His Origins - Start of a New Life

****

“Do your parents know that a little child like you is out here at night getting a bus ticket…” The ticket seller growled at the boy studying his dirty looks and thin frame.

Runi looked up at him shyly having flinched at the tone of the elder mans voice, “Yes sir… My parents know I’m here… They’re too embarrassed to show their face because we are so poor sir…. They took all the money they had for food just to get me a ticket to…. New York City to live with my aunt and uncle… Please sir I really need a ticket.”

The ticket seller watched him carefully, with tired brown eyes from beneath a set of fuzzy graying eyebrows. His well-aged face contorted slightly at the poor sight before him and leaned back into the chair. He glanced back at the photos on his desk seeing his daughter with his grandchildren, their smiling faces looking up at him. He leaned forward and groaned slightly studying the boy and seeing his poor state began to print out the one-way ticket. “Tsk… you caught me on a good night child… it’s gate 11 the bus leaves in a half an hour… go buy yourself a little something from the concession stand it’ll be a long trip to New York City…”

Runi’s green eyes lit up at the ticket now hovering before him and gratefully took it from the older man. Holding the ticket close to his body and hearing the older man’s words he nodded before thanking him, then hurried off to actually get something decent to eat. Arriving at the cart his eyes went wide at the array of different things he could try. Closing his eyes to quell the sounds of his stomach he thought carefully about what he had been the wise choice. Being simple he purchased an un-salted pretzel and a bottle of water though his young teen body craved for a chance to sample other things that had been set out before him. After his items where purchased he made his way to the gate with little difficulty. He looked down at the ticket and then at the glowing numbers before him and read the destination. His green eyes lowered and he looked at the ‘chariot’ of his salvation, only to find the bus was now loading passengers. Giving the driver the ticket he found a seat alone by the window to sit besides and he continued his meal of salted pretzel and bottled water.

The bus filled slowly within the time that he had been sitting there. Slowly becoming bored he felt it was a good time to look and read through the paperwork that he had taken from his former home. He blinked in confusion at the name written out at the top of the page. Carefully he worded out his full name till it felt comfortable for him to speak it. A smile slowly formed upon his face as he realized that he was no longer constrained by the name given to him by the orphanage. He continued to read through the paperwork, not understanding most of it but there was enough that came to his attention. Birth certificates, social security card, and a bankcard had been stapled inside of a sealed envelope within the folder and written about on the outside. Though now other things had troubled him as he continued to read on. One most important thing’s was the amount of money sitting in the bank for him. Knowledge of the money and its location by bank was a good piece of information, the downside was he couldn’t touch a penny until he was legally eighteen.

“Well… I’ll just have to find a way to live for three more years….” he replied softly to himself before he noticed that woman was now sitting beside him. Nervously he smiled as he began tucking the folder back into his bag once more.

The woman beside him had curled blonde hair short and just barely touching her shoulders. She looked to be in her mid to late twenties but still held a youthful feel about her. Her eyes covered by dark sunglasses a warm smiled formed itself in her wine colored lips, which stood out from her cream like complexion, “Hey there kiddo this your first time on s?” s?”

Runi blinked in surprise that someone wanted to have a conversation with him in the first place. Nodding slowly he replied silently and nearly jumped when she touched his face. He shivered slightly not knowing why this strange woman had the need to touch his face and examine his features. But he knew to respect adults and remained still as she continued to look at him closely from behind the dark shades.

“How old are you kid?” she asked calmly her voice sounding with a mix of concern and questioning. Releasing his face she brought her hand up and removed her sunglasses. Her eyes blinked for a moment adjusting to the light as she turned her gaze back upon him. Her eyes as he noticed were a steel blue in color and almond in shape. Runi watched her with a faint blush across his cheeks from all of this uncalled for attention then finally spoke up.

“F-fifteen…” he replied stuttering the one word then looked down not tilting his head down even though she let go of his face some time ago, “I…. I’m going to go live with relatives…”

The woman smiled and leaned in; he caught the scent of a light perfume that caught hisereserest. “You don’t have a family in the city do you kid…” Those words made the boy beside her to immediately freeze and whimper in fear.

The stranger smiled once again and kissed his forehead causing Runi to turn his gaze upon her before she spoke, “its alright… here now don’t cry… So what are you running away from?”

“The orphanage… it was horrible there… I doubt if anyone there will miss me….”

The woman flashed a bright smile quickly as she lightly ruffled his hair, “There you go some honesty is good for a boy your age… my name is Lisette… You can call me ‘Lisa’ if you want… I’m a photographer…” She continued to smile as she watched the expressions change upon his face; “You’ve got really beautiful features kiddo for someone your age… In another year you could start modeling for companies….”

Runi smiled in return then looked back into his bag, “Well… according to my file I turn sixteen in another few months…”

Lisette looked at Runi and bit back from laughing softly at the look on his face, “Well then… here take my card….” She handed him a small card and he took it acceptingly. “So no family huh? ….Hmm well come with me when we reach New York. I’ll introduce you to my boss Toni…. And maybe he can give you a small job cleaning up the sets till you’re old enough to really start working…”

Runi’s eyes light up with a spark of hope. A smile formed on his face as he thought about life as a model on his way to the big apple. His green eyes turned towards the card in his hand and he softly read out the name of the company, “Bondage and Bishonen Magazine….”

“Don’t let the title fool you we do other things as well… “ Lisette smiled before opening her thermos of coffee that was at her side since she sat down, and started to drink the dark swill.
