Battle to the Abyss

The ground beneath his feet cracked as turned aside the primal demon’s blow. A spear against a cleaver of flame. Fire raced around him. Crackles as black lightning hungrily devoured the agonizing heat.

A blindly crack as that many tongued whip. His black winged angel catching the blow with ease. A dance perfectly choreographed as if they had planned it all.

It mattered not that he wasn’t a god. He was a deity and here in the fog he had his host.  For every cleaver blow there was his spear of crackling utter black and for every whip slash there was Harbinger’s shield.

The knife legged things, these fog bound abortions. Terrible they were in their visage but not nameless. They were but after thoughts.

For the only thing of most attention towered above them with its white-hot maw.

The primal demon with its white-hot gaze smote everything around it with it’s hope deleting heat. Surrounded by a shimmering mirage its tower frame left scorch marks upon the very ground.

Terrain swirled in and out of view as this deadly dance unfurled. Angel and deity undaunted, untouched by heat nor shadowy flame.

Levi felt the current within the fog pick up strength and there in the distance an encroaching abyss. Ruined temples crumbled; ancient skyscrapers toppled at the primal demon’s approach.

It could not flee from them. They harried it nor could that great and terrible demon of the ancient world crush them.

Servant and deity knew each other’s will.  With a thunderous crack the ancient thing of dark majesty lashed out. It could not trample them under foot, it could not crush them beneath its tread. The unknown horrors splintered in their wake, the nameless abominations broken by the fury of their battle.

Levi and Harbinger switched spots. That ancient gaze widened as Levi caught the many tongued lashed and wrapped it about his arm.

“I cast you down!” Levi heartily exclaimed as he jumped into that black abyss.

He danced midair and with a world breaking tug.

The mighty demon of the ancient world tumbled in utter surprise.  The black winged angel uttering a cry of wonder.

And lo! To watch a primal thing fall.

At long last the black winged angel struck. A shining blade of angelic grace pierced that primal flame. A resounding screaming.

They seemed to fall forever as water slowly rushed up to meet them.

"Dwarf, you’re only going to get one shot.” Paladin said simply as he watched out of the Private Room.

“Aye.”

The only good news was that the sun set. The dwarf vanished into the night. Troy looked at him shocked.

It was thankfully refreshing to do mundane chores

Part of him was incredibly concerned but the sheer knowledge of the terrible and great things in the world made his worry seem so insignificant. He kept learning more horrid things and fear strangely enough faltered.

He wasn’t in the mundane world any longer, He was among gods and monsters. He had been mighty among men.

Paladin wasn’t among mere men. He was among monsters and gods.

Evil existed.

It flourished and the only thing keeping it back was a fucking black gate.  There was no way the rest of the world would survive the horrors here in this valley.

Paladin used his grace to call his angelic slate. He could do this, As he started imparting everything he learned about this accursed valley.

No matter what, the outside world had to be made aware of what would happen should those gates ever break.

There wouldn’t be a world left. If this was the only thing that he succeeded in his entire life it would be worth it.

He could only really pray to heaven that he could make amends to Levi. To but ask with simple declaration that heaven keep Levi safe and beg forgiveness for what he had done.

And if he was lucky heaven would hear his plea.

It wasn’t a question if the God King could kill him. It was merely a question of how long Paladin could last and that estimate wasn’t very high.

At least a moment or two.

The God King Of No Rain was upon a peak that no mortal could reach. A peak no mortal should reach. For he was power.
