“Have you seen that Captain who arrived earlier today?” Jean was finishing her fourth bed. “God, he was so gorgeous!” Charlie laughed and threw a pillow at her. “You’re in love, you are!” she said catching the pillow as Jean threw it back at her. “Well, you can’t blame me! He really is gorgeous! Don’t you agree Alexis?” I looked at her for a moment. “Don’t you pull me down with you! I did not say anything,” I said smiling. “Just keep me out of it.” We still had about thirty beds to go, and it looked like it was going to be a while until we were finished. Jean seriously wouldn’t stop talking about Tengel.

“Oh, that’s right! You got George, don’t you?” Charlie said with a twinkle in her eye. I could feel myself blush “What are you talking about? And why would you think that I like George?” I said, pretending to be insulted. Jean grinned broadly. “I have seen the look on your face every time someone just mentions his name,” she said, placing her hands on her hips. “Don’t even try to deny it! Anyway, we all know he spent the entire night in your chambers last night. How do you explain that?” How did they know that? This meant trouble. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

When we finished up the beds, they still hadn’t given up the thing about George. So I had planed to run off, but that plan was no good. I understood that once I saw George standing on the grounds talking to Tengel. “Oh, dear! Both our men,” Jean whispered as we entered the grounds. “Will you stop that?” I hissed. This was starting to look like some school girl crush. George looked up and met my eyes. He smiled like he knew what we where talking about. “You know, Alexis, I’m starting to believe he fancies you too,” Charlie said grinning. “I am not in love with that man,” I whispered desperately as George came walking towards us. “And for God’s sake, shut up about it!” He gave a quick bow and kissed my hand. His intense eyes never left mine as he did this. I felt my cheeks getting warm. “No, of course you’re not,” Charlie said smiling as she and Jean left the two of us alone.

“I got your message,” he said in a low voice. “I honestly didn’t think you wanted me to come.” I didn’t know what to say. This was starting to get difficult. Was I really in love with him? And if I was, should I let him know? “Well, I suppose I liked having you around last night,” I mumbled, avoiding his eyes. “May I kiss you?” he said smiling. I felt my body go stiff and numb. I was not used to that kind of things. “I… I’m…” I mumbled, standing with my back against the wall. He didn’t wait for my answer, he just kissed me. And to my despair, I started moaning. He broke the kiss and looked at me with passionate eyes. “If you continue doing that; I won’t be able to control my self much longer,” he said with a deep voice. “I’m sorry,” I whispered.
