Darkness

CHAPTER THREE

Gasping awake, I clutched my sheets about my chest. It was just a dream. My eye\'s crossed around my bedroom. Relief dwelled over me until I caught a glimpse of silver, when my eyes laid upon it\'s sparkle it began to move.

Jumping closer to my headboard a scream emerged from my lips, the object and its owner jumped on my bed and began to move closer. Squeezing my eyes shut I sat motionless, when the slight tickle of a dainty tongue caressed the skin of my arm.

My eyes darted open, and I jumped away from the sudden sensation. The monster was now rummaging its way out of my comforter. Frozen in fear I watched on in silence.

A head appeared

I fell on my bottom, it was just a cat; just a small kitten.

The door then opened, squealing I jumped to my feet. \"Kit? what\'s going on up here?\" mother asked, an angry scowl upon her lips. Shaking my head, I cleared my mind of the demons haunting me. \"I don\'t want to hear noise, I want to hear you sleeping. Understand? your supposed to be under lock down; punishment not playtime.\"

When the door finally meant mother on the other side, I fell to my bed. Clutching a pillow to my chest I rested upon the mattress. Relax, settle down, it\'s just your imagination.

Suddenly the wind picked up and blew my windows wide open, a gust of wind sent a chill in the air along with a silence breaking howl. That was definitely not my imagination. A blur swept across my eyes.

Blinking away the fuzz of my mind, a face stared back into mine. frozen like before, I didn\'t say a word. His index finger lingered at his lips. \"Keep silent, vixen\" Ross hissed, his icy breath tickled my nose. Nodding, I smiled weakly before pushing my feet into his chest. Ross tumbled off me and onto the floor.

Leaning over the edge of my bed, I couldn\'t find him. There was no trace of his previous fall. Grasping the tip of the bedskirt, I lifted it to the level of my head. Holding my breath I sneaked a peak beneath me; he wasn\'t there.

Finally tiring of this engagement, I twisted in my bed, stretching to reach my bedside lamp. Flicking the light on, my room instantly glowed with new bright resignation. There, on the edge of my bed, sat Ross - His legs crossed beneath him.

\"You truly are a little viper\" Ross declared, his back resting against the footboard.

\"I must be going crazy. Yes, that\'s it. Im going crazy is all,\" I thought aloud. Why did this thing keep following me. If his mission was to kill me, then why keep such a long wait. Or maybe he\'s trying to scare me before he drains my veins of their pumping life source.

\"You\'ll only be crazy,\" Ross admitted, \"If you keep talking to yourself\"

Stunned from my thoughts, I stared back at Ross. \"So talking to the \'walking dead\' is less crazy then talking to one\'s self? Maybe your the one that\'s Crazy\"

Ross\'s eye\'s gleamed golden as they narrowed down to mere slits. The room grew cold, down to the point where I could see the breath I exhaled. I began to regret ever meeting this Ross.

I don\'t need this kind of stress, and I haven\'t asked for it. I grew stiff, he was just sitting there; doing absolutely nothing. By God, he\'s not crazy, he\'s stupid!

\"Is this your bedroom?\" Ross asked, his tone hinted disgust.

Raising my head high, I responded a snotty \'yes\'. My eye lids barely blinked; Ross now was moving closer into the shadows. My lamp lost it\'s ability to lighten a room. My thoughts wished to ask why he hides in the shadows, but my instinct kept me silent.

Now unfazed by my previous frozen fear, I laid a foot on the carpet beneath me. My silken robe fell around me, and appeared to float amidst my feet. Stepping forth towards the shadows my curiosity grew.

His eye\'s, their intensity were all I saw in the bleak darkness. They kept me hypnotized till I no longer felt dryness beneath my feet. Looking around me I no longer recognized my bedroom, instead ocean spread out in all directions. and I stood upon it\'s rippling surface, yet then again I didn\'t.

Catching my wonder, Ross chuckled. \"No worries, we\'re still in your bedroom, only now I command your minds eye. I order what you see, and don\'t,\" Grinning devilishly Ross flipped his hooded cape into the still water.

This didn\'t sound nor look good.
