21 pt1

While Ladislao and I were out, continuing our hunting, business continued as usual about the “castle.”

The Castle was the headquarters for the Keepers. Hand selected by Ladislao, each of the Keepers were chosen for his or her unique abilities. Lysande was the Historian and with her earlier “education” as a Courtesan, took part in infiltration maneuvers regularly. Rhiannon, having been a warrior in her mortal life, was the master at arms and chief weapons trainer, spending most of her time developing new weapons and combat disciplines. Rossanna, having answered the Goddess’s call as an animal empathy, trained the menagerie of animal familiars, specializing in horses and birds of prey.

Nokonis, a long time friend of Ladislao’s, was the first chosen to be a Keeper. Nokonis had worked as a double agent between the Turks and the Crusaders and now was the head of Security. His physical features served him well in mortal life, giving him the ability to blend into just about any crowd globally. His skin, even as an immortal, had kept its flush of color as in mortal life. He was the very picture of masculinity. His shoulder length hair was a riot of dark curls, his eyes a piercing moss green shot with gold, fringed with eyelashes that angels would cut off their wings for, his full lips gave the impression of a constant pout, a high straight nose lent him an aura of authority and nobility. His voice was that of dark music, sensuous and lilting, the only marker of his birth origin, the rugged highlands of Scotland. His highly muscular frame crested at a height of 6’ 2”, giving him a commanding view of everything around him. Above and beyond all this was his magnetism and intensity; affording him no shortage of bed sport partners.

Having been the first to be chosen by Ladislao, Nokonis also shared in the duties of selecting other Keepers. Ladislao trusted him to select only the best to become members of the Coven.
