3. We're Caught
Talan shot up. He looked around and found himself in bed with his new boyfriend. Then he remembered how great the night before had been. He averted his eyes to the clock radio on the night stand next to Lucas’ bed. The time was 8:45.
“Lucas,” he sad slapping Lucas’ arm. “Wake up.”
“Huh?” Lucas said yawning, “What time is it?”
“8:45,” Talan replied. “We have an hour and fifteen minutes to get showered, and back to my house, which is a thirty minute drive by the way, and to work.”
“There’s no time for both of us to shower,” Lucas said. “Unless.”
“Unless what?” Talan asked, “Oh! Unless we shower together?”
“Yeah,” Lucas said. “I mean it’s not sex or anything. Yes we’ll be wet and naked, but there doesn’t have to be any sexual contact.”
“Well,” Talan laughed. “We would be moving a little fast to have sex only hours after we became a couple.”
“Yeah,” Lucas laughed. “But let’s get in then. My parent’s aren’t home don’t worry.”
“You sure this is okay?” Talan asked following him to the bathroom.
They entered the bathroom.
“Yeah sure,” Lucas said. “I’m sure it’s gunna happen eventually. Eventually just came earlier than I thought it would.”
Lucas pulled his t-shirt off and his pants down leaving him in his boxers. Then he pulled them down. He was now naked.
“Talan!” Lucas laughed, “Stop staring and get undressed. We are going to be late ‘cause of you.”
Talan blinked. Then pulled his shirt and shorts down to the ground along with his boxers. Lucas reached into the shower and turned the water to a nice hot temperature and the two got in. The hot water soaked them like the rain that they first kissed in.
“Wow,” Lucas said. “I mean wow.”
“Wow yourself,” Talan smiled. “This makes it hard not to want to… well you know.”
“Yeah it does,” Lucas said pulling Talan to him. “But it will make it so much better when we are ready right?”
“Yes,” Talan said. “Yes it will.”
They kissed.
“Now let’s get clean,” Lucas said squirting some shampoo onto his hands and running it through Talan’s hair and then through his own. “Let me make sure your hair gets nice and clean. I can’t be around a smelly guy.”
“Shut up,” Talan laughed massaging his fingers through Lucas’ blonde hair. “You have really pretty eyes you know that.”
“Thanks,” Lucas put his wet hand on Talan’s wrist and smiled. “You do too.”
“You’re only saying that ‘cause I did,” Talan joked.
“You wish,” Lucas said. “But we are going to be late if we don’t actually shower.”
“Good call,” Talan smiled.
Talan washed the shampoo out of his hair and so did Lucas. The bottle of body wash was next for use in their shower. Talan grabbed it and squirted it all over his hand. He glided his glob filled hand down the middle of Lucas’ upper body.
“Ah,” Lucas said flinching. “That’s cold.”
“Take it like a man,” Talan said rubbing it all over.
“Ahh,” Lucas said flinching again.
“What now?” Talan said.
“That felt so good,” Lucas said.
“Well,” Talan said. “I’d better not do that again.”
“Aw,” Lucas said.
Lucas smiled. Talan smiled back. Lucas took a glob of body wash and began rubbing it all over Talan. He covered every inch of Talan with his wet hands. Talan did the same to him. The moved under the water and rinsed themselves off.
“Shoot,” Lucas said as he turned the water off.
“What now?” Talan asked.
“I forgot to grab us towels,” Lucas said. “The only clean ones I have are in my room.”
“Oh dear,” Talan joked. “All the way across the hall! How terrible for us.”
“Jerk,” Lucas frowned. “You are just so mean to me.”
“I could be meaner,” Talan said.
“How’s that?” Lucas raised his eyebrow.
“I could,” Talan inched himself closer to Lucas. “I could… never touch you with body wash again in your life.”
“Oh boo,” Lucas laughed. “You can’t resist me.”
“You’re right,” Talan said. “I can’t, you win. Now I’m cold so let’s get those towels.”
“You got it,” Lucas winked.
They walked out of the bathroom, across the hall, and into Lucas’ room where some towels were. They each dried themselves off.
Talan put on his clothes from the day before and Lucas put on his work clothes.
“Let’s get going k?” Lucas said, “I don’t wanna make a valued employee of seven months late.”
“And if you’re late you’ll probably be fired,” Talan smiled.
“Have you ever even been late to work?” Lucas asked, “Or fired for that matter.”
“I’ve been late once by fifteen minutes,” Talan said as they walked out of Lucas’ house and to his car. “But I’ve never been fired.”
“Good,” Lucas said as they got into the car. “I need a hard working man to buy me things.”
“You wish,” Talan grinned. “My two jobs are to pay for me going to college this fall remember?”
“Aw not even a little present?” Lucas said as they drove out of his driveway and to Talan’s house.
“Nope,” Talan said. “Only presents are for me!”
Talan stuck his tongue out.
***
Lucas pulled into Talan’s drive.
“I’ll see you at work in like three minutes,” Talan said.
“I’ll wait for you outside then,” Lucas said.
“Aw you’re sweet,” Talan said kissing his cheek.
Talan got out of the car and ran inside.
His dogs barked at him entering the house. They wanted out but he didn’t have time. He ran up to his room and changed into his work clothes. He snatched his keys and ran to his car.
***
It took a little longer than three minutes for Talan to get to work. But, not by much. There was still seven minutes until they had to be at work. Lucas was waiting on the bench outside.
“Hey,” Lucas said as Talan walked up.
“Hey,” Talan said. “Ready to go in?”
“Sure,” Lucas said.
They walked into the automatic double doors and up to the break room where they could clock in. No one was on break. The room was empty.
“No one’s on break,” Talan said. “That’s weird. There’s always someone on break.”
“They may just not be on break yet,” Lucas said smiling.
“That’s true,” Talan said.
“Let’s make out on this leather couch,” Lucas said.
“No way,” Talan said. “Someone could walk in and see us. Then that would blow this all being a secret.”
Lucas laughed. “You said blow,” he continued.
“This is what I get for agreeing to date a high school student,” Talan joked.
“Aw,” Lucas said. “That’s not very nice.”
“Just joking,” Talan said pulling Lucas towards him and kissing him.
“Am I interrupting something?” A coworker of theirs said entering the break room.
They broke the kiss and glared at her.
Talan looked back up at Lucas, took a deep breath, and quickly shuffled out of the room.
“Um yeah,” Lucas said. “I gotta go to work. Don’t tell anyone k? Please.”
***
The day went on slowly for Talan. He barely showed any emotion to his customers.
Lucas tried not to let one person knowing bother him. When it died down a little he turned to his coworker.
“So Monica,” Lucas said.
“Yeah?” She replied.
“So about,” Lucas continued. “Well you know. Um, you aren’t gunna tell anyone are you?”
“Tell anyone what?” She said raising her eyebrows.
“Don’t make me say it,” Lucas said walking up to her lane. “We’re trying to keep it a secret.”
“Oh that,” Monica said. “Why is it a big deal if you guys are… together.”
“Um,” Lucas said. “It’s a huge deal. First boy… well you know. They are big deal to guys like us. Just don’t tell anyone. Please?”
“It’s not my business,” Monica said. “I won’t say anything.”
“Promise?” Lucas said.
“You have a customer,” Monica said pointing to a customer. “But yes I promise.”
“Thanks,” Lucas turned away to help his customer.
***
It was time for Talan to leave. He walked up to the break room and clocked out. Then he left. No goodbye to Lucas.
***
Lucas got off work and clocked out. He wasn’t feeling too upbeat since Talan left without saying goodbye to him. He walked outside and headed towards his car. Talan was leaning on his car door.
“Hey,” Lucas said approaching him. “You’re here?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Talan asked.
“You didn’t say goodbye,” Lucas said looking down. “I figured you were mad. Or that we were over. Are we over?”
“Would I be here if we were?” Talan asked grabbing his hand.
“I guess not,” Lucas said rubbing his thumb over his hand.
“Listen Lucas,” Talan said. “I really like you. Something like that won’t break us up. If people have to find out then they will. Their opinions don’t matter to me.”
“Really?” Lucas said, “Then why do you want to keep it a secret?”
“Because,” Talan said. “Our relationship should be between us. Not between us and everyone else in the world.”
“That’s why I like you,” Lucas said moving closer. “You always say such honest things. You’re true.”
“I would never lie to you,” Talan said. “I drove my car home.”
“Why?” Lucas said.
“So I could walk back,” Talan said smiling. “So you could give me a ride home. Like we agreed last night, but forgot this morning.”
“That’s sweet,” Lucas said. “But let’s not kiss right here. People could see.”
“Like Monica did?” Talan said.
“Yeah,” Lucas said. “Like Monica did. She promised not to tell though.”
“I hope she keeps that promise,” Talan said. “Now let’s go.”
He let go of his hand, smiled, and headed to the other side of Lucas’ car. They both got in. Lucas turned the car on and drove out of the parking lot.
