Chapter Twenty-Six

I was alive. I was breathing. My heart was beating. Those are probably not good thoughts to have when you first wake up, but I was definitely having them.

Someone was whispering spells over my body, but I hadn’t opened my eyes to see who it was, afraid that whatever had hit me was healing me to use me for something worse than what they had done to me in the first place.

I opened my eyes against my will and found beautiful gold streaked green eyes staring down at me. The golden brown hair that framed the overly handsome face was slightly curly and looked soft to the touch. It took my breath away as I thought about that hair caressing my bare body.

“Your majesty! Thank the Goddess! We were so worried about you. We’ve never had a demon attack inside the Mounds before. We thought for sure that you were a goner.” The voice sounded familiar.

“Raiden.” My voice was soft, like I had been strangled, as I recognized his voice. I touched my neck, flinching at the pain there. “What happened?”

“Something started to strangle you, your highness. We used all the faeries spells we knew to get it away, but it was a little witch magick that kept it at bay.” Raiden seemed to blush slightly and I knew with that blush that his magick had been the magick I had felt while unconscious.

“Alexia. Call me Alexia.” I moved to sit up and nearly fell over, his arms around me the only thing keeping me up. I flinched as his hand touched my bare back and I moved away from him quickly, not quite understanding what I was feeling at his touch.

“Are you alright, your …. Alexia?” He spoke my name like it was something unusual for him to say another royal’s name. And maybe it was, but I didn’t want any your majesty’s while I was trying to recover.

“I’m fine, Raiden. What did you say about a demon attack?” I was so confused about what was going on right now, I had to focus on business.

“Melodux appeared and threw you into the bed. He started to strangle you. I barely made it to you in time. I am glad that I did.”

Seeing his face this near mine without his armor made my heart leap in anticipation, though anticipation of what, I still wasn’t sure. I didn’t know if I wanted to know exactly what it was at this moment.

“He’s gone now, right?”

“Yes, Alexia, he’s gone. We’ve put up all the protection spells, both faerie and witch, that we could get our hands on. There’s no way he will be able to get back in here.”

I nodded and looked up to find the other guards standing around the room, looking around to make sure there were no gaps in the power. I sighed and moved to get off the bed, again falling into Raiden’s arms. I sighed and stayed there for a moment, letting what I felt when he touched me fill my body. I knew in that moment that he was my faerie Consort.

I groaned and moved away from him, falling back against the bed, but shrugging him away from me. “Get rid of the guards, please, Raiden. I want you to stay though, we need to talk.”

Raiden gave me a look but told the other guards to head out, two guards on each entrance to the Mound at a time. He seemed to think about it and then made sure that there were two guards on my door at all times. They exited without a word and left me alone in the room with Raiden.

“What do you wish of me, my queen?”

“Please, Raiden, with the things going on in my head right now, if you call me your queen again, I’m going to spaz.” I laid my hand on my head and leaned back against the headboard, trying to breathe.

“Why have you asked me to stay, Alexia?” He seemed as confused as I was about why I had asked him to stay.

I opened my eyes and shook my head, moving to get out of the bed. I stood and grew dizzy, falling almost instantly. His arms were around me before I could hit the floor and I was suddenly staring into his startling gold-green eyes from inches away.

There is a moment when you’re that close to a man that you know what he’s thinking. I could see that feeling of knowing in his eyes that I felt every time he touched me. I felt his fingers against my skin as if they were on fire, burning every inch of me with passion and longing.

I wanted to pull away, but couldn’t. It was like watching a car accident, you knew that it was wrong, but you watched anyway. I wanted to just be left alone in the room and sit there to contemplate what I was going to do about him, but with him this close, I couldn’t open my mouth to tell him to leave.

We stood that way for what felt like eternity before my lips found his and I was kissing him, hard and long, hands moving up his armor to wrap around his neck. His hair brushed against my hands and the only thing I could think was that it was as soft as I had originally thought.

I pulled back and shoved him away, falling hard against the wall behind the bed. “No, no, no, no, no.”

“What’s going on, Alexia?” Now he could say my name without stuttering.

“I don’t know.” I moved to get up and fell back again, shaking my head and holding my hands out as he tried to come near me. “Don’t. Stay back. If you touch me, it’s over.”

“What’s over? I don’t know what’s going on, and it’s really starting to freak me out.”

“Do faeries use words like ‘freak out’? I thought you were all more ‘your words are beginning to cause me great mental distress’.”

“Don’t avoid the question. What’s going on?”

I felt something low in my body clench at the commanding tone in his voice and moaned softly. It was way too soon after my time on the throne for this. Why couldn’t this have waited a few days? Given me some time to get myself together? But no, magick wasn’t like that. It didn’t give rest breaks.

“God, don’t do that, Raiden.”

“Do what?! You haven’t answered a damned thing I’ve asked. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, your highness, but you’re starting to fucking piss me off.” Raiden’s anger radiated off him in waves, and I felt it in every pore of my body.

I shook my head, moving slowly up the wall. I looked up at him, but he wasn’t looking at me. He was looking at his own feet, anger still plain on his face and body language. “Look at me, Raiden.” He didn’t move. “That’s a command.” He looked at me and I saw that same urge in his eyes. “What thoughts run through your head when you look at me? Be completely honest.”

Raiden stared at me for a moment and then shook his head. “I won’t say it aloud.”

“What if I were to command you?”

“Then I have no choice but to answer.” He looked almost sad at the thought, but I had to know.

“I command you to tell me what thoughts run through your mind when you look at me.”

Raiden looked at me, but he was still angry. He started to pace, hands in his pockets as if he were afraid that he would do what he was talking about. “I want to run my hands all over your body and feel the texture of you skin under my skin, to know if it’s as soft as it looks. I want to feel your hair over my bare body as you ride me. I want to pin you to the bed and plow myself in and out of you until you scream my name in pure ecstasy.”

He stopped pacing, his back to me. I knew without looking that he was trying to hide his facial expressions from me. He didn’t want me to see that what he was thinking was something he would love to be able to fulfill. Hell, I was glad he wasn’t looking at me because I knew my face said I wanted him to do it all to me.

“Fuck this.” I threw my hand out and his body went stiff. I pulled my hand to my chest and he flew across the room, his body nearly colliding with mine. “Sorry, but I’m about to fall over and I have no control of my powers when I’m weak like this.”

“Why? After all I just told you, why?”

I smiled and grabbed the front of his armor, pulling him down to me. “I’m about to fall to the ground, more than likely to faint. I don’t really want that to happen. I command you to stay with me until I wake again.”

“Yes, your highness.”

“Don’t call me …” I felt the world spin and passed out, only feeling his arms around me in the brief moment before all conscious was lost.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I sat bolt upright, screaming, and felt arms holding me down. I didn’t recognize the scent, but I knew that the arms were male. The voice was soothing and not English in language. I recognized some of the Fey language, but hadn’t known it long enough to practice it myself.

I sighed and relaxed against those arms, though I knew that I probably shouldn’t have. It was at that moment that I realized that Raiden’s arms were the arms holding me.

The room was dark, so I couldn’t see his face, but I knew the sound of his voice and the urge I felt to touch him. I wasn’t going to ignore the urges this time. I was relaxed and rested, so I was going to do what I knew I should do.

My lips found his in the darkness and I felt his hesitate, but I wasn’t going to give him the time to hesitate. I moved quickly, straddling him on the bed, ripping his shirt open. I had a moment to wonder where his armor went, but if he had been here for a while, he would have removed it for comfort, right?

I kissed my way down his chest, undoing his pants as I did so. His hands grabbed my wrists and stopped me as my hands moved into the waistband of his pants. “Your highness, you do realize that this is Raiden, don’t you?”

I pulled my hands from his loose grip on my wrists and maneuvered his pants farther down his hips, revealing all of him to me. I flicked my tongue across the head of his erect penis and felt him shudder underneath me. “I know, Raiden. Did you think I did this for just anyone?”

Raiden paused for a moment, catching his breath before speaking. “Why me though? My family is twelfth in line, not second. Your Consort should be able to be next in line.”

“I don’t know, Raiden. The power calls to you, not others. You are the one the power calls to, so therefore you will be my Consort. Do you have a problem with that?” I moved my mouth back over the head of his throbbing member again and felt his shudder in my mouth.

“If you keep doing that, I don’t think I’ll have to have a problem with it.” His voice was raspy and lower that it had been earlier.

I grabbed one side of his pants and yanked as hard as I could, pulling them the remainder of the way off. I moved onto my knees so that I could pull the silky green dress over my head. I moved up his body, kissing my way up as I did. I met his lips and felt him respond to my lips, though he was still slightly hesitant.

I moved my hips and felt the smooth velvet of his erection rub against my opening. I bit his lip playfully as I moved my hips so that he entered me. The angle was sharper than anything I had experienced before, and I knew, from having him in my mouth, that he was almost too big for this position to be possible, but he had said earlier that he had wanted it this way.

I sat up, with him buried deep inside me, and pulled the braid out of my hair, letting my nearly knee length hair cascade around my body, rubbing against his skin. He shuddered under me and I gasped at the feeling of the shudder with his so deep inside me. “Gods, you can’t be doing that.”

I felt more than saw him smile in the dark, moving his hips slightly. I moaned before gasping as he rolled me, staying deep inside me, no small feat. He shoved hard inside me one time and I screamed, digging nails into his arms. “Maybe we should start from here, Alexia.”

I nodded, not knowing what else to do, as he pulled himself out of me, painfully slow. I felt his lips on mine and returned the kiss he was offering me as he plunged inside me, stealing my scream with his kiss. His hands explored my body like he had never been with a woman before and I found that every touch sent little jolts of pleasure through me. Between his hands and the hard, fast thrusting, I wasn’t going to last too much longer.

I ran my hands up his chest and found a few marks that shouldn’t be there, concentrating on those marks so that I could last a little while longer, I found that they were scars, as if something had stuck a knife through his chest. I leaned up a little and ran my tongue gently along the largest of the scars.

He shuddered under my tongue before shoving me gently back onto the bed. “If you do something like that again, I won’t be able to finish this.”

“I was thinking the same thing, Raiden.” I moved my legs to where I could use my feet for leverage, meeting each of his thrust with one of my own so that he was beating against my cervix hard enough that I knew I was going to hurt later, but for the moment, I was in total ecstasy.

I screamed as the orgasm washed over us and found that he was echoing me. I don’t know why, but I think that was something more than just some amazing sex. I didn’t have time to think about it as another orgasm washed over me as he gave a spasm deep inside me. My nails found his skin and I scratched down his arms, only barely noticing that I was leaving little leave impressions where my nails dug in.

He collapsed on top of me, being ever so careful as he pulled himself gently out of me. He lay beside me, looking down at me, and I didn’t know what he was staring at so hard. “What, Raiden?”

“I haven’t been with anyone in nearly a hundred years. Members of the Imperial Guard who belong to the other royal families are only allowed to touch someone if the King or Queen wishes it. Mike was never here to tell us if we were allowed to be with others.” He brushed my hair out of my face, leaning into me. I felt his soft curls on my face before his lips met mine. “I’m guessing that this means I’m allowed to at least be with you.”

I wrapped my hand around his head and pulled him into me, deepening the kiss. I pulled back and nodded. “Only me, Raiden. All others and you will be killed. The power will find me another Consort.”

“I am only yours, Alexia.” Something was wrong. He kissed me, but there was something there that hadn’t been there before. I don’t know why I hadn’t seen it until now, but with his words, I realized what was wrong.

I sat upright and started to mumble curses. I clapped and the torches around the room came on, leaving me in brilliant light looking at the extremely attractive man lying naked in the bed beside me. “Oh, Raiden.”

I leaned into him and kissed him again, but no! I had to stop. This was what was wrong. I pulled back from him and slipped out of the bed, pacing the floor in front of the bed and thinking back on all the memories I had received from Mike. I looked at Raiden and my heart leapt, proving to me that what I didn’t want to happen, had happened.

‘Kingston, Andreas, come to the Faerie Mounds immediately.’ I sent the mental message out and heard a distant response.

I grabbed the green dress off the floor and pulled it over my head, looking back at Raiden. “Get dressed. We have to meet some of my guests upstairs in a few minutes. I’m a little confused as to what’s going on, but I’m not liking what I think is going on.”

Raiden frowned, but nodded and went to throw his clothes on. I watched a thought cross his face and knew exactly what he was thinking. He had done something wrong. He thought I was angry with him.

I walked over to him as he moved to put his shirt back on, stopping him in the middle of the action. I leaned up and kissed him as best I could with the great height distance between us, obviously I hadn’t noticed before that he was nearly 6’4”. “You did nothing wrong, Raiden. This is all about me. I’m not angry with you by any means.”

“How did you …?”

“I didn’t read your mind, if that’s what you think. I can read your face.” Fear showed across his eyes and I nodded. “Now you get why I’m so upset. I’ve seen your face, what, twice? In the last few hours. I shouldn’t be able to know what you’re thinking. I have friends coming to help.”

I kissed him gently on the lips again before pulling away and letting him pull his shirt on before adding his armor on top of everything. He moved to put his helmet on and I put my hand on his. “No, I want it off. I want to be able to see your face. After we get this all sorted out, you won’t need your armor anyway.”

“What do you mean?” Raiden set the helmet down and walked to the door, stopping and turning to look at me with his hand on the handle.

“If you are truly my Consort, you are to be my King, in a sense. You will have no power over the people unless I say so, but you will always be at my side. You don’t need armor to do that.” I ran my hand along his arm, knowing that I needed to stop, but not wanting to. “Open the door and let’s head to the surface before something happens.”

He nodded and pulled the door open, walking heside my up the long hallways toward the entrance to the Faerie Mounds. I could feel Kingston and Andreas standing outside, but I didn’t know what I would say to them. How do you tell the man that you gave your heart to that the magick made you fall in love with another? Can you even explain that? And Andreas … how was I going to explain to him that there was a chance that we would have to intimate again to keep my powerbase normal? Here goes everything.
