A/N: I confused myself and almost miss counted the months. This would be about when Akira is starting to learn how to use psychic powers. Enjoy!

Rune groggily sat up. He rubbed his head and looked around. He was in a small room, with no windows only a door. Standing up he turned in a circle. He could feel the fear tighten in his chest and he whimpered. Where was he? What happened? How did he get here? All questions that he couldn’t answer.

“Keir…” His hand went to his neck and he found the silver whistle still there. He wouldn’t be able to hear it.


Keir coughed as he sat up. “Rune?” There was a trail of blood dripping down his head. Reaching up he wiped at his mouth and then cough again. “Fuck…” Pushing himself up, he stumbled. His body felt like someone tossed him into a human sized dryer and had set it to tumble. That’s when he remembered. His arctic blue eyes searched the alleyway for Rune. “Rune!”

His blood froze when he found Rune’s jacket on the ground. He walked over to it and picked it up. They had ambushed him and Rune.

“Keir!”

He could feel the bar collide with his head and the feet kicking him to the ground.

“Stop it!”

“Shut up!” There was a loud crash and then it grew quiet. “Knock him out and let’s get out of here.”

He tried to get up when it stopped, a cloth was pushed against his face and his vision went black.

Gripping the jacket he smirked. They had made the worst mistake.

A raccoon ran over to him and he knelt down. It was the one that was always with Zach. Rune wanted to take Ringo with him today. “I know I probably look stupid talking to you, but I need you to find Zach.”

It turned and ran off. Put his fingers together he placed them to his lips and made a high pitched whistle.

Looking through the jacket he found everything inside the pockets, except Rune’s cell. “Good I can find him now.”

A howl was heard and he turned around to see Lobo running up to him. The wolf skidded to a stop and looked at Keir. It whined and clawed at Keir’s leg.

“I’m fine.” He knelt down and held the jacket out to Lobo. “Find.”

After sniffing the jacket Lobo took off. Keir followed after him as he pulled out his cell phone. Pushing a few buttons he placed the phone to his ear as he ran. “What do you want now?”

“Track Rune’s phone.”

“Why?”

“He’s been taken.”

“I don’t know how to track cell phones that well.”

“Then get Jett.” He hung up the phone and Nina glared at her phone. She was going to skin him when he got home.

Quickly calling Jett she heard his voice. It was groggy, “‘ello…”

“Jett, I need your help.”

“With what?”

“Rune’s been taken.”

Keir felt his phone buzz and he picked it up. Lobo was running around the area trying to find Rune’s scent again. “Yes.”

“Do you know if he has his phone on him?”

“It’s not in his jacket and I’ve been calling it for the last five minutes.”

“Okay.” Jett sighed over the phone and he could hear the clicking from the key board. “I’m tracking it now. If we’re lucky it’ll still be on. Mitch can you get me some water!”

There was a shout and Jett started muttering. Then he heard Mitch, “Hello Keir. What’s going on?”

“Rune’s been taken.”

“Huh… how? Who? When?”

“Ambush, stupid idiots, and I don’t know how long ago. I was knocked out.”

“Damn it! Someone just turned his phone off!”

Mitch spoke up, “Try to pin point the last known signal.”

“Do you guys have two phones on?”

“Yes.” They had said it at the same time. Lobo howled and took off.

He quickly followed after him. “Send me the location when you find it.” Then he hung up.

Lobo whined again as he lost the scent once more. “You tried your best.” They were standing on the corner of a crowed street. The wolf looked up at him and pawed his leg. The phone buzzed again and he looked at it. On the screen was the last known area. “Come on Lobo. I’ll need that nose of yours.”

Rune paced the room, only a few minutes ago his phone was buzzing like crazy. He had pulled it out and them someone had come in to only snatch it from him. He tried to get it back, only he was knocked back out of the way. “Keir…” Putting the whistle in his mouth he blew air through it. His back leaned against the wall and he slid down onto the floor. ‘I’m scared.’

The door opened and another man walked in. He didn’t even acknowledge the guy till he was roughly pulled to his feet. “Come on. I want my cash.”

‘Cash?’

When they left the room he saw a window. It was wide open. He started to blow on the whistle. “Hurry up!”

The only window he saw was gone when they rounded the corner. But he didn’t stop with the whistle. They climbed down some stairs and then walked into a room. It wasn’t as small as the other one. He was shoved into a chair and then left there. A cloth was roughly tied over his eyes and his hands were tied together. Then the whistle was pulled from his mouth, or he tried to pull it from his mouth.

He had clamped down on it and then he pulled it all the way into his mouth. “Damn brat. Fine I’ll let them take it from you.”

‘Them.’ He was soon yanked back on his feet. The whistle slipped back out as he kept blowing on the piece of metal. ‘Keir, where are you!?’

The small male felt cold air surround him and then the warm heat from the sun. He could hear the animals talking. He was outside. Blowing into the whistle he hoped someone heard it.

‘Please!’

Keir stopped, it was faint and he turned his head. Just then Zach appeared in front of him in his animal form. He shifted and looked at Keir. “Where is he?”

“Quiet.” He closed his eyes and he heard Lobo whine. “Follow.” The wolf was running and he grabbed Zach’s arm and dragged him along. “I’m going to need your help.”

“Okay here he is.”

“Good.”

“My money?” There was a click and then the man let go of Rune. “Is that all of it?”

“Yes.” It grew quiet and Rune shifted on the spot. “What’s that in his mouth?”

“I don’t know. He won’t let go of it for nothing almost swallowed it.” He could hear paper being ruffled and then there was a loud snap. Rune flinched and stepped back when there was a thud.

“Now let’s get rid of that thing.” He stepped back when someone grabbed his arm and yelped when something jabbed into his arm. The hand left and there was a curse. “Get the hell off of me.”

There was a loud chattering sound and then the blind fold fell off. The bright sun made him squint but he could make out a raccoon and a squirrel. The man was dress in a black suite and Rune chose then to run. He jumped over a bush and kept running. As he ran he started to notice where he was at. It was an old abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. He ran into the building. ‘Phone. Phone!’

Rune stopped and looked around. “Which door?”

Walking he tried to remember how far they had walked before they left the building. He stopped and looked at the door. It was opened; he pushed it the rest of the way opened. There sitting on the table was a knife and his phone. He grinned and ran over to it.

Turning around he picked the knife up and slammed it point down into the table. Then leaning back he rubbed the ropes against the sharp edge. The rope fell from his arms and he quickly scooped his phone up. He ran out of the room and slid to a stop. Giving a sheepish grin as he saw the Sweepers face, he bolted down the hall.

The man gave chase.

Keir looked around the area. He walked over to the man on the ground. “Only one? There were move in the alley.”

“Maybe the buddies ran off.”

“Could be.” His eyes looked over the area. “Rune was here. Looks like he ran.”

“So did the guy with the money case.” On the ground was a load of money. “Poor guy wasn’t even legal money.”

“Hmmm.” The foot prints led off into the woods. He looked at them, “He’s running back the way he came. Why?”

The phone rang. “Help!”

“Rune.”

“Old building. Top floor.” A door slammed somewhere. “No make that roof.”

“Where?”

“Outskirts. Keir help! He’s got a gun.” There was a load bang and the phone went dead.

“I heard a gun.”

“We need to hurry.” They took off into the woods following the feet prints in the snow.

Rune yelped as his phone shattered. He turned around and saw the guy. “Come along quietly or I’ll just take your dead body with me.”

He stepped back and found himself on the edge of the roof. Glancing over he smiled, then he waved to the guy in the black suite. Jumping up on the ledge, bright purple eyes looked at him as he stepped back. “Bye bye.”

The Sweeper ran to the edge and found him gone. “Damn it!”

Then he got a really bad feeling. He turned around and found a tall male standing in the doorway. A smile that made his body freeze was on the male’s face.

Zach sat Rune on the ground and sighed. He was grinning, “That was fun let’s do it again.”

His form shifted and he wacked him over the head. “Damn it Rune, you scared me to death.”

“Sorry! Where’s Keir?” His brother picked him up and moved him further away from the building. “Zee, where is Keir?”

They both heard a scream and then there was a thud. Rune started to turn but his grip tightened. “I’m taking you home.”

Lobo barked and ran up to Rune. “Lobo.” He hugged the wolf and laughed as a wet tongue licked his face.

“Where’s Ringo?”

“He attacked that guy.” He looked at his brother and the male had a grim face. “What’s wrong?”

“Come back home with me.”

“What?”

“This isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last.” Zach hugged his brother. “You’re the only family I have left.”

“What do you mean? What about mom and…?”

“Their gone.” He tightened his grip on him. “They all up and left me in the middle of the night. Mom… dad… little Ray… gone.”

His brother held onto him. “Their gone?”

“Yeah.”

“It won’t be bad. Look at me.” Rune smiled. “We’re family no matter what; I bet everyone will love to have you back.”

“I can’t stay.”

“You're going to find them?”

“I want to.”

He pulled away and looked at him. “Do whatever you want.”

“I keep hoping you’d tell me not to leave.”

“Why, you want to go home, go home.” Taking a breath he then smiled. “My home is here. Where’s yours at?”

Before he could answer Keir quickly walked up and pulled Rune into a hug. “Rune.”

“You found me!”

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah.”

“You sure?”

“If it makes you feel better you can check when we get home.”

He gave a smile as he buried his face in his hair. “I’ll hold you to it.”

Zach smiled and he sighed. Ringo landed on his shoulder and made a sound. “Hush you.” The nameless squirrel was on its back. He looked at the two and then he realized he couldn’t take him away from here. His little brother was happier here being himself and with everyone he knew. Maybe he could stay for a little long. “Okay I’ve made up my mind.”

The two looked at him.

“I’m going to stay a little longer see if Lucy wants to help me out.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

Rune hugged him and grinned. “Yay, my brother is going to stay!”

Zach smirked as he looked at Keir, “I get to hang with Rune on the weekends.”

Keir looked at him and waved his hand. “It’s Rune’s decision not mine.”

The small male sighed as his body hit the bed. “You always come over here. Why don’t you just move in?”

“I’d do it if I could, but Kai needs someone to stay with him too.”

“Really.” Keir was sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Yes. Whenever I get paid for playing a gig I give half to Kai. He uses it to buy food and pay the bills.”

“Doesn’t he have a way to make money?”

“No. Most places won’t hire us because of what happened.” He looked at Keir. “Akira made money the underground way and through the help of some unknown people. Ransom is a runner. Lucy and Lucus are set because their father owns his own company. Mitch’s parents have a small shop and make lots of money that way too. Mike owns his own bar and club. Blair works at Mike’s bar. Sage and Kacy live with Kacy’s family and get help that way. I get paid to make music.” He stopped and looked at the ceiling. “But Kai and Zach are now jobless.”

“You worry about everyone don’t you?”

“Yeah.” He glanced at Keir and saw him smile. “What?”

“You have a big heart.” Keir smirked. “I wonder if there’s room for me in there.”

Rune sat up quickly. “What are you saying? There’ll all ways be room for you!”

He reached over and pulled Rune into a kiss, “I’m only teasing you. I know you like me, besides I’ll always love you.”

A blush spread across Rune’s face. “Keir…”

“Hmmm, cute.” The small male found himself on his back and Keir leaning over him.

“Hey… I have a gig tonight!” Keir smirked and kissed him as he pulled his small body closer to him.

“I’m holding you to your word. I haven’t made sure your okay.”

The door opened and Rune looked around the room. He was looking for something, the shower was running and he saw the door was cracked. Steam was floating out of the bathroom. ‘How hot are his showers?’

Slipping in, he quietly closed the door and snuck over to the bed. He was late yes, but the band wanted to celebrate. Someone had approached them and said that they liked their music. He grinned and pulled his shirt off.

Silver got piss drunk and it ended early because he needed to go home before he pissed off the wrong person. Harmony was going to handle all the legal stuff and Arius was driving everyone home. He had a few drinks had a nice buzz going on and his grin got bigger.

He really wanted to surprise Keir. Slipping under the covers he snuggled under the blankets. It was warm and he felt his eyes drift shut. They blinked open as he rolled over and he quickly scrambled back falling out of the bed. Looked over the edge of the bed he found no one there. ‘I could of sworn I saw something.’ He rubbed his head and climbed onto the bed. “No more drinking for you.”

Covering himself under the blanket he smiled and waited. The shower was still going and it was warm. His body slowly relaxed and he found his eye lids growing heavy. ‘Maybe he’ll wake you up. Then you can tell him.’ Rune’s eyes slid closed and he was asleep.

“Rune…” Maroon eyes blinked opened and he looked around.

‘Who called me?’ He looked over at the clock. ‘It’s been only an hour.’ The shower was off and he rolled over to find Keir laying with his back to him. Sitting up he rubbed his eyes and looked around.

“Rune…”

He tipped his head to the side and quietly slipped out of the bed. Someone was at the door; he padded over to it and pulled the door opened. But no one was there. There was movement to his left and he followed. “Hello.”

“Rune…” Red bled into his maroon eyes.

His feet padded on the ground as he walked. It was quiet in the large house. He stopped at the stairs that led up to the third floor. Only Dawn and Caden were allowed up there. He climbed the stairs. There was movement to his left and he looked down the hall. He followed. There was soft music playing as he walked further.

The small male tipped his head to the side and blinked. Something was standing there. They turned around and smiled. A hand was reaching out to him and he walked forward his hand reaching out. There was a loud snarl and the person vanished.

Zach’s claws clicked across the floor as he ran up to Rune. His eyes weren’t the normal color for him, the red bled out and purple eyes blinked. He looked around. “What’s going on?” His brother pulled on the back of his pants. Looking down his eyes widened, he was close to falling out the window. “Zee…”

He growled and pulled him back into the house. They both sat there and he looked at the small male. His form shifted, “I’m glad I stayed.”

“Sorry.”

“Rune?” He looked down the hall to see Keir. “You found him.”

“Yeah half way out the window.”

“What?”

“I don’t remember. I remember climbing into bed and then falling to sleep.”

“What are you doing up here?”

“Dad. Sorry but we were looking for Rune.”

“He was sleepwalking again.” Zach said as he pulled Rune up to his feet. “Come on back to bed with you.”

Caden watched as the two walked off. “Has he ever done that?”

Keir shook his head, “This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”

Rune and Zach got into Zach’s room and he grabbed his chin. “What are you doing?”

“Hold still.” He walked off and came back with a pen light. “Don’t move.” The light clicked on and he saw it. Around Rune’s pupil was a thin ring of red. “Damn.”

“What is it?”

“Nothing, I thought it was something but I was wrong.” He looked at the other eye and it was the same. ‘Damn it.’

“Zee…”

“What?”

“I keep hearing music.” The pen light turned off and he opened the door to the room. “Where are you going?”

“To Kai’s.” Right before he closed the door he growled out, “Go to bed.” He first needed to give Keir a heads up and then he’ll leave.

Rune stood there, ‘What’s going on?’
