“Mistress?” the novitiate inquired.
“Aye, My stores are full of flour from the mill. This is different,” Aine instructed as she tapped the pestle on the stone mortar causing the powdery substance to float away. “This wheat was given in offering. We must honor that.” Aine paused, setting the pestle to the side before using her fingers to carefully chase her hard work into the clay jar. “And with this, I shall bake the bread that will break our fast on Beltane,” she finished with a tired sigh. Connor smiled as he banked the waning fire.
