Akira stared at the top of the deck and then at Daisuke. He sighed, “Fine.” Closing his eyes he let the pencil flow over the paper and when he was done he flipped it over and drew something else. “Draw the card.”
As soon as the card was drawn Akira held his paper up. Black eyes looked at Akira’s paper and then the card he grinned as he flipped it over. “Wrong.”
Stormy gray eyes grew dark and he snatched it from him, “No jokes.” There were two cards, “The card on the top.” He flipped the paper over, “the card you tried to play me with.”
“He’s good.” Daisuke looked at Davion.
“We’ll see.” He rolled the clear sphere to him; Akira took it in hand and looked at it. “What did you see?”
“Huh?”
“When you dropped it, what did you see?”
“Nothing.”
“That’s a load of shit.”
“Come again.”
“Nothing doesn’t make you drop something.”
Zev leaned over, “Akira, what did you see?”
His eyes moved down and he sighed, “It moved to fast, I was startled by it.”
“Have you been seeing images in this?”
“When I was in the tree house I saw one, Ransom caught me off guard and I chased him out.” He rubbed his face, “Now that I think about it, that night I saw a full moon reflect in the sphere, when I looked up it was cloudy and nothing was showing.”
“Anything else.”
“When I paint I usually don’t stop till I’m done. Don’t know why, but this last one I finished… it’s not sitting well with me.”
Daisuke slammed his hand on the table and the three jumped and Akira looked at him, “Looks like you can see into the future, mind read, we’ll need to work on that one, and… wow there’s not much you can do.”
“Ass.”
“Well flying lessons, outside!”
Akira glared at him as he quickly left. Hawk floated over to Akira, “You’ll get it.”
“Akira!” He stood up and left the room.
Zev glanced at Davion and he leaned on the table, “Leave Akira alone.” Then he stood and left the room, he walked out to find Akira in the air and trying to outdo Daisuke. He remembered Akira’s nick name and he sat down. ‘Fallen Angel.’
The brunette froze in mid air and looked at Zev he was staring at the ground now. Shaking his head he quickly went back to trying to catch Daisuke.
^^^^^
Zev leaned back in his seat; Akira and Daisuke were sitting at the table doing the card thing again. Sitting on the table top watching them was Hawk; Davion was bored so he made it a habit to make something float in mid air. Flare was out getting supplies in the nearest town and Cyan was asleep on the rug in front of the fireplace. There had been a snow storm, and they were all snowed in. The only way out was with Daisuke or Cyan.
Davion glanced over he saw Zev; you had to be dense to not see the relation between Zev and Akira. The two shared the same room and he was stuck with Cyan. He smirked as the item, a jug full of dirty dish water, innocently floated over an unsuspecting wolf. It tipped over.
“Shit!” The wolf was standing there dripping wet. “What the hell?”
“Sorry!” Davion stood up and quickly got a towel, “It happens when I space, things tend to go out of control.”
Akira looked at Zev’s dripping wet form and got a whiff. “Shit, Zev, you smell like a wet dog.”
Daisuke scooted away and Cyan was looking over at them, he shrugged and laid back down. “Damn it, why am I the one who gets shit dropped on him.”
“I said sorry.”
“I bet you don’t even mean it!”
The brunette sighed; they had been locked up in this cabin for a while so of course Zev was going to get pissed quickly. “Zev.”
He looked at Akira. “Go take a show.” His shoulders slumped and he sighed.
The older brunette glanced over at Davion, “Behave or your going home!”
He muttered something and then sat back on the couch. When Daisuke looked back over he found Akira gone. “Damn it.”
Zev pulled his wet shirt off and tossed it in the corner, his pants and underclothes followed. He turned the water on, three days in a row stuck in a cabin. All those day’s he had showered six times. This would be seven. He muttered as the water hit him.
“Your letting someone younger then you piss you off.”
He leaned back and looked past the curtain to see Akira. “I thought I…” The brunette walked over and sat on the toilet cover. He leaned back and sighed as he held the tin up.
“I have a pick in here.”
“Oh.” It grew quiet as Zev washed his hair and tried to get the small pieces of food out of his hair. He sighed as the water washed over his head. “I’m thinking he’s targeting me for a reason.”
“He’s jealous. I told him he’s too young for me.” Akira rubbed his head and looked at the shower curtain. It was a dark solid color.
“So you’re into older people?”
He made a face, “What you crazy, have you seen how wrinkly those guys get. I just don’t like younger guys.”
The wolf looked at him and Akira stared at him, “What?”
“You have something here.” He pointed at his head, and watched as Zev tried to find it. “Here” Walking over he pulled his head down and pulled out a piece of lettuce, “Wow. It really is dirty dish water.”
“Akira.”
“Sorry. Sit.” He sat in the tub and Akira sat on the edge. Reaching over he grabbed the soap and started to scrub at his head. “Damn what else has he gotten you with?”
“Pot of dirt, left over’s that Flare had left out, juice, flour, and some other things.”
“Damn.” Akira patted his shoulder and he stood up to rinse it out. He looked at Akira as he sat there watching him wash.
“What is it now?”
“Nothing, just looking.” He had a smirk on his face and Zev sighed.
“You’re sitting there still, why?”
“I’m debating, should I join or not.”
“Do you want to?”
“I want to but I shouldn’t.” Water splashed him and he blinked as he looked at the soaked wash cloth. Zev had rung out a water filled wash cloth over his head.
“Since when have you not done what you wanted?”
“Good point.” He quickly undressed and got in. “But no complaining when something else drops on your head.”
“As long as you get wet with me.”
“Very tempting.”
^^^^^
Daisuke looked at the two across from him. Zev and Akira both had wet hair; the storm was just getting worse and showed no signs of stopping. He muttered something under his breath and looked at the two. Well he shouldn’t complain, Akira was getting better, he could predict the random falls of objects on Zev’s head, and it only took a week. It helped that they all have been holed up in this place.
It was morning and he sighed after asking why they both were in the shower. He was afraid to ask but he still did.
“Because we’re saving water.”
He could hear snickering from Cyan, “Damn it…”
Cyan looked at Flare, “When’s the food going to be done?”
“Hold on Cyan I’m working on it.”
Davion was sitting with his feet propped up. “When will the storm be gone!? I’m getting cramps in my back.”
“Go into the basement and stretch.” Daisuke leaned back propping his feet on the table. “Okay Akira, I want you to read my mind.”
“Okay.”
“I want you to tell me what I’m thinking.” Okay he was getting better the other day he just randomly answered an unasked question. ‘Maybe when he’s relaxed he can sense it better.’
“Sense what?”
His dad smirked and looked at them, “Zev, does Akira look relaxed?”
Zev glanced at Akira, “Wow, you are!”
Cyan grinned, “I wonder why.”
“Shut up!” Akira, Daisuke, and Davion all shouted at him. He blinked and looked at them.
“Damn, it was only a joke.” The green haired male rolled over and looked at the fire.
“I’m more relaxed during winter than any other season.”
Daisuke glanced at him, when Zev asked, “Why?”
“No storms.” He muttered, and only Zev and Daisuke heard it. His face softened.
Even when Akira was with him he would scream for his dad during the storm season, he sighed and leaned back. ‘Still afraid?’
The way he hung his head at the thought, “I’m afraid of spiders.” They all looked at him. “What there…” He shivered.
“He screams and jumps on the table, while I kill it.” Flare said from where she was cooking the food. “As a prank on Fools Day his brother sent him a package with a fake spider in it, I have never seen a grown man act the way he did.”
“Spiders are spawns of hell.” He muttered as he slouched in his chair. “Some can even kill you.”
“I’m afraid of cats.” Cyan was looking at ceiling.
“That would explain why you ran.” Daisuke said from where he sat.
Davion spoke up, “I’m afraid of water, almost drowned when I was a kid.”
Pulling the hat lower over his eyes he mumbled, “I told you not to go swimming.”
“What about showers?”
“I’m in long enough to wash and I’m out.”
Flare walked over with two plates and sat them on the table, “Small places.” Hey looked at her. “I do not like small places.”
Hawk floated over from where she was watching Flare, “I don’t like caves. There creepy.”
Zev looked around at them and they all turned to look at him. His breathing froze. He couldn’t tell them and he grinned, “Ah… I really don’t know mine.” They all shook their heads.
“There has to be something.”
“Nope nothing.”
Akira looked at him and he pulled his hand from his, “Zev.”
He stood up and walked down the hall, the bedroom door closed. Looking at the hall way he turned his head and gave an aggravated sigh as he covered his face. Daisuke smirked, “This is where you go after.”
His hands moved and he looked off to the side. “Are you sure?”
“Go on. I’ll bring your food to you.” He nodded to Flare and got up.
‘Is this the right thing to do?’ Opening the door, Akira looked in to find Zev hunched over his head in his hands. “Zev?”
The wolf looked up. “Sorry I…”
“Sorry, sorry, sorry, that’s all I hear from you.”
His shoulders sunk.
“Up.”
“Huh?”
Akira walked over. “You heard me! Up.” He stood up and Akira looked up at his face. “I don’t know what to do next but are you okay?”
“Yeah. I just couldn’t help but think of something.”
“Like?”
“I don’t want to say.”
“Fine.” He held his hands up, “I get it.” Taking one of his hands he placed it on his face. “So how am I doing?”
“I give you a good grade for caring and knowing when to let it drop.”
“For now.”
Zev smiled and kissed his forehead, “You’re so…”
“Say it and I’ll knee you.”
“Okay.”
“That word is taboo when placed with me.”
“But it’s true, and I still think you are.” He grinned when he saw the glare on his face. All he had to do was have Akira near and everything would be alright. “Just please stay by me.” His lips brushed over his forehead and then there was a knock.
“Come in.” The door opened and Flare stood with a tray, there were two plates on it both had breakfast food on them.
“The storm should stop tonight and tomorrow we’ll be digging snow away from the door.”
“Okay.”
She sat the tray down and left them alone.
^^^^
Daisuke tossed the snow over his shoulder; Akira was next to him with a shovel moving snow. Turning to Zev, Daisuke asked, “Hey shift and help us dig, your claws should move things faster.”
“Hell no. I would never do that.”
Akira sighed as he leaned against the shovel. “How long should this take?”
“Most of the day.”
“You’re kidding me.” Davion was helping move large chunks of the snow, while Zev carried some. Cyan was at the lake with Flare trying to get some water for them to fill the water tank.
“No I’m not.” He shoved the shovel into the snow and tossed some more over his shoulder. Hawk came floating back. “Hawk.”
“They have found the lake and are now bringing water up.”
“Good.” The older brunette turned to Akira. “See told you she is useful.”
“I get it!”
“Once you get your phone working call Mitch.”
“Already plan on it.” The brunette tossed some more snow over his shoulder.
Zev hefted another lump of frozen snow up and walked off. “I still think this will work with him helping in his wolf form.”
“Just drop it.”
It was about lunch time when the front door was half way uncovered. “Phew, half way done.”
Davion flopped to the ground, “I’m tired!”
“You didn’t do much.” The wolf muttered as he dropped onto the ground.
“Moving things with your mind is just was tiring as doing it physically!”
Akira shook his head and knelt down to pick up his shovel. “I swear.”
“One doesn’t like it that the other has you, and the other is afraid he might lose you.” Daisuke looked at him. “Have fun!”
“Fuck you!” A mound of snow smacked into his head and he whipped around. His dad whistled innocently. “So that’s how you play?” He scooped up a shovel full of snow and slung it at Daisuke. The older brunette tried to duck but he still got nailed in the face with the snow. “So?” There was a smirk on his face as he leaned on the shovel.
Sitting up he chuckled, “Damn.”
“Hmmm, that was relaxing.” He looked over to see a half asleep Zev. “Zev.”
He opened his eyes to see Akira looking down at him. Sitting up he asked, “What is it?”
“Can I lean against you?”
“Sure!” He sat all the way up and Akira sat back to back with him. “Is it getting easier to block anything?”
“You asked me that yesterday the answer is still the same.”
“Oh.”
He felt Akira’s hand on his neck and then cold, very cold! The wolf yelped and quickly pulled his shirts off. “That was so fucking cold!”
Looking over he saw Akira trying not to laugh.
Daisuke looked back and sighed as he saw the scratch marks on Zev’s back. ‘I need a drink.’
Just then Akira found himself over Zev’s shoulder, “Hey put me down!”
“No.”
“Damn it dog, put me down.”
“Now I’m not going to.”
“Put me down.”Zev patted his butt and Akira growled at him. He somehow managed to pull himself up and taking his cold hand placed it on his lower back.
He shifted Akira quickly and he found himself being carried in his arms. “Hello.” Hawk was watching the two and she started laughing as she floated over.
“You two are funny.” She flipped upside down and smiled. “I hope I get to work with you.”
Grinning, Zev replied, “What how can Akira turn down such a cute face?”
“You were standing there when I did it.” He muttered. Okay so he wasn’t complaining now, it didn’t help the fact he was being carried. “Now put me down.”
“How can you be so mean?”
“If you don’t put me down you’ll sleep on the floor.”
He sighed, “Fine.” The brunette’s feet found their way back on the snow covered ground. “Better?”
“Yes.” He picked the shirts on the ground up and handed them to him. “Here before you really get cold.”
Zev took the shirt from him and pulled them on and then snagged his jacket. They all started moving snow again and soon the door was snow free. Zev, Davion, and Hawk rushed into the cabin to get warm, Akira stayed out to help even out the snow path.
“When’s Davion going to leave?”
“When his father call’s for him.”
“Oh.”
Daisuke looked at his son, “Why?”
“I think he might do something stupid and the last thing I need to deal with is a fight between those two.” He stopped and looked back. “I might have to kick both of their asses.”
He chuckled and shook his head. One thing’s for sure it wasn’t boring.
