Chapter 27
**Last time**
The sky is now paling on the horizon and the human decides to move quickly but only makes it three steps before he’s stopped by cold and angry words.
“And where do you think your taking him?”
**Continued**
Crald slowly turned trembling as he faced an infuriated vampire. His first thought was to drop the wolf and run for it, then he thought bout taking off with the wolf, but rejected that idea, since the wolf would only slow him down. At any rate, the fact was moot as he could not out run the creature of darkness. His only chance was to stand and fight, not that that was much of a chance. His desperate planning was interrupted when the vampire spoke again.
“I asked you a question you filthy human,” Vlad said with much restraint, considering the object of his stalking was laying broken in the human’s arms.
Crald considered lying, considered ignoring the question, even considered yelling for the hunters to help, but in the end stated, “I don’t know somewhere where he’ll be safe from Beorn and the others for awhile, I guess.”
Vlad would have accused the human of lying to him except for the fact that it was obvious the human was telling the truth. This confused the vampire due to the fact that he could smell every humans distinct odor coming from Ivaylo’s abused ass, and this human was one of the strongest of the scents. Yet here was this vile creature trying to take the wolf to safety, or maybe he was just trying take the wolf for his pleasure alone.
“Well, human, you needn’t worry yourself further I will take the mutt to safety. Hand him over, go back to your cesspool you call a camp, and consider yourself lucky you are not dead. If I had the time, all of you would be sucked dry tonight, but as it stands I will have to let my revenge on you wait.” Vlad commanded.
“No,” was the response he received.
This infuriated the vampire. ‘How dare this human,’ even in his thoughts the word was more of a curse then a title of species, ‘say no to me when I’ve graciously told him I would spare him.’
“I do not believe I heard you correctly, could you repeat yourself?” the question was a menacing hiss.
“I said, ‘no’. I will not give him to you. You might just want to drain him dry and that I will not allow.” was Crald’s shaky but firm response.
“Heh, your one to talk. You and your friends back their have done a good enough job towards draining him dry...” Vlad stops his barely started tirade, shocked to see the human’s eyes full of sadness and regret as tears flow down his cheeks.
“Yes, we did. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself for taking advantage of him in his weakened state.... but that is why I will protect him with my life. I did a lot of this to him and so it is my responsibility to ensure he is safe ‘till he’s able to care for himself.”
Vlad was speechless. For five years he had lived among humans, and during that time he had never seen a man take responsibility for his actions willingly in the way this man had. He was a rare find, for any race and if steered in the right direction may even become worth keeping around.
“Come with me, Human. You will not be safe from the humans when they wake and discover you have taken their prey from them while they slept.” was the simple invitation the vampire presented to Crald.
“Wait now im confused now your telling me to come with you?”
“Yes, I may need to defend Ivaylo and myself and it would be easier to do if I had another set of hands and feet to carry him to safety while I fight, but know if you betray me I wont think twice of draining and eviscerating you” Vlad explains shortly. He watches almost amused as the human swallows hard in fear but is pleased when he nods acceptance, “good then lets move were are too out in the open and too far from the safety of our group for my liking.” That said Vlad takes off running being sure to stay in eyesight of the human and his wolf.
Crald struggled to keep up with the agile vampire, being loaded down with Ivaylo’s dead weight the entire way. He refuses to call out to the vampire to slow knowing they needed to move fast if they were to escape his former leaders ire for a while at least.
Meanwhile, back in the cave, the Beorn enters the captive’s area, and becomes infuriated at the fact that his captive was missing, “WHICH ONE OF YOU IDIOTS LET HIM ESCAPE?!” His men woke abruptly and cowered away from his angry continence.
Seeing his opportunity and the fact that Crald is no longer in the cave, One Eye speaks up, “Beorn, it was the treacherous Crald. I saw him eyeing the wolf. He must’ve decided to take the prize for himself, since he’s the only one that isn’t here right now.” He watched smugly as the rage built on his leaders face, ‘Now revenge will be mine’.
“Let’s move, he’ll be slowed by his burden and we should easily catch up to him,” Beorn commanded, grabbing his weapons and heading out in pursuit of his treacherous second in command and victim.

Wow I don’t believe it! Not only did I update quickly but I also made it a good size chapter. Please, review it really does help me to write better and longer. Until the next time, and Happy New Years once more.
