Chapter 21- Hidden from All
Thank you for the review Falcon. Although I seem to be having writer's block... Maybe I should cool writing for a few days. Get some rest from it... But before that, here is a new chapter for all.
Chapter 21
"So, what do you think?"
Atrois had brought with him the other demon that had gave orders, the one that he called his 'brother'. The large man bent down to read the language, at least, make an attempt to. His large, muscular frame and being near seven feet tall, certainly made him look intimidating. And if it wasn't that, it was the large broad axe that he kept on his back. Certainly it looked far too heavy for any normal person to hold. But he was not normal and not even a person. He was a demon. He gazed at the lettering through ruby red eyes.
"You are right Atrois. This is the demonic language indeed."
"Then aren't you puzzled too? Why it means nothing?"
"It's a code... someone encoded this."
"Wait so your telling me that whoever wrote this, encoded it and wrote that code in the demonic language? It must be something special. So can you figure out the code?"
"I can try. It might take awhile. But tell me, shouldn't we be doing something more productive then this?"
"Who knows what this could say! It could be a powerful spell by the amount of protection it was given... it must be worth something!"
"You do raise a point... who would go through the trouble of doing this? And what for? What are they hiding? But think no more of this Atrois. It does not concern us immediately, so there is no need to rush."
With that, he left, leaving Atrois alone. "Who did this... and why... I will find out. If it's so important to go to such great lengths to keep it hidden..." He smiled insanely and laughed. "Then I will slove this and claim my prize!" He turned and left it, the afternoon sun beating down upon the room.

"Why... what in all of heaven possessed me to do it..."
Eion was mumbling to himself, far from any eyes. At least he had been. Someone else had come to join him not too long ago, and had heard what he was trying to do.
"Why? Maybe your starting to regret."
"Regret? Regret what?"
The man he talked to jumpped down from his perch in a nearby tree, his cloak just brushing the soft grass. "Regret that you couldn't do more. Despite all you have, even you too must succumb to the will of Fate. Perhaps you regret not being able to do anything about it."
Eion looked down and sighed. "I just... I just wish it was someone else. Not her."
"Ahh... you too are feeling it. It's more then just concern for her. It's alot deeper then that."
"But... is it... wrong? For me to feel the way I do?"
"Was it wrong for Jessica when she felt that way about John? Listen, there is nothing you can do. Even if you acted on what you felt... what those two feel for each other can't compare. And no force you possess can tear that away."
"But then... what should I do? What can I do? I feel so... so useless!"
The man turned away, and started to walk away as though apparently finished with the conversation. However, his words were still heard as he vanished on the wind's breath.
"Haha... You angels are mostly the same. You keep forgetting... you have a choice too. You just have to ask yourself, is the risk worth it?"
Eion watched him vanish and thought to himself. He shook his head indecisively before he too vanished in a fury of feathers.

John and Jessica had managed to stop for lunch. It was getting harder and harder now. Thier supplies were finally starting to run low, and unless they found a town soon to resupply, they would soon be at the mercy of hunger and exaustion, not to mention easy prey for anyone who wished to kill them. Which would seem to be alot of people as it is.
John had been keeping to himself lately, trying to digest the fact that even angels had known what was going on. He was just about ready to burst in anger. How many more people knew so much more then him? And if it concerned him so badly, why was he still in the dark about the whole matter? Shouldn't he have the right to know what they did too? He thought about it all, and tried to remember why he had started this journy in the first place. It was only to see about his father. But now, it seemed like so much more then that, and yet he didn't know what it was he was getting himself into.
I wish you were here Dad... I really wish things could go back to the way they once were.
But going back was not an option. As much as he wished it, time would never go back and let him redo the things he wanted to change. And going back would mean that he would have to give up his magic and Jessica... No, he could never do that. They both meant so much more to him now then ever. He could no longer imagine his life without her by his side. The very thought seemed unholy to him...
"John, are you ok?" Jessica looked at him with the deepest concern. She had not liked the fact he was so quiet now. At first she thought it would be ok, to just let him think over things. But it seemed he was being troubled by everything.
"No, I'm not. I'm so confused." John truely was tired of all these secrets. He was tired of the demons, tired of the fighting. But...
"Do you want to go back?" Jessica said, voicing his thoughts.
He had thought about going back, thought about it alot. He wondered if at the end of it all, would what he find, be nearly worthless? But he had already made his decision. He already cast away the old shell of himself. "No. We've already come too far to back out now."
Jessica cuddled up next to him and gave his a kiss. John smiled, she had always known what could cheer him up. He returned it with passion, holding it a little longer then he intended to. He gazed at her, wrapped up in her innocent smile and lively features. Seeing her seemed to wipe away his earlier thoughts.
"Come on, let's go and eat something." John smiled and joined her, deciding to put aside his thoughts until later.
