The Princess
The Princess
Melody fell away from the throne after the king finally released the scarves from around her. She pulled herself harshly away and nearly snarled at the man who entered the room, or had been there the entire time. From what she understood of the maze he should not have been able to enter the room unless he had already been there. Had he watched the king rape her, had he watched as the king told her of her true heritage.
“Are you truly my father?” she nearly screamed, pushing herself to her feet and holding her regal chin high. She may have looked in disarray, she may have been a mess before them all, but she would hold on to her nobility that was shattering around her due to a father and a lover, and for the life of her she did not know which was which.
“I am,” the Enchanter admitted. “I’m sorry, Melody.”
“How could you?” she screamed, then turned on the king, her words scathing and scalding hot. “How could both of you? What if… what if…?”
“What if you are pregnant?” the king laughed. “Darling, you are pregnant, there is no doubt. That was the whole point of this maze. By who, though, we are unsure. We are just as much guinea pigs as you are.”
“You willingly fucked me!” she screeched. “You are not guinea pigs when you would do such things to your own daughter, to a girl you raised, to me. How could you do this to me? I do not want to be pregnant. I will lose it. I’ll take some awful potion by some half-witted witch and I will make sure I lose this child.”
The Enchanter stepped up to Melody and dropped a hand in front of her eyes and she instantly calmed down. Her whole body went slack and relaxed and she fell to the floor, her mind blank. “I’m sorry, Melody,” he apologized again, “I just can not have you doing anything foolish. When you leave this place and re-enter the Maze you will forget all that you have learned. The only thing you will remember is a handsome man coming to you and making love to you, and it is that handsome man that you will believe is the father of your baby when it grows further in your stomach. Do you understand?” She nodded weakly.
“Send her on her way,” the king insisted, waving his hand over her. “We’ve done what needs to be done.”
“You truly are cold, aren’t you?” the Enchanter asked unkindly.
“The child was all that mattered,” the king laughed. “And one day when I return to her bed she will remember the rape and against I will bind her to the posts and rape her until she is out of her mind.”
The Enchanter lifted her from the floor and she stood. He led her to the door and pushed her through the door, turning to the king with a cruel scowl. “You may not remember this, but just because she is my daughter does not mean I’m in love.”
“That’s sick,” the king snapped.
“Oh right.” The Enchanter closed the door behind the princess, who would move through the corridors without a thought in her head until she was out in the light, “I forgot, it is immoral to fuck your daughter, but to rape a girl who thought she was your daughter is so much better.”
“It better be mind, who wants a twisted freak as a son?”
“That’s why it should be mine.”
