Marcus vs. Hades
MARCUS VS HADES
This discussion takes place between two LOYAL and I actually find it fascinating and intriguing. Pokes the side of the ant colony. Whooo, look at them! Actually, I am quite honored that my work is being discussed at all. Big comfort huggies to all. (errr, not the diapers)

About the thing with Marcus/Armor being First and Hades being Second. Well, in a fight between Armor and Hades - Hades would no doubt win. But what about a fight between Marcus and Hades? Marcus has his Mindfucking ability. He could beat Hades with that, couldn't he?

In order to answer the question of A.TASTE.OF.INSANITY (see a few reviews above). I have thought about this as well but, and that may be due to my heavy infatuation with the character of Hades, I don't believe it's that easy.
I remember Marcus mindfuck-ability works different from the brother's and he is the only one - beside the brothers - with it. Therefore the house didn't want to loose him and he ended up on the stone of punishment. If it was impossible to control him, Hades would have never granted him access into the house, even if he only thought of him as a musician and 'Claudius' broken spoon' - as Liam so eloquently put. He did never seem to be uneasy in Armor/Marcus' presence.
In Cinnamon it was his only concern to have Cipher's (visible) weapons removed, therefore I guess Marcus can't break his shield that easily or/and Hades' mind is too stubborn to let itself be overtaken by Marcus' control. Marcus ability is limited in time due to it's costs of physical resources. I think, he can't overpower Hades with ease. If so, I would wonder why he didn't fuck at least one of Alarik's homies into submission. One could say Marcus wouldn't have done this or that due to vampire code of conduct but a Marcus madly in love; a mad Marcus; a Marcus fearing for Claudius or the brothers would surely blew the code into the winds. Why wouldn't he?
So the big question is Why doesn’t Marcus mind fuck his way to the top?
To answer that, we have to look back at his history – yes, he’s been off the deep end, but let’s forgive him for that.
Now, here’s my two cents Canadian.
Hades has fixated on Claudius. We will all agree with that. Marcus was barely more than a fledgling when Claudius ended up in Hades bed. So Hades basically has watched Marcus grow up as a vampire. He knows that Claudius only views Marcus as a son – not a lover, therefore he does not consider him a rival in anything. (It’s almost like Marcus is beneath Hades’ radar.)
Now Marcus has the mindfuck ability. It still might not be strong than X’s now, but it is better refined at the moment. If X would take the time to learn from Marcus, he could surpass him. (Claudius now has this ability as well – part of the royal blue gig but doesn’t use it because the force of his personality and his earned reputation do almost the same thing)
So…the questions are. Why doesn’t Marcus mindfuck his way to the top?
The answer to that is “Marcus is ranked where Marcus wants to be ranked.” Remember, Azrael gave him permission to drop back to 14th. He has made it own decision to get to Second and for the sake of argument, he challenged for the vacant First spot when Claudius took over as Head of the House of Assassins. His motivation for all of this is mainly out of the combined guilt of Armor and himself for not standing up to Claudius when he usurped the title from X and lack of confidence.
How why did Hades get himself ranked?
He has been head of the House of Assassins for 800 years. Working as a personal assistant just wasn’t cutting it. Liam basically kicked him out of the house and told him to get a job he liked because he got tired of listening to the teenager grouse all day long.
Hades could wine and dine and smile at you with that deady vibe. The only place that kill could really work was in the legal world or back in the House. Hades chose the House. Yes he challenged his way up to second. He stopped because he still has unresolved feelings for Claudius.
Now why would feelings for Claudius have anything to do with Marcus?
Even though Marcus has reached the official threshold of Ancient, he is still Claudius fractured yet much beloved son. Killing off the son of your would be lover is not a way to endure yourself to him…especially when that lover is technically your grandson.
How here is the meat of the question…
Marcus vs Hades – who would win?
Hades.
Why? Confidence. Yes Marcus can mindfuck someone, but he can’t do it as quick as X and he can’t rip souls out of people’s bodies. In fact, X will NEVER show Marcus how to rip out those fluttering ribbons. Also, Marcus usually has to be still to do his work. He can’t grab talent like Sex did during a fight. Hades has speed and agility on his side.
That’s my take on it.
