Chapter Twenty-Four
I awoke early the next morning and slipped from Kingston’s arms, throwing clothes on and heading into the living room. I frowned when I realized that the living room was occupied by Matt and Gabe. Apparently, everyone had crashed here last night to make sure I was okay.
Sighing, I slipped out of the house, weapons on, and got in the Jeep, driving to the Faerie Mounds. I had to know, had to test to make sure that the marks on my back were truly royal marks. It wouldn’t really do for me to supposedly be the ruler of the Fey and not be able to get into the Mounds.
I drove through the city and into the country side beyond, making a pit stop at my office. I walked inside and realized that there was no one there yet. Glancing at the clock above the wall, I sighed. “Eight o’clock. Great.” All the faeries and dwarfs were very strict about being here right at the time they were told to be here, so I had about half an hour to wait. Maybe I could manage to get some work done before they got here.
I walked through the empty alls and entered the office I had set up for myself. It looked barren compared to the small office full of clutter that I had occupied at the main headquarters, but it had my computer and all my client files, so it would work for now.
I sat on at the large desk and turned the monitor on, letting it boot up. Leaning back, I tried to imagine like here without Mike. It was unimaginable, but I knew that it was going to be a reality.
I heard movement in the hall and glanced at the clock above the door. Apparently, I had sat staring at a blank computer screen for thirty minutes without noticing that people were arriving. They would fine me.
I opened a file on my computer and fell back in the chair as Melodux’s face came onto the screen. “You will be mine, Alexia Mooren. I have see your face and I will know your body. You will be mine.”
I pulled the power cord with my boot, but the face didn’t disappear. I screamed and the monitor burst into a pile of flames and glass.
Darvik and Alabastar were through the door first, both brandishing weapons. They took one look at their frightened, normally calm boss, and lowered their weapons. “What happened, Alexia?” Darcik walked over to me, laying a hand on my shoulder. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, Darvik. There was just a rather ominous message on my computer.”
“So you thought it best to blow it up?” Alabastar landed on the busted monitor and gave it a kick.
“It was a demon message. As in he was actually in the monitor. The only way to get rid of him was to neutralize his power with witch power.” I hated explaining demon and witch metaphysics to those who didn’t know anything about them.
“You did a good job, Lexi.” Alabastar flew to me and landed on my shoulder, wiping a stray blood tear from my face. “It really scared you, didn’t it?”
I leaned my head a little into his small hand. “Scared it too small a word, Alabastar.”
Someone was showing through the crowd that had congregated by the door. It didn’t take me long to find out who it was as he shouted my name. “Let him through, guys.”
Kingston burst through the door as soon as I spoke. His horns were visible on his head and his eyes were feral demon eyes, something he never used unless scared or really pissed off. I was hoping he was scared.
He walked over to me, dropping to his knees in front of the chair I was sitting in, scaring Alabastar off. He looked up at me with those demon eyes and I was frightened, wishing I could fly away like Alabastar had, but this was my problem.
He raised his hand to my face, almost like he was going to stroke it, but instead slapped me hard enough to draw blood. I turned back to him, hand on my cheek, blood dripping from the corner of my mouth, and felt my own vampyre answer to his demon. “Everyone out. Now! Don’t come back in here until I come out.”
“What makes you think you’ll be leaving this room, Alexia?” Kingston voice was lower than it should have been, deep and demonic.
“Everyone out!” I heard everyone move for the door and threw magickal blocks up to keep the door locked and everyone as far from this room as possible.
“You left me in the middle of the night without telling me, Alexia.”
“I didn’t think I needed to tell you where I was going all the time, Kingston.” I kicked up hard, connecting with his chest and sending him into the far wall. “That’s for slapping me.”
He stood and dove at me, taking me to the ground. I managed to get my knees between our chests and threw him off me, taking my jacket and guns off as he struggled to get up, tossing them into a corner. I didn’t know what was going on, but I wasn’t going to kill the man I loved over something stupid like this.
He came at me again and I moved, grabbing his shirt and causing him to fall back and land hard on his back, shirt in tatters around his body. He took the remainder of the shirt off and tossed it at me as a distraction as he moved, pinning me against a wall.
I could smell his blood just under the surface of his skin and used it to help me throw him off me, unwilling to take his blood unless I had no choice. He grabbed my shirt as I threw him and it ripped opening, revealing a rather lacy black bra, but that didn’t even seem to phase him.
He came at me again, but I turned just in time to be the one pinning him. I shoved him hard against the wall to rattle him a little before leaning into him, feeling the sex in the vampyre come out.
I moved toward him, kissing him hard. I moved my hand to his pants and yanked hard down the front of them, ripping them off. He stood naked before me, but he wasn’t excited in his anger. I could easily change that.
I whispered a bondage spell and kept him against the wall as I dropped to my knees. I flicked my tongue across his limp body and felt the response shudder through him. I did it again and he became fully aware of me.
I put my entire mouth over his swollen erection, looking up into his feral eyes and letting him see just what I could do to him if he didn’t stop with the fighting. I bit gently onto the head of the erection and he moaned.
Kissing my way up his body, I found his lips and kissed him as I released the spell that held him against the wall. I also whispered a spell that would remove the rest of my clothes, leaving me naked and ready in front of him.
He didn’t waste any time as he knocked the remainder of the broken glass from the computer monitor off the desk, laying me against it and entering in me hard and fast, over and over, his eyes still that anger demon they had been when he slapped me.
I felt the orgasm rising and knew that my only chance to make him become Kingston again was coming and I needed to make sure I hit it right on time. Digging my nails into his back, I pulled myself up so that I had a clear shot of his neck, biting down hard into his neck just as the orgasm burst over us and we fell to the floor.
I rode him to the ground, mouth still attached to his neck, with him still buried deep inside me. I felt his essence begin to leave and pulled away from him, smiling down at him as I ground my hips into his body. “Are you back, or do I have to continue to do this?”
“My gods, Alexia, what happened?” Kingston looked around in confusion as I continued to straddle his nude body.
“You got pissed, the demon took over, I fucked him into submission.” I shrugged as if it were nothing knew and moaned as I felt him grow hard inside me. “Obviously, the demon and you are two different beings.”
Kingston smiled and rolled me. “That we are. Since you’ve fucked the demon, why not have another go with the man? Play a little compare and contrast?”
I smiled as he pulled himself out of me, thrusting into me harder and faster than the demon had dared to. It was too soon and I came almost instantly, gasping on the floor, trying to breathe. He smiled, but didn’t stop, doing it over and over, bringing me with each thrust.
I screamed as he came inside me again, hearing everyone outside trying to fight their way through my barriers as I lay on the floor, surrounded by debris, bleeding and in complete ecstasy.
When I could move, I slapped Kingston and groaned. “I’m going to kill you for that.”
He moved over me and kissed me, hard and long, his hand moving down my body to play with my already tender parts. “You know you loved it.”
“I didn’t say that, but you’re going to die later.” I kissed him again, wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him to me. “I love you, Kingston.”
“I love you too, Alexia. I’m sorry I hit you. I just was so upset that you didn’t tell me where you were going.”
“I wanted to let you sleep. That and I needed a little alone time. You, Ian, and Andreas have been smothering me over the last couple of days.” I lay back and whispered a clothing spell for both myself and Kingston so that we weren’t lying naked on the floor.
I waved a hand and the door flew open, everyone was the office falling in with guns and knives trained on Kingston. “Leave him alone, guys. I fixed him.”
“You could say that again.” Kingston’s comment was rewarded with my face turning bright red as I hit him, hard.
“Asshole.”
“Yeah, but you love me.”
“Fuck you.”
“Didn’t we just do that? Twice?” Kingston laughed as I sat up and dove at him. He moved faster than he should have after what we just did before pulling me shakily to my feet. “You’re just so cute when you blush like that.”
“I don’t need to deal with you right now.” I moved to grab my jacket and weapons off chair when I heard everyone that stood in the doorway gasp. I turned around and found them all on their knees, heads bowed. “Did I miss something?”
“Your back, Alexia. You bear the symbol of the Fey Queen.” Titania, one of the more gun happy of the faeries I worked with, spoke up from the back of the crowd, her head down.
I looked down at my arms and sighed. I had forgotten about the marks, about Mike, and about my new position amongst the faeries since the Melodux message. I sat on the desk and looked at the fey that were assembled in my office and sighed. “Who wants to give your new queen a tour of the Faerie Mounds?”
Everyone looked up at me, shocked. “What do you mean, new queen? Where’s Mike?”
I couldn’t help the tears that came to my eyes I remembered just why I was their new queen. I looked down at my hands and spoke quietly, blood tears streaming down my face. “Mike passed away late last night. Before he passed, he passed his throne on to me. I am his blood heir, his daughter.”
I don’t know why, but I sat up straighter at the last announcement, more than glad of the fact that he had been my father. I looked around the room at the fey and they remained immobile looking at the ground, thinking about the news. Fear was evident on some faces, but most held a type of excitement.
“I’ll give you the tour.” Titania stood, though she didn’t look me in the eye. “I am at your service, your majesty.”
“Please, none of this ‘your majesty’ stuff. You’ve all known me for years. You know I don’t like special treatment. Just because I’m your queen doesn’t mean I want it now.” I was going to get pissy if they started to call me ‘queen’ or ‘your highness’. I was Alexia and would always be such.
“Really? You mean you don’t want us to bow at your feet and proclaim how amazing you are?” Titania seemed as shocked as everyone else was.
“Unless the situation calls for it, I am the same person I was a week ago when I was the bounty hunter that hid in a corner and refused to tell you what breed of creature I was. No special treatment unless I request it. Deal?” I looked over her shoulder to the others who were smiling wide and nodding.
Titania nodded. “OK, Lexi, I guess we can get you into the Mounds for the tour then. Show you the throne room and everything.” She pointed at Kingston, disgust on her face. “He won’t be permitted.”
I sighed and turned back to Kingston, taking his hand and laying a kiss on it. Where my lips had touched a dark green vine, with red veins, began to spread across his hand. It stopped at his wrist and moved with a pulse of its own as he looked at it.
I turned to Titania and showed her the mark. “Now he will be.”
“How did you know how to do that?”
“I have Mike’s memories. I know everything about Fey that I can possibly know. I even know the inner workings of the Faerie Mounds, not really needing a tour, but it would be nice to have a Fey with me. Still willing to go with me?” I put my hand on my hip, feeling Kingston move up beside me and wrap his arm around my waist.
I fought the urge to touch him more than we already were and stared at Titania, waiting for her response. If she said no, that was all the better, I would just go alone and scare the piss out of some of the other Fey. If she came, I could still scare some of the other Fey. I knew that once I sat on the throne for the first time, I would be bound to the Fey permanently, so I wanted someone Fey there with me to spread it throughout the Mounds, but she wasn’t essential.
“I’ll go with you, Lexi.” Titania shrugged as if it was no big deal and I nodded, walking through the door with Kingston and Titania close behind me. Today was going to be the day my life changed for good. Would being Fey help me with Melodux? I was hoping that it would, but there’s only one way to test a theory about how bad you’re going to get burned, and that’s to jump into the fire.
