Chapter 22

As more time passed the weaker Savannah became. Her body was on the verge of quiting on her. The fact she hadn't drank blood in days wasn't helping. If they were going to help her, it had to be tonight. She wouldn't last waiting for the full to moon to pass. There was a light knock on the door.
"Come in." She said quietly. Melanie came into the room.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but Daniel and Faye are wanting to see you. He's not happy either." She told her.
"He never is. Help me downstairs, please." Melanie scooped her up and made her way downstairs to Daniel. She carefully sat Savannah down in one of of the chairs.
"Do you know where Stephan and Phillip are?" he asked.
"Hello to you, too. Stephan, Phillip, Randi, Edward and Jaicyn are all at the hospital. They're waiting to find out if Stephan will live."
"What's wrong with him?"
"He was shot with a silver bullet at a school hold up. Randi was almost raped and Phillip was beat unconscious. They should be here soon. The bonding has to be done tonight. It cannot wait." The more she talked the softer her voice became. Daniel knelt down in front of her.
"Are you sure you can do this?
"It has to be done. I'm the only one who can oversee it. Everything is ready to go. All we need is Edward and Randi." she looked at Faye. "It is good to see you awake. How are you feeling?"
"Better. Thank you for watching me."
"It was my pleasure." Savannah smiled at her.
"Is there anything I can do?" Daniel asked.
"Take me to the basement. There are a few things left to do."
"You got it." He helped her up and the four of them went downstairs.

Randi stood with her arms crossed looking at Stephan through the glass window. Edward came up next to her. "How is he?" he asked. Randi jumped. She hadn't seen him walk up.
"Good. They were able to get all of the silver out of him. Lucas isn't letting anyone but me and doctor to see him. And Phillip's still sleeping. They should be able to leave tomorrow." Randi told him.
"I hope so. Or else this hospital will have two shifters running around looking for food." Edward said.
"Randi?" She turned around to see Lucas. "How are you feeling?"
"Good. Wasn't raped, so that's a plus." She said with a small smile.
"Randi, your foster parents are here. In the hospital. They want to take you with them back to Tennessee." Randi's eyes grew wide. All the color drained from her face.
"What?" she said, her voice on the edge of shrieking. "No, I'm not going. They can't make me."
"They won't take you. Will they?" Edward said defensively to Lucas.
"She's under age. They still have full custody of her." Lucas told them.
"Isn't there anything you can do?" Randi asked desperately.
"Emmancipation. Declare yourself an adult." Lucas said.
"Randi! Oh my God! My baby!" a woman yelled running down the hallway. Rose Andrews threw her arms around Randi and squeezed her tightly. Randi remained motionless. What the hell was this woman doing? She had some nerve to act like this.
"Honey, let the poor girl breathe." Michael Andrews said smiling. Rose let her go, tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry. I'm just so happy to see you. We've missed you so much."
"Yes, we have. Very much." Michael said. He put an arm around Randi's shoulders and she tensed enough for everyone to see it. "Is it possible to have some privacy so we can speak with her, please?" He asked.
"Umm, well, sure." Lucas said. He didn't quite know what to do here.
"No, you can't." Edward said cooly. He slid his hand into Randi's and started to pull her towards him. Anger flashed in Michael's eyes. He tightened his grip on Randi's shoulder.
"I think you better let my daughter go." He said. With his other hand, Edward grabbed Michae's wrist and began to squeeze.
"Anyone who treats her like you have doesn't deserve to call her daughter." Edward kept squeezing until he let go of Randi. This time Randi rushed to Edward. He put a protective arm around her.
"Detective, you can't honestly let this man keep our own daughter from us." Rose said astonished.
"Actually, I can. I haven't heard a single good thing about you two. And she has free will. If she doesn't want to go, she doesn't have to." Lucas told them. Michael only smiled.
"She isn't eighteen yet. She's still ours."
"Over my dead body." Everyone turned around to see Phillip standing near them.
"And mine." Kairi came up to join the group. Something his the glass window of Stephan's room. He had thrown a plastic cup to get their attention. He pointed to himself, pointed to Rose and Michael and shook his head.
"And over my beating heart." Edward said. Rose's face took on a confused look. It amused him.
"As you can see, no one is goingt o let you take her from this hospital." Lucas told them.
"This isn't over. We will have out daughter before we go home." Michael said. He led himself and Rose away from them.
"Thanks, guys. It means alot." she turned to look in at Stephan. "You, too." she mouthed. He gave her a thumbs up.
"I know that this is a big bombshell, but we have to get back to Savannah. I won't loose you in anyway." Edward told her. She nodded. It was something that had to be done.
"The bonding." Randi told him. Oh yeah, he had forgotten.
"Alright. Edward and Randi can go. Phillip has to stay until he's released."
"What about me?" Kairi asked.
"Shouldn't you go home?" Lucas asked.
"And be beat by my father for being late? I don't think so."
"You're abused?" Randi asked.
"Yes." Kairi said quietly.
"Then you'll come with me. When I'm finished I'll take you to Randi. If that's alright?" Lucas offered.
"That's fine. I'll be at Edwards. You know where." Lucas nodded.
"Wait, where's Jaicyn?" Phillip asked.
"She went to find something to eat. If she comes back here send her home." Edward told Lucas.
"I will. Keep her safe."
"Don't worry. She'll be fine." Edward promised. With that, all of them went their own ways.
