Burning Dilemma

A/N: Well here's chapter II. Sorry it's a little short, but I knew it was oging to be. I didn't need it to be long, but I'm trying to make the others longer. From here on the story will only intensify and the REAL plot will emerge.

I'd like to thank Anon, who seems to be my dedicated reviewer. You guys could learn from Anon and review my stuff if you REALLY like it! I'd like to thank TheSoulmater and blackpanther16 as well!

Anon: When she DOES find out who Luther really is, she's going to be one blown little girl!

~Chapter II: Burning Dilemma~

In the middle of a dimly lit room, the King reclined on a huge, satin pillow on a large bed, a beautiful dark-haired woman in her mid-twenties, wearing a revealing pink kimono, was massaging his temples with her dainty hands.

“You look stressed, Luther.” The woman asked worriedly. “I’ve never seen you like this before, not since the war on Nexus.”

“It’s these humans, Futaba. They are driving me insane.”

“Really, Luther, why are you letting these humans get to you. You should have done away with that old woman.”

Luther shifted his head into Futaba’s lap and brought her hands to his shoulders, indicating her to start massaging them. He opened his closed eyes slightly to watch the hazy image of the woman above him.

“I couldn’t do that---not while she was there.” He replied.

"You mean the girl-child, Caecelija. The one you’re fascinated with?” Futaba asked. “I’ve never seen you so taken with a woman before, much less a child.”

Luther closed his eyes again and began to think.

“Futaba," he began, "what drives a thirty-two-year-old man to choose a thirteen-year-old-girl with no parents, money, or anything else except the clothes on her back, over a twenty-seven-year-old woman with a title and a large dowry?”

“So you really aren’t planning on marrying Princess Adelaide?”

“That was never my intention, Futaba. I just came here to entertain that notion---humans are amusing to me.”

“I knew it,” Futaba smirked. “I couldn’t stand that woman. I think I would’ve left the court if you had made her queen.”

Luther gave Futaba his own smile. “I think I would’ve left court if I made her queen.”

Futaba began playing with the King’s beautiful, golden strands of hair, twisting the thick locks with her fingers, trying to create curls.

“I love your hair…” she said dreamily.

“You have been telling me that everyday for the past fifteen years, Futaba. And you still have not answered my question.” Luther heaved. Sometimes the woman could be so childish!

“Oh, alright!” the woman pouted. “Don’t get so upset because you’re in love and you don’t understand why!”

“What?” Luther said at once.

“I said that you were in love, your highness,” Futaba smiled.

Love? Luther thought. Was he in love with Caecelija Vance? It just couldn’t be! She was just a child, a baby! Then why did he keep going back to her every chance he got? Why did he constantly buy her expensive presents? Why did her happiness mean so much to him?

Perhaps I’m just trying to be a father figure. He thought.

No. That didn’t seem right either. If he wanted to be a father figure, then why was he so obsessed with her like this? Luther wanted Caecelija not as a daughter; he was on an entirely different emotional level than that. He knew he wanted her sexually, too….

“I’m in love?” he asked, confusedly, very unlike his normal imperious and omniscient demeanor. “Are you sure this is not lust, Futaba?”

She caressed his face and said, “If it were lust, your highness, you would’ve taken her to your bed long ago. You are not the one to keep a female for an extended period of time.”

That was true. Luther normally went through three women a week.

“Also,” Futaba continued, “you would not have gone through the trouble of buying her all those lavish gifts, showering her with undying affection, and keeping her out of harm’s way from those nasty children and horrid caretakers.”

“I even told that old human woman in the book store that I was planning on marrying Caecelija,” Luther confessed.

“Did you?” Futaba asked. “Well, there must obviously be something special about this little girl, Luther. You really can’t stand humans, now that I think about it, but you are doting over this little human child.”

“I want her, Futaba,” Luther said. “I have never desired anything so greatly. I want this human child more than anything.”

Futaba leaned over Luther, whispering in his ear, “Then take her, Luther. Take her and let’s go home! We’ve been on this planet for three months while you’ve been pretending to make marriage arrangements with a woman we both know you do not want! I’m beginning to feel sorry for poor Lachlan, having to be your doppelganger for the past two months!”

“How is Lachlan?” Luther interrupted.

“He is fine, Luther, but I doubt he is happy that he has to charade in Neo-England as you! I think he despises that Princess Adelaide woman more than you do! The English representatives have been setting up those two together everyday and it’s killing him!” Futaba fumed. “And don’t you avoid my question, now! I said take the girl and let’s leave!”

“I cannot simply just take her!” Luther interjected, getting off the bed to glare at the scantily-clad woman. “Caecelija has a great dislike toward me! She despises anything that has to do with the Tyrant from Ariadne!”

“Did you expect that she never find out who you are?” Futaba looked amused.

“No, of course not! However….” Luther trailed off.

“Luther, there is no good way you can “break the news” to her for her reaction will be the same. Just take her! She will get used to it, Luther! She’s only a child! I don’t care how precocious she is; she still has the mind of a little girl and adults can easily manipulate them! It is not the most tasteful method considering you’re in love with her, but bend her mind to your will. Make it so that she’ll have no choice but to love you!”

Luther pondered Futaba’s words for a moment before saying, “Futaba, I have an idea.”

“Tell me,” Futaba said, standing up.

“Futaba…I want you to burn down the orphanage where Caecelija lives.”

“Burn it down?” Futaba looked amazed then smirked evilly. “Yes! This is the Luther that I know and love!”

“Burn it down, but make it look like an accident,” He continued. “But first,” he raised a finger, “I want you get all of her things. Can’t have my Ceci’s precious things destroyed, now.”

“What of the other children there?” Futaba asked. “And the caretakers?”

“Kill them…” Luther said simply. “I don’t care how you do it, but I want every last soul in that building destroyed before you burn it to the ground.”

“And what of the girl-child?”

“I will take care of that. She will not be there when you take of it.”

“When will I do it?”

“In three days---Thursday evening. I’ll keep Caecelija occupied while you take care of everything.”

“And the purpose of this is what, Luther?” Futaba questioned.

“Simply to make sure she has no options once she discovers my identity.” Luther’s lips curled into an evil smile.

“Luther, you’re so evil!” Futaba wrapped her arms around the King’s torso.

“I can’t have you touching me like this anymore,” Luther said stroking the woman’s hair as if she were his pet. “My Ceci will become envious.”

“Oh, Luther,” Futaba giggled, “You are like an older brother to me! And besides, you know I like women….”
