Chapter 26
“Tell me what happened,” Mr. Evans said quietly when he had finished administering antibiotic onto Minako’s wounds. He purposefully did not move between her legs, where her underwear was now righted again but she was clenching the trembling thighs cautiously. She only stared down at the nurse’s bed she laid upon, brought to the nurse’s station in the school. Her face was flushed with embarrassment and fury, though Mr. Evans only saw the embarrassment of it all.
“They… they were mad at me because of my relationship with Nemesis,” Minako sniffed, hesitating slightly for dramatic effect. Outside of the nurse’s office Nemesis, Sage, and Belle were listening in as quietly as they could manage. Considering the three were never known for being quiet, though secretive they were good at, Minako was sure that Mr. Evans would see them there. Knowing they were there only flamed her cheeks further. She had planned this, she had made this decision, and still she blamed them, all three of them. She had come dangerously close to receiving more than she had bargained for and still they had stood at their window watching. Her fists clenched and unclenched in the blanket. Mr. Evans took this as anxiety, which it may have been, but not towards what he believed.
“Go on, Mina,” Mr. Evans said patiently, running a hand through her golden hair. She sighed and nodded to him, fighting back false tears that were heating up behind her eyes.
“One of the girls caught me on the roof with Sage.” At Mr. Evans’ shocked expression she hurried on before he could speak. “It was not what you think, he was… he had taken our friendship too far.”
“So Sage was forcing himself on you?” Mr. Evans said for her.
Minako’s eyes flickered to the door and she conspiratorially lowered her voice. “Sort of, yes, but no.” She shook her head, pretending to be confused. “I was too shocked to react. He did not rape me, if you were thinking that, I just… did not want to be there.
“Well,” Minako hurried on before Mr. Evans could continued his line of questioning, “the girls saw me with Sage and were furious. I already have Nemesis, why should I have Sage too. Plus, he’s Belle’s boyfriend, so…”
“Belle has a boyfriend…” Mr. Evans said quietly. Minako looked up at him, her shame and humiliation quickly gone for the few seconds it took her to look him over. Mr. Evans waved that off with a shrug of his shoulders and an amended, “I always thought Belle was into girls,” he admitted.
Out in the hallway Belle was very shocked at the direction the conversation was going. Sage was slowly boiling, he had heard what Minako had said, and Nemesis’s jealousy was working up once again. This plan, so far, was backfiring more than it was going according to plan. All three, and perhaps even Minako, were ready to call it off and think again of something different.
Sticking to the plan became a mutual decision in the next couple of minutes.
“Mr. Evans, I think she does really like girls,” Minako said. “I’m stuck in this horrid circle with the three of them and I do not know how to escape.” All of this was said with a grain of truth that the Dark Trio recognized. “I want… I only did it… because I can’t…” Minako fell silent, sobbing into her hands. Mr. Evans reached for her, taking her hand into his own, rubbing circles over sensitive skin, then Minako made the move they did not expect. She pulled her hands away, from him, from her face, and looked up at him with shimmering light blue eyes that were filled with tears, and love. “I love only you, Thomas Evans,” she said quietly, whispering the words of love that she was suddenly brave enough to say, even when it was supposed to now be a lie. “I thought since I could not have you what did it matter who I was with, but even now, no, especially now, I can only think of you.”
Mr. Evans reacted in a way that none of them expected. He pulled Minako too him and ravished her lips with his. They expected the proper teacher to move away from her, to tell her it was wrong, that he was now in love with Fatima, but instead he kissed Minako with a ferociousness that was unexpected of the disciplined teacher.
Minako clung to him with a need that had been boiling from the beginning. All of her affairs, her liaisons, her indiscretions, were melting away as she held on for dear life and rode the waves of erotic need that came from this man before her. Thomas Evans gripped her golden hair, pulling her head back, bending her towards the nurse’s bed once more, her body forced to arch towards his. In just a few moments he was on top of her, pressed against her, the hard erection pressing into her leg. She did not fight, only gave herself over to this feeling.
Worried for the ruination of their plan Sage cleared his throat and made a show of coming down the hall, even if he was right outside the door. By the time he entered the room, Nemesis right behind him, Minako was sitting primly on the bed, Mr. Evans looking towards the door a little flushed, but normal. They both looked tremendously guilty. Nemesis walked over to his girlfriend and wrapped his arms around her.
“I heard what happened,” he made a show of telling her. “Are you all right?”
“How did you hear?” Mr. Evans, ever suspicious of the Rose offspring, was watching Nemesis with eyes that were more calculating than the teenagers would eve have guessed.
“Girls can’t keep their mouths shut,” Nemesis snarled. When Minako glared at him he ran a hand through her mussed golden strands, placing it delicately behind her ear. “All but you, my sweet. What can I do for you? What will make you more comfortable?”
“To leave,” she said quietly. Her heart thudded hard in her ribs. It was absolutely the truth. She could not stand another minute of reflection in a room filled with her lovers. Did Thomas now count as one, or had it been a mistake? She could not stand for him to corner her tomorrow and tell her it was mistake, that he never should have kissed her.
Nemesis helped Minako from the bed and turned to Mr. Evans, the perfect specimen of decorum. “Thank you Mr. Evans for helping her,” he said with an undercurrent of callous feeling that had Mr. Evans shuddering. “See you at school on Monday.”
Nemesis and Sage walked out of the room, down the halls, and into the courtyard in absolute silence. Mr. Evans had forgotten to even ask Minako what types of repercussions she wished upon the girls, did she wish to turn them in or let them go? Was he so wrapped up in the feel of her kiss that he had forgotten the incident, or was he embarrassed at being confronted, and possibly caught, leaning his student into the bed and ready to do what the girls had done with her but with something much more real.
“Kind of let yourself get carried away there, didn’t you?” Sage snapped at Minako as they grew closer to the dorms.
“I thought the point was-”
“-to leave him wanting more,” Sage snapped. “Not to give yourself over to him in the middle of a perfect plan. I wonder if we should just scrap the whole thing.”
“No,” Minako stated, a little too firmly. “No, we are following through with this plan.” Her voice quieted but the turmoil inside of her was growing. “We finish our plan and we will see this all of the way through. I promised.”
“I don’t like how close you are to him,” Nemesis said, pulling Minako close to him and holding her like a lover. Minako suddenly felt that beginning desire to escape, the desire she had felt to run from him in the very beginning, before all of this had boiled to a head.
“You were the one who planted me in this position,” Minako snapped. “Don’t back out now when this was all entirely you three’s idea. Speaking of, where is Belle?”
“’Belle’ didn’t feel like sticking around to watch you play tonsil hockey with that wonderful teacher of ours,” Sage snapped.
“Who says that anymore?” Minako snapped. She could not have been more grateful to see her dormitory building in sight. “I mean, seriously, Sage, if you don’t like me kissing him maybe we should just pull the whole plan.”
“I honestly think you are going to fuck this up,” Sage snapped at her and then turned to walk away. He did not offer her a rebuttal, he did not offer her even a huff in his direction, he offered her his back as he stomped off. Minako turned to Nemesis, hoping for him to be on her side, but she should know better. Nemesis’s constant jealousy was always taking the better of him.
“What do you want from me?” she asked of him when he offered her no words, no encouragement, nothing.
“I want you to not screw this up,” Nemesis admitted. “You were chosen for a reason and I’m beginning to think we were wrong.”
“I thought I was chosen because of your father’s lusts,” Minako snapped.
Nemesis shook his head and gave off a bitter laugh. “You are more naïve than I ever imagined,” he said flatly. The lack of emotion was not like him, he was usually full of his jealous rage. Now he looked to her with a callousness she never knew existed. “Minako, you do not seem to know how much of a pawn you really are.”
“Why are you telling me that?” she asked in exasperated tones.
Nemesis shrugged. “Possibly because I’m tired of this, or because I’m lying to you to push you away. I don’t know, I guess it is up to you to figure out what is really going on.”
Minako watched him walk away. Her head spun with too many details in her mind. She was unable to concentrate, her head swirling with thoughts and lies and ideas. She was becoming the corruption of a politician’s daughter, she was becoming everything she had despised in her parents and their friends. The lies, the abuse, the need to use and think that the world revolved around them. She was now apart of it, she had stepped knee deep into it and was sinking.
Was she a pawn, being used from the beginning? Of course she was, she knew that all along. They have never lied about why they were using her or what their intentions were. Yet, she knew there was more to the story, more to what was going on behind the scenes. Sage, why was he involved? He did not seem like a good enough friend to just help commit some horrible scandal if there was not something in it for him. What was in it for him?
Minako walked up to her dorm more confused and frustrated than she had already been earlier that day… and unfortunately that had been pretty confused.
