Unforgiven

New blood joins this earth

And quickly he's subdued

Through constant pain disgrace

The young boy learns their rules

With time the child draws in

This whipping boy done wrong

Deprived of all his thoughts

The young man struggles on and on

He's known

Oooh a vow unto his own

That never from this day

His will they'll take away

What I've felt

What I've known

Never shined through in what I've shown

Never free

Never me

So I dub thee unforgiven

They dedicate their lives

To running all of his

He tries to please them all

This bitter man he is

Throughout his life the same

He's battled constantly

This fight he cannot win

A tired man they see no longer cares

The old man then prepares

To die regretfully

That old man here is me

What I've felt

What I've known

Never shined through in what I've shown

Never free

Never me

So I dub thee unforgiven”
from the song Unforgiven by Metallica

It seems in today's world the power to absolve debt is greater than the power of forgiveness. Donal Donnelly in the movie “The Godfather Part 3”

Once he went into the coffee shop he heard the yelling. Cameron was pissed off at one of his employees and was not even trying to hold his temper. Zane walked over hoping to help keep him out of jail at the least.

“You know I told you weeks ago I was going on this trip!”

The girl, who had first served Zane and his friends when they had gone into the coffee shop was near tears. “You really didn’t.”

Zane interceded. “Hey Cameron, maybe you meant to and thought you did. I do that shit all of the time.”

Cameron visibly mellowed once he saw Zane and nodded. “Fine. Can you take the hours or not?”

“I need to arrange it with my mother to watch my son but I do need the money.”

Zane was surprised to hear she had a child. She couldn’t be more than 16. Zane smiled at her and then at Cameron. “See, all fixed. Now if I could do that at the farm life in Potburg all would be all well.”

The girl looked at him strangely but went into the back room to get ready for her shift and Cameron collapsed against the counter. “Thank you Zane. It’s not easy to be the boss. I thought it would be fun.”

Zane nodded and chuckled hard. “Yeah I know the feeling. Hey I have that list. I could just wait until I got there this weekend but I forgot all of my vitamins and they don’t sell them around here.”

“Sure, not problem. I’ll be home tomorrow night. It’s a quick trip. I’ll give you a call when I get back to town.” Cameron looked hard at Zane and plucked a piece of lint from his t-shirt. “So what happened this morning? You sounded tense as hell when you picked up.”

Zane snorted a laugh. “Same shit different day of course. Trying to convince my brother common sense. That’s unheard of in my family.”

“That’s unheard of in this town. You would think the puritans landed here instead of Plymouth Rock and never changed.”

“Well I should get back. I’m in charge of dinner tonight.”

Cameron stepped in closer and breathed deep. “You smell good enough to eat all by yourself.”

Zane pushed him back with two fingers and shook his head. “Has anyone ever told you that you can be a pain in the ass?”

The wicked smile Cameron did made Zane have to look away because the smile went straight to his neglected cock, but his words couldn’t be turned away from. “No I’m usually the one saying ouch right before I scream for more.”

Zane shook his head and started for the door. “Fucking relentless.”

Cameron waited for the door to close before he said, “You haven’t seen anything yet Mr. Killian.”

 Ooooooooooooooo

The flight was just as luxurious as the last but Casi was having trouble relaxing. He’d never killed anyone before. Hurt people, of course, but never killed anyone. Not that the scum didn’t deserve it. Half of the girls who were at the brothel told Casi and the rest of them that they wanted to go home to their families. Two of the girls were only 13 and 14 and had been taken from their villages in Southern Mexico and Ecuador just months before. Others had similar stories. The ones they were bringing to LA with them were all happy to be going. They hoped to make enough money to be able to leave the profession one day and make a life for themselves in the US. They had twelve girls on board with them. Casi worried about the papers for them but they were ready to take aboard the plane with no problems. It amazed Casi that the Carrillos had that kind of reach.

He got off the plane and there were cars waiting for the large group. The girls were taken to a home in the Laurel Canyon area while the crew was taken to Long Beach. Nick was there with Antonio when they arrived and Casi shook the boss’s hand taking the congratulations he poured upon them all.

“I had my doubts, but Dante pushed for you. I really should listen to him more, but don’t tell the little asshole that huh?”

Casi chuckled. “I have a little sister and I know the feeling. So, when is my next trip?”

“Not until next week but I think Dante has some jobs for your people before then. Give him a call later tonight or in the morning. He took his man up the coast for the day.”

Casi left and headed home. He wanted to sleep a few hours then check in with Mr. Martinez to see if anything had come up in the hood while he was gone. Once he kissed his mother and grandmother he went into the bedroom and laid on his bed wishing more than anything his house was ready. He had found it difficult faces the two of them after he had killed people. His sweet grandmother hugging him had made him sick. Her trust and love for him was overpowering and he didn’t feel like he deserved it at all.

 Oooooooooooo

Angelo was at the door with a rose in his teeth and a movie in his hand. They had decided to stay in for the evening, something they were doing a lot. Yvette smiled and kissed Angelo so deeply that she ended up with the rose in her own mouth and Angelo moved her thick hair behind her ear. “You look beautiful tonight mi amore”

 “Thank you Ang. Come in.”

Yvette hadn’t felt this way in a long time. Her stomach fluttered just thinking of Angelo and when she saw him her knees got week. He was handsome with his light brown eyes and dark wavy hair. Tall dark and handsome times a hundred. And that didn’t come close to how good his kissed. She melted into him as he stepped in and kissed her, tongue caressing hers, nice pressure, not too pushy. She wondered if this would be another movie night where they didn’t make it past the opening credits.

“I have dinner coming. Indian is your favourite right?”

Angelo chuckled that deep sexy laugh of his and nodded. “Just remember not to tell my mother.”

Yvette nodded and laughed and showed Angelo into the living room not that he needed a tour. So far they had made love on every piece of furniture in the apartment except for Zane’s room. He sat on the couch and pulled her down to him, laying her across his lap and kissing her even deeper. Yvette found her body responding quickly and hoped for once the Indian restaurant was late delivering their order.

No such luck she thought as she heard the knock on the door. Angel grudgingly let go of her and got up to open the door.

“I ordered it, Ang, let me pay for once.”

He winked at her. “I told you I’m not built that way. Old fashioned or not, I like to take care of mi amore.”

She fell back on the cushions of the couch and thought how Zane would be giving her the biggest razzing if he saw her with Angelo. She had always fought for her independence as a woman, women’s rights and all of the feminist stuff, but having that big gorgeous man ready to pamper and protect her appealed to something deep inside she didn’t even know she craved.

 “Where’s the food?”

She heard Angelo ask this and sat up.

“I don’t have food, but I have some great coffee samples in my bag I can let you have.”

Yvette recognized the voice and got off the couch to job around to the door. “Cameron?”

“Yvette!” Cameron walked in and hugged her tight. Angelo saw this and didn’t like it one bit.

“Get your hands off of her.”

Cameron let go of Yvette and smiled at the man holding the door open. “Oh, I’m so sorry.”

Yvette put her arm around Angelo’s waist and her eyebrows drew together. “Angelo, this is Cameron, he’s from Zane’s and my home town.” She spoke to Cameron then, “Um, it’s not like I’m not happy to see you but…well what are you doing here?”

Cameron bit his lip then asked, “Didn’t Zane tell you I was coming?”

Yvette frowned and shook her head. “No.”

“Cameron rolled his eyes. “He’s been so stressed I don’t doubt it. He wanted me to come and get his vitamins since I was coming to LA. Do you happen to know where they are?”

Yvette opened her mouth and nodded. “Oh, okay, Mr. Health, I’m sure he’s missing them. They’re in the kitchen. Why don’t you come in and sit down and I’ll go pack them up.”

Cameron’s smile was wide but Yvette saw something else there. Angelo said, “I’ll go help you.”

Angelo and Yvette went into the kitchen together and Cameron smiled. He had been hoping that Zane hadn’t called ahead. He looked around and found what he was after right away. Cameron grabbed Yvette’s phone off of the end table and quickly got into her contacts.

 “Why would Zane send him?”

Yvette shrugged as she started packing Zane’s vitamins into a large freezer bag. “I guess they’re getting to be friends. I can’t blame Zane for trying to find someone he can be himself around but to get so close to another gay man-“

“That guy is gay?” Angelo looked relieved for just a second before he thought about it. “And he’s hanging out with Zane?”

“Yeah. Casi would freak. Casi told me he doesn’t trust Cameron and I don’t really trust him either. I mean Zane is a good looking guy, sweet and just a little naïve.”

Angelo whistled between his teeth. “I’ve seen Casimiro get angry and it’s not a good thing.”

They walked back into the living room with the vitamins and saw Cameron looking at the pictures on the back wall.

“These are marvelous Yvette. You have a unique eye on the world.”

“Yes, she does. Well here are the vitamins.”

Cameron turned and looked at Angelo. He smiled but Yvette saw that same thing behind it. Like he was putting on an act. He was after something else and hoped it wasn’t Zane. “Of course, you two probably want to be alone. I’ll see you again Yvette I’m sure.”

Yvette let him out and turned to Angelo but before she could say a word Angelo said, “I don’t like that guy. He’s up to something.”

 Oooooooooooooooooo

Zane went to the feed store and was looking over the grass trying to think of some kind of deal he could make the owner, the father of an old high school friend, Denny O’Roarke, an offer of some kind that would help offset some of the cost of the ruined pallets. Once Mr. O’Roarke was alone in the store Zane walked to the counter, grim look on his face.

“Zane! I didn’t get a chance to talk to you much at the funeral. How are you? How’s your family?”

Zane shook his head, “Well, we’ve been better. We had a fire, lost some of our sod.”

Mr. O’Roarke’s face turned down considerably. “Yep, yep I heard about that. Sorry son.”

Zane shrugged and said, “Thanks Mr. O’Roarke. It’s got us scratching our heads alright. How’s the family? Denny? Haven’t seen him in years.”

At the mention of his son he got a huge grin. “He’s doing great. Coach of a college football team in Texas. Has two sons of his own now.”

 “That’s just terrific Sir.”

“Well what can I do for you?”

Zane leaned his elbows on the counter and shook his head. “Well Sir, with the fire and all, we’re looking at some hard times to come at the farm.”

“Zane, now I already see where you’re going. I would love to help you. Your father was a good man, a real good man and my friend, but with so many of the families having so much trouble the last couple of years I am tapped out. I’m barely keeping my head above water.”

Zane stood up straight, forgetting about his own troubles suddenly. “What do you mean?”

The older man looked weary as he spoke of it, like he lost ten years just thinking about it. “Eight, ten families having a run of bad luck like nothing I’ve ever seen. Deaths, sickness, Peter’s farm lost all of their sheep to some kind of disease. Hell, surprised you haven’t heard of it but then again with your troubles no one probably wanted to complain about their own.”

“Have they found any causes of it?”

“Some, some were just accidents, others who knows. Just plain bad luck I say.”

Zane rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly getting a headache. “I didn’t know.”

“So you still want to ask me for a favour?”
