TOKYO BOYS
Chapter 27

With threats from the boss forgotten, despite the relative proximity to 2-chome, Daisuke dared visiting his favorite hangout place, dragging Yuuto with him. The smaller boy wished he was able to say no, but that didn’t work with Daisuke anyway. At least all he had to do was stand behind and watch. He didn’t even buy any food, so he wasn’t worried about spending any money either.

“Daisuke…” Yuuto elbowed the taller teen.

“Not now, Yuu-chan…” Daisuke didn’t even lift his eyes from the machine. He was too busy competing against a friend.

“Daisuke… look…” Yuuto kept nudging him, sticking his elbow in Daisuke’s ribs. “It’s your little brother.”

Daisuke looked up. Indeed Akira was in a near zone, playing with some of his friends. Daisuke wasn’t sure what to do, and then pulled Yuuto in. “Play for me…” He left Yuuto with the game. Yuuto attempted to resist but Daisuke had already walked away.

“Akira.” Daisuke cleared his voice.

The fourteen year old stopped laughing with his friend and turned around to face his older brother, a stunned expression on his face.

“Yo.” Daisuke smiled lightly.

“Brother!” Akira’s eyes filled with tears and he ran over to his older brother, jumping on him, almost making him fall. “Brother, I’m so sorry!!” He cried, burying his face in his brother’s chest.

His friends looked on, confused as to what they were witnessing, but the young boy didn’t care.

Daisuke grabbed Akira’s arms, forcing him to let go. “It’s okay, Aki. I’m not angry with you.”

“I tried to get dad to forgive you…” Akira wiped his face with his sleeve. “He’s such a mean bastard… I’m so sorry…”

“Don’t worry about me, Aki. How are you holding up?” Daisuke smiled and tousled the boy’s hair.

“It’s not fun without you…” The boy admitted. “They don’t talk about you at all… It’s like you’ve never existed.”

Daisuke chuckled. That sounded about right.

“Oh, I’ve got a new phone. Write down my email ok? We can still keep in touch,” he said and took out his phone.

Akira nodded and they exchanged email addresses and numbers.

“Want a round against me?” Daisuke asked.

“Sure!” Akira’s face lit up.

“Yuu-chan!” Daisuke approached his friend and peered into the screen. “I can’t believe you got game over in less than five minutes…”

Yuuto frowned. “You know I suck, it’s your fault for letting me take over!!”

Daisuke laughed and gave him a brief squeeze before returning his attention to Akira. He asked his other friend to clear the machine for his brother and they spent the rest of the evening battling each other, until they were kicked out of the arcade. Daisuke felt good about seeing his brother again. He wanted to tell sensei about it, but it would have to wait for the next morning at school.

“It’s good you got to talk to your brother again,” Yuuto said when they returned to his place.

“Un…” Daisuke nodded and sighed. “He seems okay, I’m actually feeling relieved.”

Yuuto opened the door and switched the light on, before removing his shoes at the entrance.

“Your mom is working late again?” Daisuke asked, peeking into the darkened little house.

“Ah, yeah…” Yuuto didn’t want to dwell on the subject. “Anyway, I’ll get the bath ready…”

“Yuu-chan.” Daisuke grabbed his sleeve when he stepped on the genkan and Yuuto was forced to stop and turned to his friend.

“Thank you for letting me stay over.” Daisuke smiled heartily.

Yuuto blushed. “Wh-what are you saying, of course I would…”

Daisuke let go of Yuuto’s arm. “I know I’ve been a lousy friend lately… it’s just that so much stuff is going on… I just don’t want you involved in my problems.”

He had never told Yuuto exactly what he had been doing, nor was he ever going to. Whoring around was not something he was proud of, and it was now history.

Yuuto huffed. He wanted to tell Daisuke that sharing the pain and the trouble was part of what being friends meant, but seeing as he was hiding his own problems from Daisuke, it felt insincere to say it.

“Don’t worry about it,” he simply said and walked away.

Daisuke sighed. He expected Yuuto to yell at him for causing Moriyama-sensei to break up with his girlfriend, but Yuuto had just been quiet over the entire issue. He knew Yuuto was angry with him, without the other boy having to say anything.

Kyoto was chilly but gorgeous as ever. The autumn colors were still decorating the city with shades of red and yellow and took Yuuto’s breath away. He wanted to sit down and draw. Unfortunately, they were in the middle of doing an educational tour and his set of water color pencils was tucked safely in his large bag, which was still inside the bus’ trunk. He made a mental note to take it with him on the next tour, but he still took out his notepad from his backpack to sketch some of the trees.

Daisuke shifted his weight from one leg to the other. Kyoto was pretty, but he would’ve liked better to get to the shopping area and listen to new singles at the music store. He hasn’t done that in a while. He glanced over at Moriyama-sensei.

The sexy teacher, who also happened to be his current guardian and lover, listened carefully to the guide’s words. He seemed really interested in the subject of Kyoto’s history, even though Daisuke was sure he had heard it many times over.

Finally the lecture ended and they were allowed to hang around by themselves again, before the scheduled visit to the craft museum.

Daisuke was surrounded by girls and a few boys and led the way between the small shops. Yuuto sighed and walked slowly behind them. Midori turned around and slowed down, letting him catch up with her. Yuuto sucked in breath in surprise, but she just smiled at him and started up a casual chat.

They stopped before a manga shop. Yuuto looked at the show window and asked Midori to enter. There were a few other students in the small shop, and also a group of foreign women that crowded the doujinshi section and giggled with joy as they picked up more books than they could carry. Yuuto had a hard time understanding their conversation that was carried on in English. Though he wasn’t so bad at the subject, he felt the language they were using wasn’t taught at school.

“Eeeeee Elise, check this out! Kaname Zero!”

He perked his head when he heard his name called by the red headed foreigner, but quickly realized they were likely not talking about him.

“Oooh, I bet it has lots of fluids exchange!” Her friend went to have a peek, adding yet another book to her large pile.

The girls giggled together, laughing to a joke only they understood. He blushed when he spotted the overly suggestive book cover that left no place for doubt.

Despite the curiosity, Yuuto felt bad about staring at them and moved on from the squealing foreign girls to the art books, picking one to leaf through.

“We should go back… the ten minutes are up…” Midori said and he had to put down the book. He bowed shyly to the shopkeeper, feeling a little sad he couldn’t afford buying anything, and rejoined the other students.

“Yuu-chan where were you?!” Daisuke stood before him. “I was worried you got lost!”

“Sorry…” Yuuto mumbled. He was surprised Daisuke noticed his absence.

“He was with me, in the manga shop…” Midori told Daisuke.

Yuuto wished she hadn’t, because a smirk crept on the tall boy’s face and he thought he knew just what he was thinking. Fortunately the teacher asked for their attention before Daisuke could have said something embarrassing.

Daisuke wandered around the hotel’s hallway in search of Moriyama-sensei. Everyone was already in their rooms, playing social games before lights out. Yuuto was sitting in his bed and drawing his impression from the day’s walk around the city.

As Daisuke suspected, Moriyama-sensei was on the roof, smoking.

“It’s freezing outside… why are you here?” Daisuke rubbed his arms as he stepped into the chilly wind.

“I told you, I don’t like smoking indoors.”

Daisuke took out his own pack of cigarette, sticking one in his mouth. He was about to take out his lighter when Moriyama-sensei snatched the cigarette from his mouth.

“No underage smoking,” he said sternly.

“Come on… it’s cold!” Daisuke frowned. “Besides, second hand smoking is even more hazardous to one’s health than first hand smoking, you know.”

Moriyama-sensei threw him a glance. “You should be in your room. What are you doing here?”

Daisuke moved closer behind his teacher, resting his chin on the man’s shoulder. “I came to second hand smoke with you… isn’t it romantic?”

“Go away…” Moriyama chuckled, shaking the boy off his shoulder.

Daisuke stepped aside and rubbed his hands together, before bringing them near his mouth and blowing hot air.

“Look at you, you’re shivering…” Shouji said and put out his cigarette. “Go back to your room.”

“I have an idea how to get myself warm…” Daisuke smiled and leaned to kiss his teacher’s soft lips, lingering on the taste of tobacco.

“Don’t even think about it…” Shouji drawled. “It’s lights out soon.”

Yuuto was glad he managed to finish his drawing before they had to turn the lights off. He tucked his notepad in his backpack and returned to his futon. He noticed Daisuke wasn’t in the room. He wondered where he was, but when the lights went out and he still hasn’t returned, Yuuto understood. He cursed the other boy for corrupting him to think about such things in the first place. Then he cursed him again for doing such things.
