Night Sounds

Silk… gliding over my face, my arms. The most wonderful sensation in the darkness. A small sigh escaped me at this wonderfully simple sensation. It whispered against me, in tune with my body’s rhythms.

But it wasn’t the silk that I was hearing, a soft voice whispered to me; in fact it was calling my name. Alexia, darling wake up. Silken fingers brushing through my hair and then I was being lifted, strong arms around me and something being pressed against my lips. A glass, filled with a warm liquid that slid down my throat and set my senses on fire.

A whisper in my mind. Open your eyes. My world flooded in sudden color, a shimmering gold. The chandelier above me shown bright as the sun. A face moved into view, blue eyes filled with worry.

Sebastian cradled me in his arms, my hands dug into the thick carpet and I knew we were still in his room. Staring up into his face full knowledge of the last few hours crashed down around me.

I bolted upright, knocking the glass of blood from his hand. A small scream rose in my throat. With incredible speed I was on my feet running towards the balcony. Moving faster than I could think I launched myself over the railing, landing two stories down painlessly.

I had only made it a few steps when I heard him hit the ground behind me, a second later his full weight pushed me to the ground. I struggled as hard as I could but his grip was like iron, unyielding and just as cold. I was caught; I could barely move… pressing my forehead into the soft grass I screamed in frustration. He lowered his face next to mine; softly calling my name until finally, I stopped screaming.
It was as if I were broken and I would never feel anything again. Keeping a firm grip Sebastian rolled my body to face him. As expressionless as a rag doll, I lay there in his arms, hollow eyes staring but not truly seeing.
