A Memorable Day Off

Disclamer: I have become extremely clingy to this story. Also, forgive me if there isn't any hot passionate lovin' in here. ^_^
Reviews make my day (:
------------

I awake suddenly, smiling deeply to myself because of my dream. It was of a wedding, the one I'd been dreaming of since Evan and I got serious. I sighed and closed my eyes, careful not to move and stir the aforementioned amazing man from his sleep. His chest rose and fell normally with his breathing, much unlike how it was when we fell asleep.

I open my eyes once more and look at our room, scattered not only with our clothes but with pictures of us, our families, and our friends. I dearly want to spend the rest of my life with this man, but I don't know how to tell him. I'm not even sure if I can tell him, either. Closing my eyes again I feel a strong and protecting arm come around my shoulders. Evan brings me up to his face, and kisses me gently despite any morning breath problems the both of us might have.

"Good morning, my lovely."

"The same to you, my dear." I peck him on the cheek and presume lying on his chest as he gently strokes my back. I glance at the clock and realize it's almost time for work, so I roll off Evan and sit up.

"Ugh, work. I don't want to gooooo today, Evan."

"Then don't. I'll call you in sick, even."

"You know I can't do that..besides, what would I do?"

"Well I uh...I kinda wanted to take you somewhere."

I ponder what he said for a minute. The look on his face spoke voulmes, as did the tone of his voice. I tell him he can call me in if he wants, and snuggle back under the covers. He kisses me passionately and tells me to put some nice clothes on, and he would get ready after he called me in.

I raise my eyebrows at him but adhere to what he says. By the time I'm all cleaned up and dressed he's in the bedroom, finding an outfit. I giggle at him, since many of his outfits are either casual or such, and he always looks extremely nice in them.

"Here, baby. I like this shirt a lot." I hand him a white dress shirt with black stripes on it, one of my favorites.

"Ahh. Good choice. Thank you, darling." He kisses me for the umpteenth time today, and heads to the bathroom. I go downstairs to the kitchen and sit, waiting patiently for him. He comes down, rolling his sleeves up and grabbing the car keys. He blindfolds me as we get into the car, and on the way to wherever we're going he holds my hand.

When the car stops, I can hear Evan fumbling around in the trunk of the car before opening my door and helping me out. He guides me a semi-short distance and helps me sit down on the ground, before telling me that I could take my blindfold off.

I opened my eyes, and after letting them adjust to the brightness, I see that he's taken me to one of the most beautiful parks in this part of town. My jaw drops somewhat, then as I turn to see what he had set up my jaw drops even more.

A cute little brunch, consisting of non-messy finger foods, sat in front of me on one of our blankets bought especially for outdoor occasions. I smile widely and kiss him, amazed at how wonderfully sweet he can be to me. We eat and talk about a whole lot of nothing for a while, then he reaches behind him. Scooting next to me, he places his arm around my waist.

"Sloane...we've been together for some time now. We've been through a lot too. I'm not the biggest speech giver, you know, and I'm trying so damned hard not to stutter right now. It's just...I love you, Sloane. More than you will imagine, more than even I myself can fathom. This is for you."

He hands me a single lily, which is my favorite flower. I look at him oddly, but with extreme admiration and love for what he's just said, and then I look at the lily again.

Directly in the middle, placed with delicate and precise effort, was a silver ring with a single heart-shaped diamond on it.

I drop the flower in surprise, but somehow manage to catch the ring. Shaking, I look at Evan with tears in my eyes. This was a dream, it had to be. But then he kisses me with such an overwhelming amount of love that I know it has to be real. After he pulls away I look him in the eye, pleading for him to ask what I want him to ask.

"Sloane...will you be mine for the rest of our lives? Will you marry me?"

I throw myself around him, tears streaming down my face, and I put the ring on my finger.

"Oh my God, Evan. Yes. Yes yes yes, a thousand times yes! Oh, I love you."

"I love you too."

That night, as the sun was setting, he loved me like I'd never been loved before.

He showed me that true love existed in a world full of pain and despair.
