It took so long to get used to the idea of magic. We were all still doubtful about everything, but we loved doing magic so much that we couldn't refuse. It was an addiction.
They taught us the easy spells first, like moving things without touching them, making things disappear or reappear. It was gread
They were also teaching us matial arts. So far I think I've beaten the shit out of Renea and Jordan about ten to fifteen times each. It's still hard to beat anyone else because they know how to encorporate their magic into the fight. Vile keeps saying tsoon we will start learning how to do that too. He just says he doesn't want to have the shit kicked out of him by a girl yet.
We all still wondered when we were going to remember things from our past lives or when we would meet up with the 'bad' guys.
"So what are we going to practice this time?" I asked Vile as we all sat on the couch in the hideout.
"Well I think that since you have you basic magic learned already," Vile began, "I think we should start teaching you how to fight with magic. Magic can't be used for every aspect of fighting, but we can teach you how some of it comes in handy for hand to hand."
Vile got up and walked to the bathroom through one of the passageways. He came back with two bottles of what looked like shampoo. "Hey Lochness, show the girls what this shampoo does once they wash their hair with it."
Lochness stood up and pushed her waist-long, wavy, dirty blonde hair behind her back. She stood up straight and brought her shoulders back.
Lochness' hair started to move as if it were blowing in the wind, it soon rose off her back and shot forward. Peices of hair wound around everything it could grab: Candles, boxes, jars, it grasped them tightly and lifted them off of the shelves or tables they were sitting on.
"Isn't that kickass? This is why I keep my hair so long." Lochness smiled and turned around as the peices of her hair that held something replaced everything in different spots than they originally were. "If I couldn't do this, I would have cut my hair a long time ago."
"That is awesome!" Renea exclaimed, "Give me that shampoo, I'll use it tonight!"
"Well, once you use it, we have to teach you guys how to fight with magic." Vile tossed a bottle to me and Renea, "Sorry Jordan, the potion is only effective for girls."
"Yeah, I don't think my hair is quite long enough, anyway." Jordan chuckled.
++++++++++++++++
That night, Jordan, Renea, and I were at my house studying and goofing around when Renea said, "I'm having so much fun with this magic thing, I just have to learn how to control my hair. I'm so glad you introduced us to Vile, Jennifer," just then, a few pieces of her shoulder length, brown hair stood straight up, "I mean, Spark." She laughed and smoothed her hair back down.
"At least yours is doing something, mine is just a lot of friz." My usual long, black, tight curly hair was just a big fluff ball pulled back into a couple of rubber bands so that it wouldn't get in my way.
"Well, you usually take such good care of it. I think it's mad at you." She glanced at my fluff ball and giggled.
"So, when are we gonna meet this guy," Jordan said, "The one that betrayed your kingdom?"
"I don't know, we just have to wait, I guess." I sat deep in thought, "Have you guys remembered anything from your past lives?"
"No," they said together.
"Well, I keep having these dreams," I started again, "where I'm standing in a throne room, in front of what seems to be my throne, you two are both off to one side on one knee as if bowing. Vile is standing off to the other side and we are all watching a man storm out of the room and slam the door."
"That's one hell of a dream," Jordan said, "Maybe it is a memory." He stood up and kissed my forehead. "Me and Renea need to go now, it's almost ten o'clock." He picked up his stuff and motioned for Renea to follow.
"I'll be there in a minute," Renea replied to the motion, as Jordan walked out the door, "Do you still like him that way?" she said when Jordan was gone.
"I do, but I don't," I started carefully "I just have this feeling that we aren't supposed to be together." I sighed.
"I thought so," Renea smiled, "I think you need to tell him." She got up and left.
That statement left a dirty taste in my mouth that I couldn't get rid of until I went to sleep. I felt bad.
++++++++++++++++
The next day, when I was doing my homework, I heard the doorbell ring, "Can you get that, mom?!" I yelled.
I worked on my chemistry as my mom answered the door, "Hon, it's for you! It's Brian!" she yelled back at me.
I jumped up and ran to the door when I realized she meant Vile.
"Hey," I said, smiling, "why are you here?"
He smiled at me as his eyes stared into mine, "Are you not glad to see me?" he asked. "Judging by your smile, I think you are."
"Come in," I said and invited him into the kitchen, "Do you want something to drink?" I offered him a soda.
"No, thanks," he said, brushing the idea out of his mind, "I just wanted to ask you if you have started to remember anything. Any flashbacks or dreams or anything? You have been a little distant lately and I was just wondering if that might be why."
"Well there is this dream I keep having," I thought about Jordan for a while before continuing, "Is there any chance that I could start having memories of emotion? Because, these dreams are really vivid. I feel hate, love, friendship, and loyalty all at the same time and it seems to link to the people in my life now."
"Well, yes. When I started to remember, I felt hate for the man who betrayed you; if that counts." Vile said.
"Of course it counts! Now atleast I know I am not going crazy." I felt so relieved about Jordan. I was so light when I couldn't feel that guilt anymore.
"Oh, yeah, we think that you may meet the man that betrayed you soon."
"Really? So then I might remember more?" I said excitedly.
Vile laughed lightly, "You are adorable, you know that?"
"Thank you," I nodded, "You know these emotions that I'm remembering? Well, they are for you."
Vile looked at me, surprised. He looked down at his feet, "Spark, my feeling for you are stronger than you will ever know. I hoped, maybe, you felt a little what I was feeling." He leaned in close to me and almost kissed me, but stopped so close I could feel his breath, "What about Jordan?" he asked.
"I'll talk to him. Somehow I don't think we should be together anyway." I said and leaned in the rest of the way to kiss him.
Vile broke the kiss and looked into my eyes. I looked away, down at my feet, but he pushed my chin up and rubbed my cheek with his thumb.
"Spark, my feelings for you are no less than love." He pushed my hair out of my face, "I've loved you for a long time now."
I fell into his arms and he held me for what I wished was forever. Everything was so perfect about that moment and I never wanted it to end.
++++++++++++++++
The next few days were emotionally hectic for me. I had to deal with the remaining guilt about Jordan. I had to figure out what to say to him and when to say it. It seemed I was just putting it off for longer and longer, and, in the meantime, I had to hide my feeling for Vile.
I told Renea everything. She was really hassling me to get rid of Jordan to be with Vile. I supposed that she had a little bit of a crush on Jordan.
"Jordan, I have to talk to you about something." I said, when we were finally alone.
He smiled and came over to me, "OK, what is it?"
I took a deep breath and shook off my nervousness. 'it has to be done' I thought to myself.
"Jordan," I started, "I don't think we should be together anymore."
He stood there for a while shocked at what I said. "It's ok," he smiled, "I'll still love you, even if you have feelings for Vile."
"You knew?" I asked, stunned.
"Well, it's not too hard to notice. When Vile is around, you seem not to notice anything else. I see your eyes when you look at him, it's obvious."
"Then you understand?" I asked relieved, "I thought I was going to have to explain."
"Yes, I understand, after all, while you have been noticing Vile, I have been noticing Renea." He smirked, "I keep having these strange flashbacks; I'm holding Renea while she's crying over something. I think she's crying over you."
"That's strange…" I said, "Well, I think you should go for her!"
"Of course I should. I talked to her about it and she said she was feeling the same way I do. She's been begging me to break it off with you."
I laughed, "Haha, yeah, she's been doing the same thing to me."
