Chapter 3: Welcome home
“Finally my first day of school is over. It seems the teacher doesn’t have control on her students, but well. There is this boy who just keeps staring at me, as if I weren’t human. Hmmm he isn’t wrong anyway” Saphire thought while heading to her home.
She walked up the street to a big dark house with no open windows or any type of light. There was tall weed all over the garden, yet there was a little patch of 5 times 3 square feet full of well-taken-care flowers. They were the only sight of living in the entire house. If Saphire didn’t knew better, she would have thought that it was abandoned.
She went to the door, opened it and walked in.
“Christopher!” she shouted “Christopher where are you? It’s me, Saphire”
“What are you doing here?” Asked a neutral voice from the darkness of the house.
Saphire turn around to see a tall, thin figure with long dirty-brown hair . Green eyes met intense blue ones. “What? I’m not welcomed to the only house I know in town?”
Christopher’s wings (same as Saphire) twinkle at her tone of voice. “There is a vampire slayer in town”
Saphire smiled, she knew this was the closest she would get her brother to say be careful. Don’t take it wrong he was overprotective… he just didn’t know how to express his feelings, that or he doesn’t wants to.
“Ummm. Christopher. I kind of forgot to find a place to stay the night in this town so can I stay some days, maybe weeks in your place?” Saphire asked.
“…whatever…” His tone of voice betrayed him. He was using a sweeter tone than before so Saphire knew her brother was more than happy to have her sister with him again.
“By the way, your flowers are beautiful.” She said, smiling to herself and following her brother to her new room in the house.

Saphire’s room was the only open window room in the entire house. His brother didn’t have the ability, or curse like he called it, to transform in a human in the day light, so he stayed in the doorway where light didn’t reach.
Imagine having to pass the same pain twice a day, and it is so intense that one couldn’t get use to it. He thanked his gods for not giving him such a curse but he felt bad for his sister.
“You shouldn’t go out tonight” Christopher said
“I need to feed”
“…”
“What? Worried that the vampire hunter traps me?”
“Yes” Was all he said before disappearing.
“Did he just admit he worries about me!!??”

Night came and Saphire in her vampire form tried to pass her brother.
“Don’t go”
“You can’t stop me” Saphire say in a low scary voice. The tattoo of a snake in her stomach shine in the darkness. Her red eyes didn’t show the happiness of before instead there was only anger, sadness and pain, but Christopher didn’t pay much attention to this. It always happened at night. Saphire was one who could be call double personality. In the day she was very cheerful, like if nothing bad has happened in her whole life, but at night it was like all the pain, anger and depression combined making a very dangerous person… or vampire.
“Saphire, there is no way I’m going to let you out tonight”
“We’ll see about that” Saphire said kicking Christopher on the knee making him lose balance.
“Saphire wait!”
She didn’t wait and left.
