Ryoku wondered the streets for hours, one Angel could only watch over so much land per round, and tonight seemed to be a particularly slow night. ///Hmmmm....something else must have Hell\'s attention at the moment...but what could it be to keep them from recruiting humans?///
She shrugged her delicate shoulders, she couldn\'t care less, it only made her job easier.
Behind her the shadows moved cautiously, desperately hoping to stay unnoticed by the fierce angel it was following. ///Master, if I die doing this I hope you at least mourn this servant a little more than some of the others. *Sigh* Oh well if I die it will be for the true master of Hell.///
Ryoku stopped as the scent of Hellfire reached her nose, there was a higher level demon nearby, and apparently they were using a lot of power....which could mean only one thing, they were trying to make another human go over to their side. ///The quiet never lasts.../// An evil smile spread across her lips as she made her way towards the energy signature. ///But then again, I don\'t like the quiet.///
She silently entered the abandoned building and made her way to the top floor, the door was closed and locked. That didn\'t stop her as she used her hand to sense what was happening. An innocent lay tied on the floor as a high demon commanded a human to slay the boy for his master and then his rewards would be great.
The man raised the dagger that was offered to him and looked down at the boy. \"I\'m sorry little brother, but you should have stayed home.\"
He began bringing the dagger down as Ryoku kicked in the door, \"Sorry to intrude.....wait, no I\'m not.\" A wave of her hand sent the dagger flying across the room. The man fell to the floor, covering his head and begging for forgiveness as the sight of her wings informed him just who or what had happened upon his supposed sacrifice.
The demon growled, \"Who are you to interrupt this tribute to my master?\"
She smiled evilly giving the demon reason to pause at such a look on an angel\'s face, \"I am The Guardian Angel of the Night, and it is my duty to interrupt this tribute.\"
\"This human does it by his own free will.\"
She laughed coldly, further confusing the demon, \"Do not lie to me, he may be willing to follow your orders and I couldn\'t really care less, but the boy is innocent and that makes it my duty.\"
\"So be it, if it is a battle you want, it is a battle you will receive.\"
She pulled her sword free and stood ready for the attack, the demon looked at her a few moments before drawing its own weapon, a katana. He attacked without warning, figuring that she would be as easy to slay as an ordinary angel, but the mistake cost him as she flew past him, taking a large chunk out of his side. \"You underestimate me, not a wise thing to do.\"
The demon looked at her with true fear in his eyes before he actually ran from the building, intent on informing his master of these new events.
Ryoku cut the ropes on the boy and waited for the fear to leave his eyes as he looked up at her, \"You\'re an angel?\"
She almost smiled at the innocence in him, she could practically taste it, \"Yes, now I want you to return home at once.\"
\"Can you tell me your name first?\"
She chuckled, human children were the only humans she liked for the most part, \"My name is Ryoku.\"
\"I like your name, mine\'s Suki. Thank you, bye bye!\" He ran out of the building, leaving his big brother alone with an angry angel and all that anger was directed at him.
\"You would have sacrificed your own baby brother....and here I thought the demons were monsters.\"
\"I\'m sorry, please forgive me?\"
\"It is not I you should be asking to forgive you, but your brother and God.\" She pulled out a golden string and tied it around his finger.
\"Wh....what is that?\"
\"Something to keep you from harming the innocent......but I would begin praying for forgiveness from God now and beg your brother as well.\" She turned and began to walk away.
\"Wait, are you really the only angel to guard us all at night?\'\'
\"Yes, none of the others can do much after dark.\"
\"Then I should thank you for saving my brother from me. I am Zetsumei, and should there ever be anything that I can do to repay you, please, find me and ask.\"
\"What would I ever need from a human? Let alone one so weak willed?\"
\"Just don\'t forget that I\'m here, you never know what the future holds.\"
Ryoku shook her head as she walked out into the night, ///I swear that I\'ll never understand the human nature.///
The low level demon followed silently, mentally laughing at his more powerful brethren for running from a worthy opponent. ///Satan will find this amusing when I return....maybe I should find one of those picture-taker-thingys the human always use......what\'s it called.....a camera.....I think he would enjoy her appearance.///
