Their animosity for each other was only tempered by their love for Augustus. That was why Augustus only kicked Logan for the insult. “Don’t be surprised if Caldwell leaves Iraq just to kick your ass.”
Logan smirked, sleepily. “I’d like to see him try. Caldy knows I’ll kick his ass from here to eternity.” He scratched his stomach lazily and contemplated his next job. Hopefully, he’d have at least a week to relax.
Augustus switched off the light. “I’ll hold you to that, so don’t go trying to feel up my ass during the night. I know it’s irresistible and all.”
Logan chuckled lowly as he slung his an arm across his eyes. “I’ll try.”
Sometime into the night, his phone rang. Logan answered it and listened carefully to the message being delivered.
Augustus rolled over and rose up on his elbows. “Who was that?”
Logan closed his phone and simply held it. Stared at it with deep contemplation as if he weren’t sure what to do with it just yet. “That was a call from the godfather.”
“The Godfather?” Augustus teased. “Don Corleone called you up?” He shifted on to his elbows and turned on the light.
“More like someone with the Constantines--”
“The Constantines.” Augustus hopped out of bed, pulling Logan along to the bathroom. “You need to clean for this meeting.” Realizing impressing his new employer was more important than most.
Logan allowed Augustus to clean him. “I’m sure I might say that more than once surprisingly.”
His friend smiled grimly. “Yeah, you just mind your P’s and Q’s and no one will sleep with cement shoes.”
Logan rolled his eyes at Augustus’ theatrics. He had a date with a new boss.
