Bless The Child

:::::::::::::::

Seth was sitting quietly in a corner. Sonny was, well frankly Sonny was PISSED, and Seth wanted no part of it. Sonny kicked the side of their bunk and cursed loudly. “Fucker!”

Seth shivered at the anger in his others voice. Sonny could truly be dangerous when he became so angry, but right now he was more concerned about the source of that anger than he was about the consequences.

Sonny kept throwing things around the room, as Seth sat back and patiently waited for his other to calm down enough to talk. Finally Sonny collapsed down on their bunk. Even though he was still cursing a blue streak, at least he was coherent enough that Seth thought they might be able to discuss what had happened.

“Sonny......” Seth said hesitantly. “Are you okay?”

Sonny dropped his head into his hands. Seth cautiously approached him.

“Sonny?”

“What?” It was said miserably, the sound almost a sob.

“Sonny...” Seth moved closer. “Sonny you don’t actually believe what Malone said do you?”

Sonny raised his head and exhaled loudly. “You don’t?”

There was no response forthcoming from his other, but the very absence of a reply was more than answer enough. Finally, Seth shook his head. No wonder Sonny was so upset.

People can tell all sorts of lies about you, and occasionally, a lie may even hurt you, but nothing; ABSOLUTELY NOTHING scalds and burns like the unvarnished truth.

“I-I think that it doesn’t have to be true.” Seth said hesitantly. “I think its up to us.”

Sonny chuckled, and it came out a choked raspy sound. “Since when has anything ever been up to us Seth?”

Seth squared his shoulders and lifted his chin stubbornly. “As of right now.”

Sonny looked at his other with a small trace of amusement dancing in his blue eyes. “Just like that huh?”

“Yes.” Seth nodded. “Just like that. We deserve to have a life too Sonny. A good life that doesn’t include people like Malone in it.”

Sonny stared down at his hands. His mind turned over what Seth was saying, and also what they had been through together. The awful things that they had had to do just to survive. “I’m not too sure that we deserve anything.” He said softly.

Seth was incensed. “We deserve that and more.” He nearly shouted. “We’ve never hurt anyone that didn’t deserve it! We’ve done our jobs! We’ve taken care of the child, and now we deserve...”

He knew it was the wrong thing to say as soon as the words crossed his lips. Suddenly he had Sonny in his face screaming. “Don’t you dare speak of him!”

Sonny was shaking with barely repressed fury. “Never speak of him again!” He snarled. “Not now! Not ever!”
Seth stared wide eyed at his other. Even knowing what he was capable of, it was a very rare occasion that he actually found himself afraid of Sonny. He was trembling as he gently pushed Sonny away from him. “I-I’m sorry.” He whispered. “I wont. Not ever again.”

Seth could see tears welling up in Sonny’s eyes as he slowly backed away. He felt an prickle in his own as they stared at each other in shock. It had always been a strict rule between them, and neither of them had ever broken it before. They never spoke of the child. They had simply and quietly took turns keeping watch over his sleeping form for the past twelve years.

The child had fallen asleep on the day that Seth and Sonny had first come into being. He had never really stirred again. It had been a horrible, horrible day filled with abuse, both sexual and physical at the hands of the boys parents and many others until finally, it had simply become unbearable for the four year old child. The shut down, when it had come; was absolute. Seth and Sonny had watched over the slumbering little boy from that time on, never faltering and never mentioning the fact that he was even there.

“I swear it Sonny.” Seth felt the tears escape to roll down his cheeks. “I will never speak of him again.”

Sonny nodded, choking back his own tears.

Thomas “Blood” Vane cursed his own stupidity underneath his breath as he slowly walked back towards the cell he shared with Seth Edwards. How could he have done something so dumb?

All along Blood had known that Micky was in love with him. He had tried to keep a respectful distance between them, and not get his best friends hopes up that those feelings would be reciprocated. He had felt that it would be cruel to do otherwise.

However, all it had taken was seeing Micky slobber on Seth, and all of his principles had flown right out the window; taking his common sense right along with it and now... Oh God now... Blood cringed inside as he remembered the look of pure adoration on Micky's face as they had left the closet.

He didn’t want to hurt Micky. He did love him as a friend. Blood knew very well though, that he was about as far from being in love with Micky as a person can be with someone, without actually hating that person.

The feelings just weren’t there, and he strongly suspected that they never would be. Now Micky would be expecting more of him. He would be expecting them to be a couple, and truthfully he had every right to.

Blood groaned, and raked a hand through his thick, curly black hair. It was all his own fault and he knew it. Listening to his cock instead of his brain was definitely not a smart idea.

Still, he had to wonder. How had he managed to get in so much trouble with so little effort?

Vane sighed as he crossed the threshold to his cell. Apparently, it was just a gift.

Luke Miles tried to keep a straight face as he ambled along the corridor that led to the cell he shared with Roddy Malone. It wasn’t as easy as it sounded. Underneath his shirt he had papers stuffed where no one could see them. The papers rubbed and tickled his belly constantly as he walked.

He sighed with relief as he stepped into his cell, and motioned to Malone to get rid of his company. The tall redhead immediately did. Roddy had been watching as the Wickersham twins gave him a little sex show, but at his gruff order to get out they petulantly dressed; and quickly removed themselves from the premises.

“So.” Roddy said as he leaned back against his bunk. “What have you got for me?”

Luke grinned as he removed the small stack of papers, about eight in all; from underneath his shirt and handed them to Roddy.

His boss immediately sat up and took the papers. He rifled through them with interest. “This was all you could get out of his file?” Roddy said peevishly.

Luke shrugged. He was used to Malone’s moodiness. “I told you,” He said. “Ill have to bring it to you a little at a time or my Dad will notice.”

Roddy scowled. He hated not getting his way. “How long can I keep these?”

“He wont miss them before tomorrow.” Luke smirked. “Then Ill replace these, and bring you the next bunch.”

Malone nodded, already intensely studying the sheets he had. Near the bottom of the stack he found a picture of what looked like a pre-school Seth Edwards being forced to suck off an old man. “Jesus Christ!” Roddy spat in disgust. Bastard he might be, but there were some things even he wouldn’t stoop to. “Sick fuckers!”

Luke nodded his agreement. “Is that all you need from me right now Boss?” He asked. “I thought I might ummmm...” He gestured towards the hidden hidey hole in the wall. They both knew that it was brimming over with a large assortment of illicit drugs.

“Go ahead.” Roddy murmured distractedly.

Luke moved towards the hiding place. Relieved to finally be getting his fix for the day.

“Wait a second.” Malone suddenly looked up at him. “How are you coming on that other thing I asked you to get for me?”

A slow wicked smile spread across Luke Miles face as he reached inside the hole in the wall, and extracted a small bag of heroin. “Oh, don’t worry about that Boss.” Luke assured him. “I have someone making the buy right now.” He expertly laid out a line of the precious white power, and inhaled it through a straw he had cut in half for just this purpose. A serene smile drifted across Luke’s face as the powerful drug hit his system. “I promise. It will be ready when you are.”
