Untitled Part 3

I looked at Nick and smiled. “Maybe that’s our little friend?” I asked raising my eyebrows slightly. I kissed his cheek as I stood up. Since I was still naked, I stayed behind the door as I opened it slowly. Peeking around the side I saw Kevin, Nick’s friend and fellow band member. The same brown hair, brown eyes, 6’3” tall, drop dead gorgeous Kevin I’ve had a crush on for over three years now.

“Hel...” he started before I slammed the door and put my back to it with wide eyes.

“Who was that?” Nick demanded, leaning over the couch and peeking out the window.

“Ke-Kevin,” I managed to say.

“Oh gesh Lara!” Nick pulled on his pants and moved over to open the door. “Get over it!” Nick is one of the few who know about my obsession with Kevin.

“I’m not here,” I told Nick, running up the stairs. I could feel my face turning bright pink as I closed my bedroom door. “God, I’m such a dork!” I scolded myself. I threw some sweats on, wrapped a towel around my head and slowly made my way downstairs.

I found Nick with his shirt back on, and Kevin sitting on stools talking when I walked into the kitchen. They both turned to look at me as I entered. I gave them an embarrassed smile and distracted myself by looking through the fridge, pretending to get myself a snack. I was forced to end my search short due to the severe lack of food I apparently owned. I made a mental note to myself to buy more food.

“Guess why Kevin’s here, Lara,” Nick said with an I-know-something look on his face.

“I give up, Nick. Why is Kevin here?” I gave him a death glare and poured myself some milk.

“Kevin was visiting his girlfriend,” I cringed, “when he saw my car here and decided to stop by and say hi before he left. His girlfriend happens to be your new next door neighbor.”

Hearing this, I nearly spit my milk out. I looked at Nick, then to Kevin, and back to Nick.

“Uh, yeah,” Kevin said, obviously not understanding what was going on. I grabbed some paper towels and started cleaning up imaginary messes as Kevin explained. “Her name’s Karen and she’s not my girlfriend. We’ve gone out only a few times.”

I sighed in relief.

“I didn’t interrupt anything, did I?” Kevin asked, skeptically.

Nick spoke before I could, saying, “No, we were only fucking.” Kevin’s eyes grew wide and I nearly threw up.

“Nick!” I gave him my death stare again before I put my head in my hands.

“What?” he asked, playing innocent. “I won’t lie to Kevin, he’s my best friend.”

I rolled my eyes from where I was. I could feel my entire face flush a crimson red. “I’m not listening to this,” I said standing up and leaving the room. I threw myself down upon my bed as soon as I entered my room upstairs. Away from Nick’s stories. It’s not like I was ashamed to let people know Nick and I fuck, and I knew Kevin would have already heard the stories, but actually hearing him tell Kevin was too weird. And Nick knew I liked Kevin. That bitch.

I climbed under the covers and sighed, knowing fully that I’d have no control over Nick. And no chance with Kevin.
