New Encounter

Walking down the hall, Athena felt a bit uncomfortable walking inside the school with no one to accompany her. It felt like walking through a ghost town, except smaller. It didn't take long until she saw a tumble-weed sneakily sweep past her. She stopped in her tracks, taking in the little event that just happened. Looking around, she noticed a door where the tumble-weed came from with a large sign that had "Drama Class" neatly painted onto it. Athena couldn't help but smile, thinking how ironic it was that the tumble-weed passed her as she just thought of the school hallways resembling a ghost town.

After taking the stairs down the levels of the school, she finally made it to the bottom. Her eyes took a single glance at the wide doors before her before looking to the ground. It helped her, looking at the ground when she thought. She walked over to the doors, pushing them with all her might so she could escape the silent halls into the outside world. A smile graced her lips as she finally made it out, inhaling the fresh air that spun around her. The birds were singing in their joyful tunes, indicating that they were fully fed and have finished napping. The sun greeted the world with it's rays, telling everyone to get ready for the rest of the day.

Athena continued her walk outside, now walking over to the gates that seperated her school from the all boys school. Once she reached the gates, she gripped onto them, placing her forehead onto the cool, metal bars. It felt wonderful as it came in contact with her warm skin. She looked into the front of the boys' school, seeing how it looked similar to hers. It wasn't much of a shocker, but at the same time; it was. She faintly smiled, feeling the gentle breeze brush against her exposed skin. She couldn't help but giggle.

"Hey, you. What are you doing outside of school? Your lunch break isn't even in another half an hour." A voice was heard, not too far from where Athena was.

Athena quickly let go of the bars, stepping a foot or two back from the gate. Her gaze darted from here to there, wondering where the voice came from.

Walking up in front of Athena was a man, about her age. He had amber coloured hair that faded to black. His eyes were green, that had a slight hint of turquoise. The outfit he wore easily told anyone that he was a high schooler, just like Athena. "Well?" The voice returned, causing Athena to return into the real world, other than her own little world.

"O-Oh.. I'm just taking a walk before lunch, that's all. I had permission from my teacher, see?" She slipped her hand into the pocket of her skirt, taking out a piece of paper, showing it to the man. It made her feel guilty that she was using a four-day-old hall pass, but she didn't know any other way on how to tell the man how she was able to come out before lunch began.

The guy smiled and nodded, then walked a few steps to the wall that seperated the school yard from the outside world. He leaned against the wall, watching Athena as she followed him. "What's your name?" He cooed, trying not to startle her.

Athena stood before the wall, looking down before answering. "You know.. I've always heard that it's more polite to give out your name before asking the other for theirs." She grinned, taking the advantages of manners that she learned in class not too long ago.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "Ah, you're right. Please, accept my sincere apology. My name is Joel.. Joel Tanner." He gently bowed, hoping that she would now respect him.

Walking away from the wall, she bowed back to Joel, standing straight up as she smiled. "Well, Joel. My name is Athena Haven." She stuck her hand between the bars of the gate, hoping to shake hands with him. Joel obliged, taking his hand in hers. What Athena didn't expect, was he brung her hand up to his lips, placing a soft kiss onto the back of her hand.

Never experiencing that before, she retrieved her hand, taking it like it had just been bitten by a snake. Joel chuckled, seeing her reaction. "I'm sorry. Are you sensitive? Your name is just so.. You're as beautiful as a Goddess. I feel inferior to you. The only thing holding me back from embracing you, though, are these damned gates." He continued to chuckle, then let it fade as he saw Athena look down. "Hey.. Are you alright? Are you sick?"

Athena couldn't explain the words. Her face flushed from his chuckle, she felt her body heat up fast, her heart even started to beat in a way that she thought she was going to die. Or she was just sick. She shook her thought to erase the thoughts, then kept shaking her head to answer him. "No.. I'm alright.. Just... You're a Foxworth student, aren't you?" Athena took her time before facing Joel, her face finally the same peachy-color as it was before.

Joel grinned as a response, nodding his head. "Yep. It seems you're a Sakura student.. Then I hope we meet at the dance."

She blinked, not knowing what to say at first. "So you know about the dance.. What year are you in?"

"I'm in my third year. Pretty boring by now.. What about you? What year are you in?"

Athena mentally made a face. "W-Wow, you're in your third year..! That's amazing! ... I'm only in my second...." She looked down, being the person who now felt inferior to the other.

"Aww, don't be so ashamed.. I think that's cool." Joel gave Athena a calm smile, which made her smile without thinking.

Before she could speak again, she could hear familiar voices behind her...

"Athena! Athena! Athena! What have I told you about those boys?! You're not supposed to speak to such.. such.. creatures!" Aphrodite bellowed, a bit angered that her younger sister was speaking to one of the men she claimed to be 'lewd'.

"But, big sis! He's so nice!" Athena whimpered, trying to get her big sister's attention.

With that, Aphrodite wrapped her arm around Athena's waist, dragging her away from the gate, the other two following.

Athena didn't want to leave, but then felt a bit content as she saw Joel blow a kiss to her.

I really hope to meet him again soon...

Sorry for the chapters being so short. My creative mind sort of like.. poof, right after I made the character information. I promise that the next chapter will be longer though. If I even post the next chapter up.
