. Leo pulled her up into his arms cooing her until she quieted down enough.

“Nnng,” She moaned, twisting and turning in his arms. Leo grabbed her and pinned her beneath him in an effort to still her. She immediately ceased struggling afraid of what he would do to her.

“Sophia why do you fight me so? I do not wish to harm you unless I am forced to do so. Please I want to talk to you,” Leo said softly, so close Sophia could feel his warm breath against her forehead. Her eyes glassed over with the intentions of crying.

“Please…take me home,” Sophia said softly muscles tightening from fright. She could imagine that her father would be distraught to go home to a house where she had been absent for so long and that saddened her.

“I cannot do that Sophia. I’m afraid that I cannot let you go because I have become attached to you. I will treat you better than your father ever could I promise you that, “ he said, staring deep into her crying eyes. Her mere innocence had aroused him immensely each and every time he had been near her and her beautiful almost breathtakingly gentle voice warmed his heart tenderly the point where his sanity had to be questioned. He wanted her very much so enough that he would do anything to keep her and he found himself becoming possessive over her.

There was a loud knocking at the door causing Sophia to jump.

“Who goes there?” Leo called to the person on the other side of the door.

“It is me Danshing. I must speak with you Lord Leo,” He said somewhat urgently. Leo with a scowl released Sophia and she dashed off to the corner where she got into fetal a position. Leo stared down at her frightened form. He was glad to have had such a disturbance for if he didn’t he was sure to have taken her right then and there.

“I will be back in the morning my little beautiful one,” he said walking off before disappearing from the room. Sophia closed her eyes and hoped she would wake up from a very horrible nightmare.
