"Why won't they sleep?" Seth fumed angrily. It had been hours since dawn and three of the vampires had still not fallen asleep. He had wanted them separated but knew they wouldn't be parted while awake. He slammed his fist into the wall over and over until it was bleeding and bone was showing through his knuckles.
Zack and Matthew had already been taken care of. They had been easy, left out in the sun, their bodies burned beyond saving. Ethan had fallen asleep like he was supposed to. Seth was going to use him a little later for some visual demonstrations. He threw the door open.
"Get the racks ready. I'm going to need them for awhile." he said to one of his helpers. The man scurried away. Seth shook his bloody hand. It could in come handy.
"Whitney?" Dennis whispered painfully. Corey had been right, the pain wouldn't lessen. But Dennis was worried about Whitney. She had closed her eyes awhile ago and hadn't reopened them. She wasn't even moving. "Whitney, open your eyes."
"It hurts to move." she said, her eyes closed and her lips barely moving.
"I need to know that you're still with me." slowly he reached across Corey's body and laid his hand on hers. She opened her eyes.
"I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere." The door to the room was thrown open and Seth stood in its frame. He stormed into the room and grabbed Whitney's arm roughly and drub her away from the two men. Whitney screamed. It felt like shards of ice were being shoved into her entire body. The pain was almost like the same thing that happened when muscles cramped up. All tingly and painful but so much more worse.
"Oh, shut up." Seth said. She couldn't, it hurt too much.
"Leave her alone!" Dennis yelled. He threw himself forward, trying to get to her, moving through the pain.
"You think you can really stop me?" Seth asked laughing.
"I can," a voice said. Seth was yanked from Whitney and thrown against the wall. Corey stood, slouching very little and breathing hard. It had required him to use alot of energy to move as much as he did. Seth picked himself up off the floor.
"Here I thought you had finally turned into a corpse. No matter. You may stop, but not all of us." he extended his hand to the door. Shifters began to fill the room. All armed with crossed, stakes and bottles of holy water. "You either go freely, or they hold you while you watch their torture." Corey looked at the two on the floor. Dennis had almost reached Whitney. He didn't want to see or anything happen to them.
"How I do know you want still hurt them?" Corey asked, turning his gaze back to Seth.
"None. I'll probably still hurt them. It's just easier this way."
"Then we have problem." Corey said.
"No, you do." Seth's nod was barely visible but it was enough. The other shifters all threw their bottles at him. They shattered, exposing his body to the acidic water. Corey screamed and collapsed to the floor. The water ate away at his flesh, burning down to the bone.
"Corey!" Whitney shouted. One of the shifters kicked her. It sent a stronger wave of pain through her. She screamed and writhed on the ground.
"Shut you mouth, bloodsucker." he said disgustedly.
"Get them to the racks. It's time to get this started," he paused, "On second thought, put those two on the racks, get her ready for the tank." Seth instructed. One by one they were picked and taken from the room.
Corey and Dennis had chains with crosses on the inside put on their wrists. The chains connected to the ceiling where they would be suspended above the tank of holy water. Corey didn't want to know how they came into possession of so much holy water. Or what happened to the poor priest who blessed it. Luckily for them, a piece of Plexiglas covered the top of the tank. They were all standing on it.
Whitney had been stripped to her shirt and underwear. Corey had never seen her look so frail. She may have been twelve when she was made but she never looked weak. She did now and it broke his heart.
Seth had his eyes locked on Whitney's body. Corey didn't like the look. It was too wild, too wanting. He also didn't like that about two feet from her a section of the glass was cut out.
"Let's see, I know that Edward and Jaicyn are your masters. I have failed to bring her here today, but that is quite alright. They'll come when they start receiving pieces of their members in tiny boxes. Or you can take me to them yourself."
"You know I won't give them to you." Corey told him.
"I was afraid you'd say that." Seth said. He put his foot on Whitney and shoved her into the tank.
"No!" Corey and Dennis screamed. They pulled on the chains and they didn't break. That infuriated Corey. Seth had sone something to them. Corey was beyond pissed.
The water in the tank started to boil. They could hear Whitney's muffled screams. She thrashed in the water, doing anything to get out. Seth grabbed her hair and pulled her back onto the tanks cover. Her whole body was steaming, her flesh red and burning. Whitney was in too much pain to scream. She writhed on the top of the tank.
"I need to know where Edward and Jaicyn are going to go when the night comes."
"Don't touch her." Corey said through clenched teeth.
"Where will they go?"
"I won't tell you."
"One simple answer."
"Fuck you!" he shouted.
"No, fuck you." Seth said. He pushed Whitney back into the water. Corey and Dennis pulled against the chains wanting to break free of their bondage. When Seth pulled her out she was in even worse condition. The water had ate through her skin showing the muscle beneath. The smell of burned flesh filled the room. Whitney's body was like one big raw wound.
Corey's body suddenly gave in the chains and hung limp. "Corey..." Whitney whispered.
"It seems that your protector has finally given up. There won't be anyone to stop what I do to either of you now." Seth grinned.
"You're a bastard." Dennis said. He wanted nothing more than to get to Whitney and kill the son of a bitch hurting her.
"Yes, I am. But are you going to do about it?" He placed his foot on Whitney again and started to push her back into the tank.
The door to the room was thrown open and a gust of wind followed. Whitney's body vanished and seconds later Seth was thrown off the tank. All who remained were Dennis and Ethan.
"What the..." Dennis' voice trailed off. Where had he came from? He walked over and snapped the chains holding Corey and laid him gently on the ground. He moved to Dennis and did the same.
"How did you get out?" Seth called on the opposite side of the room. Before he had his answer, Dennis was on him.
"Dennis!" he heard his name being shouted but didn't really care. He only wanted to rip Seth apart. Two hands pulled him away and shoved him to the ground on his face.
"What have we told you about drawing blood? You do not because you are strong enough to supress the hunger yet."
"Let me up."
"Will you hurt him?"
"No." Dennis said angrily. He stood up and found Ethan beside him. "You can't suppress it either." Ethan's eyes moved from Dennis to Corey.
"I can more than you I'm afraid." he said. He lunged at Seth. "You are not going anywhere. You have hurt me and mine for far too long." He flung Seth into the wall. His body was pierced by several metal pipes. Blood poured down his body. Dennis watched with a certain fascination.
"Where's Ethan?" Dennis asked.
"He's still here. But I needed an unharmed body to go into. You were chained so it wouldn't have done good to use you." Corey said, speaking with Ethan's mouth. "Get my body. We're going home." Dennis did as he was told. Corey moved to where he had left Whitney. He carefully picked her burned body up.
"It's still light. How do we get home?" Dennis asked.
"The sewers." Corey said. And off they went towards home.
