Chapter Twenty-Seven

I stepped out of the Faeires Mounds with Raiden behind me. I spotted Kingston and Andreas arguing with one of the Imperial Guards and walked over. “They’re ok.” The guard glanced at Raiden, who nodded, before disappearing back in the Mounds. I would deal with the guard’s listening to Raiden over me later. Right now, I had bigger problems.

Kingston moved to come to me and I stepped away, holding my hands up. “Don’t, Kingston. I don’t want anyone touching me until I figure out what’s going on. Raiden, will you go stand with the other two, please?”

“Yes, Alexia.” Raiden moved near Andreas, but Kingston’s eyes followed him like he was something good to eat.

“Who is he, Lexi?”

“Kingston Wexler, Prince Raiden of the Imperial Guard. You met him last night. Raiden, Andreas Quinlan, oldest vampire. Not that that’s over with, what the fuck is wrong with me?” I began to pace in front of them, not knowing what else to do.

“Alexia, could you explain to us what you think might be wrong with you?” Andreas’s calming voice broke through the chaos in my head and I relaxed slightly. Would touching him help or make it worse? I was tempted to find out, but scared at the same time.

“I knew going into this whole faerie thing that I would have to find a few Consorts. At least one of the Outside and one of Fey blood, but what I was neglected to be told was that the power found the Fey Consort. I was also neglected to be told that the power forces me to fall in love with said Consort.” I was still pacing, trying to keep from looking at the three guys. “Raiden, how do you feel about me?”

I didn’t stop pacing as I listened to him breathe as if he were thinking hard. “I … I believe I might be in love with you, your majesty.”

“Raiden.”

“I’m sorry. It’s force of habit. I am guessing that my answer did not help your state of mind any, did it?” Raiden’s voice seemed so sad that I had to look up, but looking at him left me looking at Kingston and Andreas as well.

“No, it didn’t. What’s going on? I gave my heart to Kingston and yet the power decided to give it to you as well, Raiden. I still have this burning love inside me for Kingston, but I feel the same thing for Raiden. Someone, fix this!” I threw my hands into the air before collapsing onto the ground, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

“You’re telling us that you’re in love with your Faerie Consort, and yet still in love with me?” Kingston’s voice was relatively calm, but I knew that his face held his true emotions. It was a good thing I was looking at the ground.

“Yes. I don’t know why, but yes.”

I flinched as his hands came onto my shoulder. He lifted my chin gently so that I could see his face and all I could see what understanding. “You’ve been involved in magick all your life and you still don’t understand it. Sometimes I forget how young you truly are.”

“I’m not that young.” I frowned, because it was the only thing I could think of, and his lips met mine in the chastest of kisses. “Though if you keep kissing me, I can be as young as you want.”

He laughed and pulled me to my feet. He turned to Raiden and smiled. “Seeing as she is in love with both of us, how do you feel about sharing her?”

Raiden looked at me before turning to Kingston with a shrug. “It’s her body. As long as I know that I own a portion of her heart, I’m perfectly alright sharing her. And with a demon like yourself, I would be most honored.”

Kingston blushed and I frowned. “What am I missing here? What does he mean by that comment?”

“Um, I kind of helped the Faeries in battle a few centuries back. I think it was Raiden’s father who fought at my side. He was a good man.” Kingston turned to Raiden and they had that guy moment of understanding.

“OK, too much macho for the Faerie Queen.” I stepped away from the two and walked toward Andreas, stepping into his arms as soon as I was able. I felt his arms wrap around me and could feel Raiden’s eyes on my back. “Explain it to him, Kingston, I’m too tired to think about it right now.”

I breathed in the heavy scent of vampyre and felt my fangs elongate in response. I gasped and shoved Andreas away from him. He looked as shocked at the reaction as I was. I shook my head and groaned before loosing my footing and falling into Raiden’s arms. “Not you too. Please, Goddess, not you too.”

“Not him too what?” Raiden moved me to face him and dropped me, Kingston barely picking up the slack. “You’re going vampyre. That’s not natural.”

“She has found her vampyre Consort.” Kingston smiled at Andreas before laughing almost hysterical. “I knew there was something else between the two of you. I could feel it. It was distant, but he’s the only male vampyre you trust, Alexia. Why wouldn’t it be him?”

“I didn’t want it to be.” I looked at Andreas and saw him nod in response.

“I love you, Alexia, but I would never have asked this. I don’t know if I can and still be bound to you as I am.” Andreas looked so forlorn. He started to pull himself from me, mentally and physically. I had noticed that since we were bound that I could read into his mind easier, but not now.

I caught a glimpse of real, honest to the gods, no power attached to it, madly in love with me in his brain a second before he pulled back. I looked deep into myself and found that same love in me. It was a love built on years of hate turned into unrelenting passion. It wasn’t the power that was calling to make him my Consort, but me.

“No, no, no.” I shoved away from Kingston and Raiden, grabbing the front of Andreas’s shirt and pulled him down to me. “I will not lose you.”

My lips were on his before I could stop myself. With Andreas, it didn’t have to be sex that made him my Consort, though that would eventually come. Blood would work for this, so I pulled back and bit down hard on my lip enough to draw a fair amount of blood. I moved to his mouth again, kissing him, though this time I used one of my fangs to pierce his tongue as it slipped into my mouth.

My blood mingled with his and I felt that same bond I had with Kingston and Raiden pour from me into Andreas, causing him to gasp. I caught him as he fell, my lips still on his, and let the life power I now contained inside me flow through him. The warmth of true life moved through his body as I held him and I knew that he would be able to watch the sunrise with me in the morning, knew that he could walk amongst the living in the daylight with me.

I found Cassie in my mental bond I had with her and tried to pour some of that into her, but I didn’t think it had worked. I couldn’t feel her as well as I could feel the man that was now kissing me like his life depended on it.

I pulled back and stood for a moment before collapsing to the ground, caught by his strong, living arms. “Wow, Andreas, had I known a kiss from you could be like that, I would have tried it years ago.”

“If you had tried it years ago, we would not be in this situation, would we?” Andreas kissed me gently, smiling.

“I just loved to hate you. Now, I just love you.” I smiled and returned the kissed, wrapping my arms around his neck.

Kingston and Raiden each laid a hand on my shoulder and I gasped as a shockwave hit all of us, knocking them onto the ground with the force of the blow. I knew that this was good for me, because with this much power behind me, Melodux didn’t have a chance, but what would it mean for the Fey?

“My goddess, with power like this on the throne, the Fey will never have to worry about being invaded again.”

“Raiden, please tell me that you didn’t just read my mind.” I looked up at him, smiling at the slight disarray of his hair.

“I don’t know, Alexia. I thought it was my thought, but I know I’m hearing Kingston’s thoughts in my head right now. And Andreas … he’s in there too. Maybe that was you.” Raiden shrugged and gave me a quick kiss. “The Queen’s Consorts are bond to her as well as each other, hence why there are usually only two or three of them.”

“I’m just glad none of you are the jealous types. Wait! Are any of you the jealous types?”

Kingston laughed and shook his head. “I could care less who you sleep with as long as I get a piece of it every once in a while.”

Raiden nodded his agreement, but Andreas remained silent for a moment before speaking. “I will only share you with these men, Alexia, because I have seen into your heart to know what it would mean for you to lose them. All others, I will unfortunately be jealous of.”

I smiled and kissed him, hard. “I’m just glad you were honest. I feel complete now, so I think you three are it. I have a Consort for every species I carry in my body.”

“How does that explain me, Lexi?” The dreaded question came from Kingston.

“Andreas is my vampyre, Raiden is both my witch and my faerie, and you, my dearest Kingston, are the part of myself I refuse to tell others about. Though I fear as close as the four of us are going to get in the very near future, I should tell you. My mother wasn’t just a vampyre. She was a vampyre demon hybrid.”

“Well that explains a lot.” Kingston sighed and sat back on the grass beside Raiden. His hand brushed the other man’s and he smiled. “Since that’s out of the way, I have one more question for all of us. Who here is not homophobic?”

We all raised our hands and he smiled wider. “Good, because Raiden’s hot, Alexia, and I would love to have him and you in bed with me at the same time.”

I died laughing at the look on Raiden’s face before standing unsteadily and looking at the horizon. “The sun is rising.”

Andreas stood quickly, panic on his face. “I have to get inside.”

He moved to head into the Mounds, but I stopped him with a hand on his arm. “Stop. Trust me.”

I wrapped my arms around his waist, feeling a little of the tension release his body. I felt Raiden and Kingston move up beside the two of us, all of us looking at the far horizon and the small amount of sunlight peaking over it.

The sun burst from the horizon, nearly blinding us all, but Andreas remained untouched by the flames. “It’s beautiful, Alexia. I have not seen a sunrise in nearly two thousand years. How could I ever repay you?”

I shrugged and began to walk down the hill to where my car was parked. “Come work for Glamour Hunts. We need more studs on staff to seduce some of the females we hunt. You, Raiden, and Kingston would all be perfect for the job. Are you up for it?”

“I would do anything for you, Alexia.”

“I know, Andreas, but I will not ask something of you that I am not willing to do myself. I won’t ask it of any of you guys if I’m not willing to do it.” I slid into the car and they all slid into the car with me, content on going with me. It was going to be an interesting day in the office, that was for damned sure.
