Chapter 3
After that night, the man kept coming back. Every time, asking ‘Precious’ to dance for him. Nick was strangely intrigued by him. Nick did his own research when he was on breaks. Just watching and taking note of the club’s patrons. The club received a variety of men; business types, salesmen, country men, all types. Yet, there was one group that even Nick had heard about. By now, Nick knew what the man did or really where he belonged, but not his name.
The group in question reminded him of that Will and Grace episode. The one where Jack was terrified that he was being stalked by the gay mob. The first time Nick heard, he nearly laughed himself stupid. But as time went on and he learned more, he sobered up and gave them their respect.
They were just a handful of guys. Hardcore tough- -thug types to be honest. They had a strange place on the connected totem pole. Autonomous in their own right. The kings of their part of town. Scary enough to keep anyone from coming to their turf. The stories that Nick heard had now transcended urban legend status and were solidly entrenched as fact. Things so horrific that the other families and gangs thought twice about messing with a gang of fags.
Once again, Nick was dancing for him. The man was no closer than before. Nick swayed, turned, and twisted before the man. His hands sliding over his own glistening skin. Nick lifted his hands over his head, swaying still as the music began to fade into nothing.
Nick began to turn away when he felt a strong arm grip him, firmly and steady. “Go to dinner with me.”
Nick just looked down at the arm. Confused. Surprised. He wanted to say yes, but something inside told him to say no. Just say no.
He looked into the other’s face for the first time, truly seeing him. He was handsome, but far older than Nick. He was possibly in his mid to later thirties. The age should have been a turnoff, but Nick found himself once again mesmerized by those deep soulful eyes.
“Sorry, but no.” Nick said.
The man chuckled and smiled at Nick. Smiled a genuine bright, full of teeth grin. “That’s good. My name’s Vinny Constantine.”
The name did not stir any recognition in Nick. His features still remained slack, curious mostly and passive. Vinny just watched him. His smile growing bigger.
Nick took back his arm. “I’m…Nick.” His voice was quiet. Nick felt a little shaken by them actually meeting and not just keeping up the pretense of entertainment.
Vinny stood. His suit was casual, no tie and laid back. His style and the quality of his suit reflected having money. Standing Vinny was larger than Nick in every proportion. Taller, older, thick and bulky. “I know that, Nicky. I enjoyed the dance.” Vinny moved past Nick. His large hand stopped above the door handle. His gaze turned to take in Nick’s full barely clad form. The smile on his lips hadn’t dimmed. “I’ll see you next week.”
* * *
Nick picked up a routine as the next two weeks went by. He’d finish his last dance on the main stage. The days of going home as soon as he finished were a thing of the past. Leo or one of the other guys always informed him that he was need in room seven.
Vinny was always waiting for him. Today was no exception.
“You made me wait.” His deep voice came out surprisingly as a purr.
Nick stopped his dancing. His hands fell to rest on the tops of his white shorts. Sliver bands outlined the edges and caught the light. “Yeah?” Nick’s voice full of attitude.
He moved in again. This time testing Vinny’s patience as he climbed on his lap. Gyrating and rocking to the music. Vinny’s aftershave tingled Nick’s nose. Vinny turned to face Nick, his breath tickled the long column of neck in front of him. “I like that. You’re smart--too classy for this place. You made me proud by making me wait.”
Nick climbed off his lap. “I don’t know you.”
Nick looked down at the large warm hand that wrapped itself around his. “But, you could get to know me.”
Vinny leaned forward, not releasing Nick as he moved closer. “Go to dinner with me…Please.”
His tone was sweet, endearing, not desperate but completely confident. His eyes shined with a light that made them look deep and never-ending. Nick tried to pull back, because something inside told him he should. But, he’d listened to that voice once before and nothing had come of it.
“Yes.”
Vinny chuckled to himself. He brought Nick forward. His long fingers sliding down to the slip beneath Nick’s fingers. The younger man just watched quietly, breath held tight within his chest, as his hands were raised to the grinning set before him. The kiss was soft, barely a touch on the skin, but it managed to touch Nick a way no other man had ever done.
Vinny stood. His smile gone, replaced by a smirk as he memorized more details of Nick. From his curve of his ass, the sensuous bow of his pink lips, to what shock looked like on his gorgeous features.
“Tomorrow at Ambrosio’s. I’ll meet you at 8.”
Nick just nodded.
Light caught on his white teeth. They gleamed in the semi-dark. Looking almost predatory in Nick’s sight. “I’ll be waiting, Precious.” And like that Nick was caressed by words.
