20 armies clash

Glem had taken the crystal in his mouth little better than had Klem. He was also uneasy at the voice in his sub-conscious mind. His Lord accepted him for who he was even more than Klem, a soldier who enjoyed warfare and its associated lusts as much as he enjoyed the spark of life.

The voice chuckled in his mind as Glem had advised Hadad of the other force just arrived on the other shore of Overland. The scout who had told him had heard the briefing and returned before he was seen. Overlord had brought his force around the point to meet and destroy them before they had chance to march any further into his domain.

Of course, Hadad had turned the force around and marched coastward again to meet and rout this new threat to his own invasion force.

The battle went to and fro, both sides evenly matched in ferocity and magical abilities. Vlad and Hadad stood back trying to seek the advantage, Lacey and Jacs with their Lords. Both women fretted, the sights had raised the blood lust in them and they more than itched to join the fray.

Hadad relented and let Jacs go - on the proviso that she head straight for Lacey and take her on ALONE, no fighting in the battle other than to make her way through the chaos. She had actually given him a brief kiss on the cheek before running off like one of his fighting berserkers.

Lacey walked feverishly back and forth, much to Vlad’s amusement. What a magnificent animal she had become! And then he spotted the single figure coming through the field, black clad with braided hair, pushing men aside and striking as if all were mere pieces of driftwood.

“Lacey, look!” She stopped and stared where he pointed.

“Ha! Is she….. ?”

“… Coming for you? It looks likely. It would give you more advantage to meet her half way, don’t you think?”

“As my Lord COMMANDS!” She raced off, knocking men out of the way in similar fashion to the approaching figure. Jacs saw the whirling figure coming towards her and laughed in delight.

The black clad figure reached the red clad figure and both glared and showed teeth, arms raised and hands clawed. Hadad and Vlad ceased looking to the field, they had eyes only on the two. Let the cat fight begin!

Jacs staggered from a particularly powerful blow, but moved with the speed of the great snake around her as Lacey’s teeth failed to meet her flesh, landing her own blow expertly and Lacey moved back a step. Hand blow, countered and returned, leg blows aiming to disable; both laughing manically as if they were on the practice fields.

Slight whisps of fog moved between the two as they circled briefly regaining breath.

“No! This is MY fight! Stay back!” Jacs shouted to the fogs. Lacey shook her head, mystified as to whom Jacs was yelling at.

“Are you finally LOSING it, my challenger?” She asked in disbelief.

“You are as DENSE as you seem, my counterpart,” Jacs countered. “The whisps are NOT fog. They are part of our army that is even now crushing yours!”

“Oh ho are they now! I see OUR forces have the edge at the moment!”

The cat fight resumed with fresh vigour, both determined to win to show their lords and forces who was the best. But they were evenly matched. Lacey absorbed even the hardest blows Jacs could give; Jacs countered every move towards a bite with seeming ease.

The sun, what little there was that could be seen through the natural mists, started foundering and the light grew dim. Both sides began to carefully withdraw for the dark. The women still fought in the midst, not caring if they were the last standing.

A light came from the darkening clouds and surrounded them, both women screaming in anger as they dissolved into sparkling energy and disappeared.
