Chapter 24.
When Skif stumbled back into his hut, he was plastered. He had never been so drunk in his life. The only reason he had managed to make it that far was because Kandir had showed up to help him walk and find his way back. The orcs were still going at it when they left, including most of the children. Skif had asked what had happened to Llyr earlier and the elf told him that Kieran seemed to be having trouble with his licker.
Skif succeeded in falling into his own bed as he giggled like a fool at a dragon being an easy drunk. ‘Perhaps I just need to drink him under the table if ever thinks of sleeping with me.’ With that silly thought, he slipped off to sleep.
**********************************************************************************
In the morning, his hangover mad him wish he never work up. No one disturbed him this time which was just as well he did not feel like seeing anyone either. It was late afternoon before he stuck his out at all.
The only one about were the human slaves. Several of them looked much worse the wear this morning, no doubt victim s of the orc drinking. They were wondering about picking up abandon dishes and forgotten clothing. The humans gave him dirty looks but left him alone, blatantly ignoring him if he tried to speak to them.
Skif tried to clear his head with some water. He would have liked some tea but he did not know where to get the stuff he needs to start a fire. He wanders over to Kandir hut to ask him but the elf gust groaned and told him to come back tomorrow. When he to go back to sleep, the thundering snoring of the sleeping orc village made that seem nearly impossible. Somehow, he managed.
He was not sure what woke him but the hole in the roof showed him that night. It did not offer enough to make out light to see by. He knew someone was their but he could not make out who. “Kandir is that you?”
“So the little slut has moved whoring himself out to that god forsaken elf too?”
Before He had a chance to scream, the intruder was on him, punched him in the stomach. The blow not only made him double over but it also stole his breath. His attacked did not give him a chance to recover before he started raining down insults along with more blows.
“What an evil little slut you have turned out be. A dragon dick was not enough for you; you need an entire orc village to relieve your whoring ways. That was a least understandable but for someone as perverse as you. However, that was not enough you had to betray not only your lord and master all of humankind. I will kill you for that be most assured of that but before you die. I exact from you every hit, every perverted act that me and the others have been force to endure at hands of these unholy creatures.”
Skif tried to fight back even managed break free by knocking Sir Erik’s feet out from under him, allowing him to bolt for the entrance. His foot was grabbed as he ran past causing to trip forward as well. His hand knocked against his bag. As he kicks at hand holding he hands searched for his knife he kept in there. He just managed to get his hands on it when Erik was on him again stranding his hips.
He desperately stabbed at his attacker he felt the blade slide into flesh as Erik screamed. Rather than backing off, Erik’s backed hand him across the face as he nails dug into his hand ripping it away the knife still embed in the flesh.
Either the moon had moved or his eyes had adjusted to the lack of light because he could make out Sir Erik sitting on him, the knife lodged in his shoulder. He watched in Horror as the knight ripped it out on his own with another scream.
“What a naughty little squire you turned out to be. I had really hoped really should have taught you better. A squire should never attack his master... anything else he might have said was drowned out by Skif own scream as the Knife was now plunged into his own shoulder.
Repeatedly the knight descended on him he tried to block the blows but them only sliced throw his hands. Eventually one got through then another and another. He eventually found it hard to breathe his lungs felt like they were filling with liquid. He was drowning. He kept trying to fight back but his vision started to go black.
He knew this was it. He would was dying at Sir Erik hands as he always suspected he would just not quite like this. The last thing he would see is Sir Erik insane face as he plunge his own knife into him.
He could already hear the roar of death approaching from behind Erik, as he blacked out his last thought was of Llyr. ‘Sorry....’

Kieran roared as he slashed his way into the hut Skif had been staying in. The first thing he saw was his little one trapped under Sir Erik as blood flowed out of tinny chest. He struck without thinking. He grabbed the startled human who had killed his mate. He used his talons fingers to rip his head off before he had a chance to react. He kept ripping the lifeless body apart until there was nothing left bigger than a pea. He would have burned bits up but he was distracted by Kandir yelling.
“If you are finished with that, I could really use your help here. I’m losing him.”
He spun around to see the elf desperately trying to nit the flesh of Skif chest back together. Kieran was struck dumb. He was so sure that his mate was dead when he saw him under the human there was just no way could a human survive with that many knife wound and losing that much blood. He watches Skif chest raised and fell slightly, elation filled him. He fell to his knees and reacted out to pull his poor mate to his chest.
Kandir knocked his hands away before he could touch him. “Don’t! It taking every ounce of my magic to just hold him in this world. Do you know any healing magic?”
Shocked, Kieran was unable to speak at first. “I don’t know any healing magic... dragons rarely need them and their carrier heal so quickly...”
“Well, his healing abilities could not possible handle this.” Kandir grumbled as he focused hard on Skif. “Do you at least know how to channel?”
He thought for a second before nearly deafen the elf with his answer. “Yes!”
“With me or with Skif?”
“Ummm... Either I guess.” He was unsure what the elf was asking.
“Okay. I know it hard but I am trying to reopen that link again. When I do, you are going to send you magical energy across your mating bond. That should hold him here and allow me to start to heal some of this. Be ready. You need to act as soon as you feel it. I can’t hold it open to long and keep him alive.”
“Okay I got it. Ready.” The moment he said that, he felt again, Skif, one with him. He was filled with joy he almost got lost on it, but when started to feel Skif start to slip from him again he grabbed the bond and began pouring his magic into it. The spark that was Skif returned some but he still felt weak.
He could also feel Kandir working on to close the wounds. The wounds themselves hurt worse as the flesh closed then they did open. Skif was screaming across the link, he was trying to rip himself away from the pain and Kieran holding him there. He lashed out a Kieran but Kieran just held him closer, pouring more and more magic across the bond. He sent several please as well. ‘I’m here Skif... I know it hurts but stay with me please.... Stay with me little one...’
Kieran wasn’t sure how long they had been at it before it finally felt like there were getting somewhere. He was not sure he had anything left to give. He was even afraid his hold on the bond was starting to slip when Kandir pulled his own magic back. He freaked Trying desperately get him back, he could still feel the wounds, he couldn’t let Skif die.
“It okay... Kieran... he is safe... he will live.” Kandir was sitting back away from Skif. He was panting and looked just as worn as Kieran felt.
He desperately looked at his little mate relieved to see his breathing had improved. Most of the wounds were partly closed, and in various stages of healing. Kieran was relieved, and in joy, he inadvertently let the bond go. He tried to grab it back but he no energy left. “No!”
“Let it go. Holding it open keeps him slightly awake. Moreover, he is still in so much pain. It is better if he is unconscious for now.” Kieran could not deign that some of the tension seemed too easy from Skif face.
An orc picked Skif up, taking him away. Kieran growled and lunged forward. However, Kandir push him back. “They are just taking him to my hut to take care of him. We took care of the life threatening wounds but he still needs to be patch up. Come we must go as well. You will be collapsing yourself soon having drained yourself of all you magic. If Skif should wake up will want you there.
Kieran managed to make it to Kandir hut unassisted, despite taking far longer than it should have. He passes an orc whom he had been introduced the night before as the village’s healer, coming out of Kandir hut. This hut was larger than Skif had been staying it had a main rooming and two other side rooms divided by currents. Kandir directed him to the one on the left.
When he entered, he saw Skif lay still as death in a pile of furs. He had been cleaned up and bandages up his arms chest.
Kieran would have climbed in right next to him if Kandir had not followed him in placing a bucket of water and a rag. “You might want to clean up a bit. I will have Skif stuff brought here and clothes for you both. If you need anything I will be in the next room.”
It was then that he noticed that he was covered in blood. He quickly washed up before placing the bucket with red water outside the room before climbing in bed next to Skif.
Skif felt so cold and fragile. Kieran pulled him closer to his chest; mindful of the wounds before pulling a fur over both of them He nuzzled into Skif neck allowing the scent to allow the bleed the residual anger out of him.
Everything in him said he should hunt down the rest of the knights and rip them to shreds too. Just be sure they do not ever come in contact without Skif. No one knew did not know that devil got out. Kandir had promised he would personal see that the others could escape. The only reason he let the elf have his way was that his urge to protect Skif would not let him leave his sleeping mate.
This was not the way he pictured his first night in bed with his mate would go.
