Wrinkling her nose in disgust at the ham and cheese sandwich before her, Elita put it aside and dug into her bag, hoping to find some sort of proper nourrishment, as her fingers enclosed around a chocolate candy bar, her nose was filled with the delicate scent of crushed roses. A shadow fell over the tarmac, she ate here since she was long since shunned from the cool grass and metal tables. Without a word the shadow dropped beside her, and the smell enveloped her. Sneaking a look at him she smothered a giggle as she saw how very unlike William Blake he was, his face was pinched and pale, his nose thin and rasor sharp. His frame not weak or fragile, but graceful and lithe, his eyes were a deep translucent charcoal grey, and were staring intently at her. It was his mouth Elita decided that was the most beautiful part of him, it was full, and stood out against his pale pallor, an unnatural crimson red.

The average person would have felt very unnerved and uncomfortable underneath his close scrutiny.

Elita thought it was fascinating.

She wondered what he was seeing, she hadn\'t washed that morning because she had simply forgotten so he most likely smelt sweat and dog breath, maybe he was looking at her simple ankle length black dress, it wasn\'t very practical for running or biking, but her Aunt wouldn\'t let her wear anything else. Taking out the melting chocolate bar, she unwrapped it and offered him a piece. He looked at the melted brown mess and looked at her again. Shrugging she picked it and placed it all in her mouth and with one vicious bite she swallowed it, grinning sheepishly she turned her body so it faced his.

He was still staring at her.

She decided she would stare at him.

Her large eyes shining with mirth, she looked into his assesing pools. She noticed that his hair was quite long for a boy, it was shoulder length and a soft muted black it rested against his shoulders and stopped at the top of his spinal cord. She looked at his eyes again and grinned, he was still looking at her, was she really that intriguing?

She certainly hoped she was. She was about to reach out and touch his nose to see if her fingers would slice off, when she heard hushed whisperings and snickerings, and tucked her hand in closely to her body.

\"Evan!\"

Evan Blake? Elita shook her hair attempting to cover the smile spreading across her face. Evan\'s eyes never leaving her.

\"EVAN!\"

He turned around slowly to look at Marietta, she was gazing down at him, a predatory glaze sheening her deep blue eyes, flanked by two cloned barbie dolls. Marietta reached a hand towards him in greeting, he merely glanced at the hand with a dismissive nod. Evan looked at her with his clear eyes, his hands curling into loose fists by his side, his left foot touching the forgotten ham and cheese sandwich, his right tucked in towards his body. Elita was still facing towards him but had tucked her legs up to her chest, and rested her chin against her knees.-

\"Welcome to our school! My name is Marietta Potts.\" she beamed at him, flashing him a white smile before looking at either side of her, \"oh yes, and these two are my best friends!\" she latched onto the girl on her right, while letting her pearly whites show.

The girl on the left looked at Marietta and giggled, \"My name is Brenda Fitzgerald!\" her auburn hair glinting in the sun, the other girl whom Marietta had detatched herself from twirled a piece of her dyed black hair and in a giggle much like Brenda\'s replied, \"Mine is, Charlotte Dyson!\"

Oblivious, to the three girls glaring at her, Elita continued staring at Evan and imagining what he would have seen on her skirt. \"Elita, don\'t you have a murder to plan?\" sneered Marietta, tossing her curls behind her back with contempt. Surprised, Elita looked at Marietta with wide eyes, she looked at Evan and saw his penetrating gaze, she shyly broke into an apologetic smile, and opened her mouth as she saw his eyes darken and light with surpressed rage.

His furious gaze remained pressed on Elita as Marietta continued, \"Don\'t worry about her Evan, she\'s crazy....\"

Brenda and Charlotte broke into another fit of giggles. Instantly Evan spun around with such speed that Elita gasped, she noticed the odd gleam in his eyes from her profile view of his body, and held her breath a strange tingle tickling her ribs.

She saw for an instant a flicker of a smile on Evan\'s face and he reached in to his pocket and withdrew a plain cream hankerchief. Brenda and Charlotte stopped and stared at him in wonder, Marietta inched closer to Evan.

Elita for a moment wondered if he would have seen a rabbit.

With a grace that no ordaniary human posessed he waved the piece of silk around the air like a ribbon and with a flourish shook it so a bouquet of long stemmed bruised roses poured out of the fabric, the smell intensified. As each girl, not including Elita reached out to pick one up with amazement and awe, Marietta quickly blocked them off and made to swoop them all up for herself.

\"Ouch!\" she cried, and dropped the flowers. Hearing the sharp intake of breath from both of her friends she looked down at her arms and shrieked. Her arms and palms were covered in angry purple scratches, that gave off the faint odor of the flowers that had caused them. With a cry she started scratching furiously at them, her eyes glazed over. Tears welled up in her eyes, and Brenda slowly inched her way to her, trying to stop her. When she made contact with the abbraised skin, Marietta pushed her away and ran off sobbing, nails still digging deep into the now bleeding limbs.

\"Marietta!\" both Brenda and Charlotte called, running after her.

Elita gazed at the fallen bouquet, and glanced to her side to find that Evan had gone. Sighing she bent down to pick a particularly battered rose, but the thorns did not pierce her skin or cause any desire to scratch. She held the stem, stroking at the stem in a downwards motion, the faint stings and prickles and slight fuzz were all that met her pale fingers. Holding the rose gently to her torso she stood up and, hidden from the student body, spun around wildly, and laughed like a little school girl.

A magician.

Evan Blake was a magician!

Her body shook with laughter and she let a delighted cry issue from her throat as she stumbled and landed in the perfect roses. She ran towards the corner of the building hoping to find him, so that she could....

Hug him?

Shaking her head she smiled and turned back to her spot on the ground and let out a startled gasp, the roses were gone. The bell rang signalling recess was over, wandering into class Elita wondered if Evan would write anything else onto her back.

Evan didn\'t attend any of the other classes that afternoon.

\"Did you hear,\" whispered Charlotte to a nearby student, \"Marietta was sent to the hospital!\"

Elita laughed.
