chapter three finding con

Chapter three Finding Con

Vox sniffed the ground he walked on, long gone was the path he had been following. He guessed that this was the path than Con followed because it had his faint scent. The reason it was faint was because it was covered by the strong scent of strong wolves. Also in the dirt every now and then he could find a smaller footprint that was not covered by the bigger wolves.

There were signs of a struggle when the path got wider, and Vox put together the scene. The wolves must have split in half and sent one half in another direction. This was obvious because a while back the footprints were less and some led into the woods. Vox had thought nothing of it because in a chase some were bound to give up before others. The half that went into the woods had found some kind of short cut and wound up right in front of poor Con. They got him onto his back but he managed to escape them, blood led into the bushes. Vox followed the trail, expecting to find a corpse.

Instead he found a pack of wolves drooling over his cornered friend, who was being mounted forcefully. Vox’s eyes widened in horror as he watched his new friend get raped. He yet out a yip as they threw Con to the side and began beating on him again. All eyes turned to him and he began to run.

He was halfway to the lake and his wounds were burning. Tears if pain blinded him from the world around him. Blood leaked down his legs and chest. Everything was spinning and he was barely breathing but something told him to keep going and to not stop.

Now he was at the lake and his whole world cleared and slowed. He looked back to see the wolves close behind, saliva dripping form their opened jaws. Then he looked ahead and everything was clear. The beaver!

With his last ounce of strength he jumped over the beaver, sliding to the ground in a cloud of dust. He heard yelping before his world went black.

A heavenly face was looking down on him when he opened his eyes. The singing of angles filled his ears and he knew something had gone terribly wrong. The beaver must have been attacked, and dead, the wolves must have got to him. He was dead and now he was meeting his maker.

But when things cleared he was not looking at some angel, but the battered and blue face of Con. Heavenly whisperings he had heard where just Con asking him if he was okay and begging him to get up.

He began sitting up, but when he tried he fell back. His body and mind were swimming with nausea and pain. Con whimpered nervously and put a little bit of skin that was cooled with water on his forehead.

“Don’t try to get up, you’re too sick!”

Vox smiled up at the other male and then closed his eyes.

“You should be resting, you went through more than I did!” He groaned and opened his eyes again.

Con looked down at his hands which were folded on his lap. “I’m okay, they didn’t really hurt me badly. I was so surprised when those wolves jumped out at me, I was really scared. When I saw you, I ran after you, I saw everything. How genius you were, tricking those wolves into running into that beaver. But then you collapsed and we all thought you where dead. The wolves left but I stayed, I had to wait for that beaver to be gone though. I took you back here and I have been taking care of you ever since.”

Vox looked at Con as he rambled on. “Thanks,” he said, butting into the others speech on hygiene.

“No problem mate!” Con announced in a cheeky accent.
