Chapter 27
As Brad entered the mansion, two guards greeted him. One named Mike looked at Brad’s ID, while the other did a partial body search.
‘What the hell?’ Brad thought as his body stiffened under the roaming hands. ‘How many fucking body searches am I going to go through?’
“Everything seem to be checking out, Mr. Pitt,” Mike said. “I’ll inform Mr. Diesel you’re here.”
Brad watched the guard walk to the intercom and push a button. After a long silence, a gruff voice answered back. “Bring him to my office.”
“Yes, Mr. Diesel,” the guard before releasing the button.
“This way Mr. Pitt,” the guard said as he raised his hand in the direction he wanted Brad to walk.

“Damn it!” Vin roared out.
Sean stared at Vin, his eyes never leaving the man’s angry face. Something had Vin worked up and that meant bad news for everyone.
“Vin?” Sean’s eyes were full of unspoken questions. “What has happened?”
“You.” Vin’s strained voice floated across the room.
“Me? Vin if it’s about the puppy,” Sean started to say but was cut off by a fist slamming on the desk.
“I don’t give a fuck about the damn puppy,” Vin roared out. “That discussion will be dealt with later. But for right now, I want to know why Russell is back in town.”
“What!” Sean stood up, his face masked with confusion.
Vin stared at Sean; he would have laughed at the expression the usually stone cold face made if the situation wasn’t serious.
“I need to cancel the party. There will be too many people running around to keep track of,” Vin explained as he was about to pick up the phone.
Sean stood there, his mind torn between what to do. He didn’t want to cancel Orlando’s party because the boy had been looking forward to it ever since he’s been told about it but still he knew what Vin said was true.
“Fuck,” Vin swore again. “I can’t cancel the mayor has arrived.” Vin swore as he slammed down the phone.
“Do you know for sure, Russell?” Sean asked, ignoring Vin’s statement.
“According to my informant it seems he’s been in town for quite a while,” Vin snarled as hatred filling his voice. “You were supposed to take care of him!” Vin’s eyes narrowed pinning Sean with all the hatred he was feeling right now.
But before Sean could say anything a knock at the door silenced him.
Sean stared down at Vin, his eyes lingering on the cold mask for several seconds before turning and walking back to the dark corner of Vin’s office. He knew later there would be hell to pay.
As Sean settled down, Vin pushed a button beneath his desk, causing the door to unlock.
**
Brad opened the door and stepped into the room. He noticed Vin behind his desk and felt a thick layer of tension filling the room, making no further move to enter the office.
Vin stood up and walked around his desk, “It’s about time you made it.” Vin was snappish as he approached the man that would be protecting his heart.
Sean stared at the two men from his corner. Sean could see Brad’s body tense slightly at Vin’s words, but showed no outward emotion. ‘This man might make it here after all,’ Sean mused to himself.
“Come, Sean, it’s time for Brad to meet Orlando,” Vin said as he walked past Brad. “I have no time to waste.”
“Don’t you think we should inform Brad of the situation?” A questioning voice came from the darken corner.
Brad turned and saw a body materialize out of the dark corner, his eyes connected with Vin’s right hand man. One’s commanding respect, the other’s promising retribution if he should fail his job.
“If there is anything I should know that will help me protect your boyfriend, I think I should be told,” Brad said, looking between both men, feeling the tension radiating off both them like a thick cloud of smoke.
Vin stared into ocean blue eyes for several moments. Vin knew the man was right, Russell was a danger but it was personal. And personal stayed personal.
“All you need to know is someone is back in town that could be a possible danger to my angel. If you do your job then everything will be okay.” Vin’s voice was clipped and to the point.
**
As Vin stepped into the foyer, he noticed several guests walking around, admiring his priceless art. He hadn’t realized the time was getting so late. He needed to get Brad into position so he could greet his guests properly.
The small group walked to the back of the house. They had to stop several times so Vin could greet first one person then another.
As Vin stepped onto the patio, Sean leaned over. “Put your shades on.”
Brad turned his head and raised an eyebrow at Sean. “Why?”
“Just do it,” a harsh whisper answered back, “Do it.”
Brad pulled his shades out and put them on as he stepped out, wondering why he had to put them on in the first place.
Vin’s face became hard and his eye narrowed as he saw Orlando on his knee’s wrestling with damn puppy Sean had bought him, Eric beside him laughing.
“Orlando!” A snarl voice floated across the yard.
Several of the guests standing close by stopped talking and turned to see what the commotion was about.
Both boys looked up at the sound of Vin’s voice. Orlando’s startled eyes rested on Vin’s tense body and knew the man was mad.
Brad stared at the young man; this Orlando was tall and very muscular, Vin’s boyfriend seemed capable of taking care of himself. Then he shifted his gaze to the young boy beside Vin’s boyfriend. They both had similar looks about them, but unlike this Orlando, the boy beside him was much younger and slender, more delicate looking, but there was no mistaking they were brothers.
“Hell, his boyfriend could be a body guard himself,” Brad muttered mostly to himself.
Sean cast Brad a sidelong glance. He heard what the blond beside muttered and smirked.
“Wrong one,” Sean said, as he turned and stared at Orlando. Sean didn’t need to see the man’s face beside him to know what his reaction would be, for he has seen it many times on many faces.
“Wrong one?” Brad muttered, confused. Then it dawned on him. “Wrong one.” Brad’s eyes returned to the boy, who by now had gotten up and started walking toward them. “No,” Brad’s voice was confused. “He is but a boy.”
