Chapter 29
Jared slowed his Mustang as he approached the mansion. There were several vehicles already lined up, waiting to get through the gate.
Coming to a halt, Jared shifted in his seat so he could look at himself in the rearview mirror. Big blue eyes outlined in black eyeliner stared back at him. Leaning down he ran his fingers threw his long brown hair.
Closing his eyes, Jared sighed. He knew Vin was going too pissed at seeing him, but right now he didn’t give a shit. He wanted – no, needed – to see his competition even if it meant enduring Vin’s wrath.
A honk snapped Jared out of his musing. Seeing the line moving, Jared moved his car forward. Jared recognized the man stepping out of a long black limo. His knuckles turned white from grabbing the steering wheel. The man was none other than the mayor himself. A cold shiver went down Jared’s back when the man turned and look in his direction. The man was handsome; there was no doubt from anyone. With his shoulder length blond hair and his distinguished face, no one could deny, but the man’s eyes gave him the creeps. He’d only met the mayor twice when he went into Vin’s office but each time it felt like the man could see right through him.
Jared snickered as he watched the mayor’s aggravation grow with the delay.
“I hope they deny you entrance, you stuck up bastard,” Jared muttered to himself.
“Damn,” Jared muttered as he watched the mayor get back into the limo and drive through the gate, “So much for small favors.”
Jared watched as two other cars went in.
“Finally my turn,”
Pulling up, a guard came forward. “Step out of the car, please.”
Billy watched as the long brown haired man step out of his car. He recognized the guy as Vin’s secretary and was surprised to see him here. Raising an eyebrow, Billy’s mouth fell open as he spied the man’s clothes. The man was clad in a tight black shirt that showed off his muscular chest. Billy’s eyes moved lower as he looked at the black leather pants that were like a second skin and a leather jacket. The man looked more like he was going to a club than to a birthday party.
Jared ignored the look the guard was giving him; Jared ran his hands down his clothes trying to straighten them out. He was used to the looks he received and he would endure them as long as he got what he wanted at the end.
Christopher looked at the guest list, noticing that Jared’s name wasn’t on it. Sighing, he walked over to Billy.
“Jared, we don’t have you on the guest list. You know we can’t let you in.” Christopher’s voice was deep and soothing.
He was expecting that answer. “I have a document that Vin needs to sign.”
Christopher raised an eyebrow. “Could this not wait until tomorrow?”
“No, I need his signature today or the deal may fall threw.”
“Let me call Vin/ I need his approval,” Christopher replied as he pulled out his cell phone.
‘Fuck!’ Jared’s mind screamed. He didn’t expect this.
Billy watched as Jared shifted from one foot to the other. He could tell the man was nervous but why? Narrowing his eyes, it wasn’t until Christopher snapped the phone shut and started talking that Billy took his eyes off Jared.
“Vin is in a meeting right now and can’t be disturbed,” Christopher explained. “Go on, Billy, and check out his car.”
Jared felt instant relief. Maybe someone above did like him.
“I’ve told the guard to inform me the minute Vin was out of his meeting.” Christopher’s stern voice drew Jared out of his musing.
“Shit, maybe not,” Jared muttered.
Christopher helped Billy with the car. On the passenger’s side, there was an envelope with several papers in it. After the search was complete, Christopher made another call. He noticed vehicles were starting to pile up and he needed to get Jared out of the way.
“Shit,” Christopher muttered, hanging up the phone.
“What’s wrong?” Billy asked as stood beside his boss.
“Vin is still in a meeting.”
“What are we going to do about him?” He was glad he didn’t have to make these decisions.
Christopher looked at Jared. He could hold the boy until he got Vin’s approval. That’s what he should do but if it was important that Vin signed these papers he didn’t want to be responsible if things got hectic and Jared was forgotten in the hustle. “Shit,” Christopher muttered again.
Jared’s weary eyes met Christopher. He knew the old guard hadn’t got word from Vin.
“I will be real quick, in and out,” Jared added, his blue eyes shifted from weary to coy. He knew the old guard was either gay or at least bi. Stretching his arms over his head, his shirt lifted, showing off his flat tan stomach.
Christopher’s eyes shifted as he looked at the exposed skin. He knew the young whelp was playing with him but decided to let Jared in.
“Let him on through,” Christopher said, stepping back.
Billy looked from Christopher to Jared. Shaking his head, he went into the guardhouse and pushed the button.
Jared smiled his sexy little smile at Christopher and opened his car door. Bending down slightly so his leather pants tightened, if that is possible, showing off his tight, little ass.
“You do know curiosity killed the cat,” Christopher said, watching Jared’s little act.
“Meow,” Jared said as he slid into the car.
Christopher watched that perfect ass disappear before sighing and shaking his head. “Damn, this job going to be the death of me.”
Billy came back and stood beside his boss. “Do you think it was wise to let him in?”
“No, not wise at all,” Christopher muttered.
“Then why did you?” Billy asked as he turned to face Christopher.
“Because there is no doubt those papers had to be signed,” Christopher said, still watching the taillights of Jared’s car.
Christopher sighed as the next car pulled up. “Well, Billy, I have a feeling this is going to be one long night for the both of us.”
“It seems that way,” Billy muttered as he stepped up to the driver’s window.

Jared smiled as went through the gate. He couldn’t believe it worked. He was going to be by Vin’s side like it was meant to be. He wasn’t crazy; he knew Vin would be furious with him at first but once he showed Vin he had class, Vin would appreciate him for more than just his body. He just needed a chance to show Vin that he shouldn’t let a kid to do a man’s job and this was his chance.
Jared slowed as the mansion came into view. He could just imagine himself here with his lover, sharing his life with Vin. This could be all his one day if he played his cards right.
As he pulled up, a teenaged boy came running up to his car. Oh yeah, he could get use to this real fast.
He saw several people entering the palatial home as he walked up the stairs. Jared snorted as Detroit’s elite all showed up for a boy’s birthday party. Life just wasn’t fair.
Two guards at the entrance of the mansion stopped Jared. One had a clipboard, his eyes roaming up and down, while the other who looked more like a bouncer than a body guard had a dismayed look on his face.
“Name?” the guard with the clipboard asked, his voice holding a hint of boredom.
“Shit, not this again.”
