Chapter 3: Some Mini Golf and a Great Confession
Joshua walked in through the entrance gate.
After Joshua walked through, he too walked in. However when someone went to greet them on a warm welcome, they came to him instead of Joshua. "Oh hello there mister! Are you taking out your little brother? How cute! Maybe you'd like to take me out somewhere, sometime?" Some woman who worked there asked him all googly eyed.
Joshua frowned, feeling rejected. He had fallen for Amber and Derek had come and he had to sit and watch her get oogled. Now he had the same feeling, his stomach turning to knots, very confused with why he was feeling that. I mean, come on. It's not like he is in love with another GUY, right?!...Right?
Derek shrugged while shaking his head. "Sorry miss but he's not my brother, he's my boyfriend." Derek said while not only wrapping an arm around his shoulder but leaning down and planting one on Joshua's lips. When he looked up at her, her face was twisted in disgust and she walked off in the opposite direction. With a shake of his head he continued walking ahead, removing his arm from the others shoulder. "Coming?"
Joshua stared at him wide-eyed. He gulped as he followed him. "I....I am?"
"Nah, I only said that to get rid of the girl. I hate it when girls do that out of no where." Derek said with a shrug of his shoulders and a small sigh.
Joshua sighed. "Oh...yeah...me too..." he followed Derek, his heart pounding in his chest, as he had actually enjoyed hearing Derek call him his boyfriend. Another feather fell from his hair as he tried to contain himself from getting too 'excited'. He hated how Derek kept allowing him to think he was his boyfriend, but then being ignorant.
Derek looked at the cashier. "Hello there, I'd like two for a mini golf game please." He put the money on the counter. After receiving the exact change, he stuffed it in his pocket and went around the corner where the equipment was. "Pick a colored ball then pick your right size golf club." Derek said, ignorant to anything he was doing to Joshua.
Joshua sighed and grabbed a red ball and his club.
Derek picked up the dark blue and black balls. "Which balls match better with me...? Hey Joshua, which balls do you like best?" He asked, putting both balls just above his pants.
Joshua gulped. "The black one..." he muttered, looking away. He was sick of being teased.
Derek dropped the blue one and tossed the black on in the air. "Yea, I always did think black suited me." Picking up his black club, he began walking to the first course. "Ready to loose?"
"Yeah, let's go..." he walked out toward the course.
"Yo, what’s wrong?" Derek asked as he poked the other boy with the tip of his club.
Joshua looked at him. "Don't poke me with that. Please..." he murmured, rubbing the spot he had poked. Joshua sighed and then looked him in the eye. "You wanna really know what's wrong?" he asked, a third feather falling down from his hair.
Derek put the club down to lean on. "Yea, I mean you've been acting weird since I made that girl go away. If you liked her so much you could have said something. I could have introduced you to her."
Joshua sighed. "I didn't want the girl..." he took a step closer to Derek, on tippy-toes so that he could be at eye-level to him. “I want you."
Derek looked at Joshua in shock. "And why would you want someone like me?" He asked.
"I have..." he wrapped his arms around his neck gently. “Absolutely no..." he placed his hand on Derek's cheek gently. "Idea...” He kissed him softly, his eyes closed lightly.
Derek also closed his eyes as his hands wrapped around the younger boy’s body, innocently being placed at his back. With a small smirk, Derek licked Joshua's lips gently, wanting to ‘further’ the kiss, if only just this once.
Joshua pulled his lips from his, yet kept his eyes closed, nuzzling Derek's neck with his nose and mouth. Suddenly, small tears started flowing down Joshua's cheeks. He had never really felt like his love was accepted by anyone until now. Other than his god father, no one wanted his love or to return it back.
Derek was a bit worried as he felt tears on his shoulder. Was he crying? Did he do something? Derek tried to pull back, not wanting the other to get even more hurt. "Are you alright? I'm sorry, did I do something?"
Joshua just stood there, smiling and letting his tears run freely down his cheeks. "I'm more than alright...I've never felt this...this..." he was trying to think of the right word to use, not realizing that snowy-white feathered wings were growing from his back and his hair was turning white.
Derek looked at Joshua in shock as the white feathery wings sprouted out of Joshua's back. "No way...A...An angel?" He questioned, still in shock.
"Huh?" Joshua asked, not understanding. He looked down and saw that his shadow had two large wings coming out of it. "Oh...crap...Derek...it’s… not what it looks like....I..." He struggled to find the right words.
Meanwhile Amber was sitting by herself in the cafeteria humming.
Derek stumbled back till he hit something solid. When he did hit something solid he slid down. "An angel...I've found you..." He couldn't believe it...he was actually hanging out with an angel...
Joshua lunged toward him as he fell, offering him a hand up, ignoring the onlookers that were gathering. "Derek? Are you alright?"
Derek shook his head. "Why...Why did you have to be an angel...?” He whispered gently while looking down.
"I...I didn't choose to be. It's my curse. I'm no different then the Joshua you saw two minutes ago. I'm the same person. Why's it so bad?" He sat down next to him, regretting ever having been an angel.
"I...I've been sent to kill you...I've been sent to kill those you've been cursed by the angels and therefore are able to become angel warriors..." Derek murmured, still looking down.
Joshua stared at him mortified. Tears started streaming down his cheeks. He knelt in front of Derek, lifting his chin. "But...But Derek..." he said, his voice choked up from his tears, "I....I...I love you..."
Derek looked to the side. "If you kill enough of the opposite side you get the curse removed from yourself. In my case if I kill enough angels my demon curse will lift and I won't become a demon warrior for hell...But then I met you...I thought you weren't an angel but...the feathers...your pureness..." He stopped, unable to finish.
"Your...your a demon?!" he asked, shocked and still crying. "I don't care. I don't care." He shook his head back and forth. "I could care less about our races. I care about me and you." He cried, burying his face in Derek's lap.
Derek continued to look to the side. 'Stay calm...Stay calm.' He murmured to himself. If he let too much emotion through...his demon side could come through and take over... That wouldn't be very good. His demon side was very dangerous and dominant... but this boy on him was making him want to say something that could break that dangerous barrier...
Joshua whimpered slightly, having been so happy he was crying earlier and now everything being taken back away from him. He had found someone who accepted his love and he thought returned it back. Now it was being taken from something neither of them controlled.
"Joshua...Listen...I know how your wings come up. With too much emotion or if you're too aroused, yours appear, right?" He asked, head still turned.
Joshua sat up, his face red and wet and a spot left on Derek's pants from where he had cried. "Yeah..." His eyes were puffy and his nose became a bit runny as he sat up.
"Mine come out at any emotion... Even if it's the slightest....any affection will bring *him* out...and that could be dangerous for you..." He explained calmly.
Joshua wiped his eyes. "Then...maybe I should just...leave...because I'm crying over you like a big baby...like I was over Amber when you first met me..."
Derek winced as he felt his back hurting in pain. "Ah...Don't leave...Just...stay..." He whispered, grabbing his shoulder in pain as he tried to keep his emotions in check.
Joshua stared at his shoulder. "Are you alright? Are you in pain? I'll get you to a hospital..." Joshua took Derek's arm and put it over his shoulder, slowly standing.
Derek pushed away from Joshua as he leaned back against the wall, he couldn't...he didn't want to hurt him...'Calm down...Think blank...Blank...' He thought.
Joshua looked at Derek, his head cocked to the side. "You need to go to the hospital, Derek! You’re hurt!"
Derek closed his eyes. "Shut up..." He shook his head. "No..."
Joshua stepped back, hurt by his words. "I'm only doing this because I care about you, Derek..." he murmured softly.
Derek grabbed his head, his back feeling like he was splitting apart. "Shut UP!" He yelled again, only louder. The voice in his head was getting louder...
"Derek...what's wrong...?" Joshua, touched his arm lightly, trying to help him.
Amber grew hungry and slowly started eating her own now extremely cold food.
Derek silently yelled as he collapsed to the floor still holding his head in pain; huge black wings spreading out from his back. Raven black feathers fell from his wings as they spread out for the first time in ages.
