Chapter 3
“You are
not backing out on me Nathan! Now get
back into this room immediately so I can dress you,” Annalise firmly placed her
hands to her hips, looking angry. Next to
her was the outfit she had picked out for Nathan, already knowing the boy will
end up wearing a t-shirt if she did nothing about it.yes\">
“Dress me?
I am not a doll.” Nathan reluctantly stepped back inside the room.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> A grim look was set on his face.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Nathan,
smile. This is not a funeral, ok? Now
I’ve got something here I think will make your eyes even greener.” Annalise
loved picking out clothes for the boy she had in front of her.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Nathan was beautiful.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Anything he wears looks nice.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Sometimes, it made Annalise jealous that a
guy would have such nice hair and such long lashes. Aren’t those reserved for
girls only?
“That shirt
I’ll wear, but no way am I wearing those leather pants!style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Where do you get this stuff anyways?”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Nathan held up the pants for inspection.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “I don’t think anyone can fit in these.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> They’re too small.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“You don’t
worry about where I get them, you just worry about wearing them, honey.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> C’mon! Put them on, Nathan.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I wanna see…” Annalise ignored Nathan’s
protests about hating leather, and shoved him into the bathroom to change.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Haha, only
you can push him around like that. If
it were the rest of us, we’d probably get shot.”yes\"> Miles emerged from the doorway.
“So, how do I look?”
“Miles!
OMG, you’re wearing contacts. And you
gelled your hair. Nice. The ladies
better watch out eh?” Annalise winked
at the smiling Miles. “Where’s Jace? I
haven’t seen him yet.”
“He’s
changing in his room. He’s still moody
about Nathan though.” Miles walked
inside and plopped on the soft bed.
“So I’m
guessing you have a ride for us to get there?” Annalise turned around to face
the mirror on her dresser. Taking out
her eyeliner, she slowly began to put on her makeup.yes\">
“Ya, the
only problem is that we have to leave in fifteen minutes.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I’m just here to tell you, so meet me in
front of the house and don’t be late, or else you’re walking there.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I’m going to check on Jace.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Miles waved as he exited the room.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
Nathan
stood in facing the mirror. The dark
green, button up shirt did match his eyes, and with a few buttons unfastened on
top, he looked sexy as hell. But the
pants… Nathan never imagined he’d get into those, but he did, regrettably.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Nathan looked at the mirror again.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> ‘These pants make me look like I have a big
butt.’ He frowned as he came out of the
bathroom.
“Nathan!
That took you long enough.” Annalise
circled around the boy, eyeing him up and down.yes\"> “Ooo… eye candy.”
“Watching
you do this makes me very uncomfortable.”
Nathan finally sat on the bed so Annalise would stop admiring his
ass. “You know, I think this outfit
makes me look gay.”
“You mean
you’re not?” Annalise said lightly,
smiling. A glare from Nathan wiped the
smile off her face. “Geez, Nathan.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I was just kidding.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> You need to lighten up, have some fun, and
get drunk. We’re gonna gou dou drunk
tonight!”
“I don’t
drink. Do you realize I can’t conceal
any of my weapons in these pants?”
“Why do we
need weapons anyways? We’re going to a club.”
Annalise grabbed her jacket and her wallet.yes\"> “Nathan, let’s go. \"> You
have your ID, right?”
“Ya.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> But there might be vampires there.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> You never know.”yes\">
“Nathan, give it a break for one
night, ok? You deserve it.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Who cares if there are vampires there?style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> If they don’t bother us, we wont bot
the
them.” Annalise grabbed Nathan’s arm
and dragged him out of the house, where the car was waiting.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
Kallias glanced at the two people
flanking him. Xanthe was a petite
woman, her long black hair waving behind her like a cape as she walked.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Her slightly almond shaped eyes and her red
lips made her look exotic, as well as dangerous.yes\"> The red dress she wore just enhanced her sexuality.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Jeannot was dressed in black, no surprise
there. But an ominous aura surrounded
the vampire, repelling any curious bystanders.
Kallias chuckled to himself,
thinking how they must look to outsiders.
His name meant ‘Beauty’ and he was perfect for the name.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Anyone who’d ever placed his or her eyes on
him would only think of that one word and nothing else.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> For Kallias also had an aura around him, an
aura that draws people near, making them want to grovel at his feet in
awe.
“I think we made quite an entrance.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Xanthe smiled seductively to the bouncers at
the dospanspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Time to let the fun begin,”
Jeannot licked his lips in anticipation, already swaying away from the trio,
looking for a young and willing body to seduce.yes\">
Kallias laughed.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “Have your fun, but remember to be on your
guard too. Vampire hunters are lurking
in this town.”
“Are we talking of that hunter who
killed Nikon?” Xanthe inquired.
“Him, in particular.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Kallias let his eyes glance over the crowd.
“Well, I hope you will have your
fun tonight. I know I will.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Without another word, Xanthe slithered into
the crowd.
Nathan’s protests were ignored,
again. He did not drink, he told them,
but they, being in a frenzied mood to get him drunk, disregarded any of his reasoning
against alcohol.
“Nathan, here’s something to start
you off. A classic margarita.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Annalise held up the lime green drink so
Nathan could take hold of it.
“No.” Nathan took a look at his
other friends, who were already ordering drinks of their own.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“But you promised to have fun
tonight!” Annalise sipped at the cold drink in her hands.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “Umm… good.
A little try?”
“Fine.” Nathan grabbed the drink,
knowing he would never get rid of her if he didn’t accept it.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Taking a gulp, Nathan almost spit the liquid
out. The alcohol burned through his
throat. “Ann, did you tell the
bartender to put extra vodka in this?”
“Nope, I threatened him to.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> And you better drink that all, or else.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> The small girl made a warning gesture, and
turned back to her innocent glare at Nathan.
“What? Didn’t I say we were going to get you drunk?style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Don’t give me that look.”e=\"me=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“I’m not giving you a look.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Nathan couldn’t help but like the girl.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Without her, he’d probably be friendless and
horribly alone right now.
“Hey Nathan, I’ve got a proposal,”
Miles screamed from the other end of the bar, quickly making his way over
towards him. “How bout, I challenge you
to drink that cocktail in one big gulp? I’ll drink mine too, see?” style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> He held up his own drink.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
Nathan started to say no, but
another voice spoke over his own. “He’ll
do it! I’m placing bets, you know.”
Annalise stood between the two, as a referee.yes\">
“Ok! You better place your bet on
me cuz I’ll win this one.” s\"> Miles gave
her a big smile.
“Sorry, my bet is on Nathan.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Aww…you always take his side.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Miles made a sad face.
“That’s because I know you can’t
drink for shit. Remember last time when
you threw up all over-” Annalise was interrupted when Nathan placed a hand on
her shoulders.
“I don’t think we need to reminisce
that again.” Nathan scowled as he saw
Jace walking over to see all the commotion.
They had not spoken to each other since that n.
“You guys aren’t dancing?”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Jace directed the questio Nat Nathan.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Nope! Not yet, anyways.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> We’re holding a contest to see who can drink
the most shots in ten seconds!”
Annalise chirped.
Nathan’s eyes widened.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “What! We are not.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
“Well, the rules just changed,
pretty boy. And if you want to play,
you’d better follow them.” Annalise
ordered about fifteen shots. “It’s an
odd number of shots, so whoever drinks more wins!”yes\"> style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
Nathan sighed in defeat.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> He knew that he’d better give in or they
were going to think of even more ridiculous plans.yes\"> ‘I guess eight shots isn’t too bad.’yes\">
“I got to see this!”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Jace leaned in.yes\"> “C’mon, Nathan, what have you gotta “My sense of direct” Na” Nathan Ann counted off to three and the “I guess I lost.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> You should’ve betted on Miles, Ann.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Nathan tried to sound defeated.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “Ha! I told you I’d win.”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Miles cheered himshimself.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> “Fine, but the loser has to drink “That wasn’t the rules.” Nathan “I vote for that.” Jace said. “I second the notion,” Miles agreed, “Well, it’s three against one, so After the game, everyone drifted Nathan kept a permanent scowl on

the effect of the alcohol when he got to the fourth shot or so.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Not wanting to get drunk, he purposely let

counter.

his face, but it was hard, especially since he was pretty sure he was very
close to drunk. He scolded
himself. Ten shots and a glass of
margarita were just enough to give him that disoriented feeling.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Carefully walking over to the lounge, Nathan
cursed. The ground no longer seemed so
stable, and he barely even noticed as an arm encircled around him waist.n

“Need help, beautiful?” A soft
voice whispered uncomfortably close to his ears.yes\">
“No, I’m fine.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> I’m just going to sit down.” Nathan
concentrated on making his way to the sofa.
“It looks like you’re having trouble.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Here, let me help.” The stranger stepped in
front of Nathan, blocking his way. “I
know a better place to relax.”
“Where?”yes\"> The alcohol had really impaired Nathan’s judgment, since he
really thinks this stranger was trying to help him.yes\">
“Right here. Where else?”style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Without any warning, the stranger’s lips was
on his own, trying to pry open Nathan’s mouth with his tongue.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">
The event finally registering in
his mind, Nathan pushed the stranger away.
The force made Nathan stumble, and in his not so sober stage, he fell backwards.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> Anticipating the hard ground, Nathan was surprised
when he hit something soft. ‘What’s
going on?’ Nathan turned to face the person
he fell on.
“Is this man bothering you, my
lovely?” A rich voice, one that he had
heard before, spoke. Clear sapphire
eyes almost glowed in the darkness. Nathan’s
breath caught in his throat as one thought entered his mind.style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> ‘Vampire.’
